I know its been said a few times now, but that was a truly great 5 minutes from Reyes..................cannot wait to see Reyes back with Henry playing with that sort of confidence!!!!!

Oh my! Both a confident Reyes and Henry up front. That will surely give any defense in europe nighmares let alone the EPL! Another great thing about Reyes is he can fly and make those far away Champions League games. Something we've missed so dearly in previous seasons.

GoonerMagik your avatar is ace.

Reyes your strike was ace.

Silva your performance was again shite.

I was very suprised that Gilberto got the nod ahead of Edu especially after he played in mid week. It's a no brainer around Highbury Edu should get the nod in front of Gilberto. But I feel it's because Gilberto is a better defensive player than edu so it gives vieira the licence to go forward. Maybe wenger know's this and he's just saving Edu for the Champions League and he'll really let him loose!

It's interesting that if Wenger's thinking is that Gilberto has better defensive qualities than Edu, why then (in Freddie's absence) does he choose to play him on the right with Edu in the middle, like he did in the second half yesterday and last week. Surely he could keep him in the middle and put Edu wide left and Pires on the right where he's been so effective in the past. I still think that Gilberto is living off past glories, though I didn't think he did much wrong yesterday.
Anyhoop-Here's to the Reyes of light from Wenger's Arse-nal!!!

Great performance in the 2nd half boys... thats the 3rd time we've knocked those c*nts out.

JOSEEE!!!

The fourth time mate actually

Draw early on today, wonder who we'll get, most likely a tie with Man utd! :D

Let's hope we do get drawn against Man Utd because really there defense is worse than Leicester's.

I'd like us to draw Man United at home because it's better to play them now than later in the competition, I hope liverpool draw Man United at home if we don't, because I don't see anyone else other than us or Liverpool that can knock them out.

Great goals by Reyes, pretty poor game other than the quality of the three goals.

Im hoping for a United V Liverpool final so fingers crossed we get you's in the next round....

I think the selection of gilberto on the right of midfield is mainly due to the great link up play between Cole, Pires and Henry on the left. Most of our play is down the left channel and Wenger doesn't really want to take out the main talisman Pires who orchestrates play so well there. By playing Gilberto on the right I suspect gilberto goes in central (not exactly a typical winger is he) and they play a 4-3-1-2 with 3 defensive players in midfield and pires in a floating role where he can drift anywhere. So you got Edu on the left midfeld threading through balls to the likes of cole, pires and henry while maintaining that strong stability with vieira and gilberto as well.

you gooners make me laugh. when he didnt score for his first couple of games everyone says give him time to settle and now just because he's got a couple of goals ya comparing him to Henry!!!!

ffs, give the lad some time and then start hailing him as the next superstar!

Not comparing him to Henry at all. Reyes still needs time to settle having only been in the country for 3 weeks, I'll say give him a year and he'll be near enough to the standards he's set himself in the spanish league. But after these two goals in the fa cup he will gain confidence from this and adapt to the english game much more quickly. After his first goal he was a changed man and special players do special things and that first goal was special. No doubting that this guy will be quality in the long run.

Poor game, were you flicking between Songs of Praise or something Vann. The game was great, loads of incident, great football and some sensational goals.

p.s. Don't be jealous loz. ;)

I loved the first goal. Looks like we have a tendency for long range strikes against Chelsea... Winterburn a couple of season ago, Silvinho too (still don't know why we sold him), and Parlour in the FA Cup. We look pretty sound, but for Lehmann. My Calcio source Bobogol keeps warning me about him since he was at Milan, but i think he does let the blood rush to his head a bit quick... he sure gets my hands infront of my eyes when he rushes out!

Only thing now is to get the Kelme boots into my patch so i can put em on Reyes!

P.S. L'POOL/P'MOUTH v ARSENAL next round

Probably pompey.

As for long range strikes don't forget Dixons at Highbury about 8 years back.

Nicky, you have a good memory! My fave is Dixon again in 1992, away at Stamford Bridge. He hit it with the outside of his right foot from about 30 yards!! Well it looked 30 yards from where I was standing, the away section used to be 50 yards from the pitch.

Not that great a memory, I have an Arsenal plus subscription I got free with AOL and was looking at some of the archives the other day. One was Lee Dixons 8 greatest Arsenal goals. Whats funny is anyone else that has a collection the site has top 10 but old Dixo obviously didn't score many from open play, just he's pens when he was the taker.

He left because Wenger said that he couldn't accomodate another frist-team left-back at Arsenal anymore because of the then-rising talent of Ashley Cole - and England international after all. You have to agree he was right, look at what a great palyer Cole has transformed into now.

Sol is in talks about extending his contract, which is great.

Worse news is that Parlour will be out for a long time (6 weeks). Expect to see more Gilberto on the rihgt, I imagine.

Hmmm, do we need to Thierry for the game at Stamford Bridge? :)
But seriously, it's great to see Wenger given some options up front after Reyes' performance. Henry, Reyes and Begkamp are all going to be fit. I reckon we'll see Henry start up front with Reyes or the lad coming in later on in the game for Bergie. Has to be one of those two, really.

I thought Bergkamp was superb on Sunday making some fantastic passes and flicks. It's the best i've seen him play in a while.

Maybe we could pop Reyes on the right wing, he could cut in and unleash more fantastic strikes.

We are still awaiting the news to the extent of Parlours injury, but it doesn't look to good. Freddie is due back very soon, so he'll be back on the right hopefully for saturdays game at stamford bridge. We really need an in form freddie in the last stage of the season, he hasn't really had a great season for us this year and heres hoping he's saving it for the big games comming up.

To be honest I don't think Wenger wants Reyes on the right wing, first of all he ain't defensive enough to track back on the right, he's an attacking player we need him causing problems in front of goal. Wenger didnt pay 17 odd million to be another wiltord by sticking him of the right. Wenger wants Reyes moulded into a striker just behind henry where he will cause greater problems for the opposition. Leave the right win for freddie, wiltord, parlour or maybe even pennant.

Well, let's pray Freddy will be back.
My starting line up would be:

Lehmann

Lauren - Toure - Campbell - Cole

Ljungberg - Vieira - Edu - Pires

Bergkamp
Henry

Was there a slight deflection on Reyes first goal? I saw it twenty times but couldn't figure out if it wtook a deflection or not, I was watching it in a pub with no sound on the TV so i couldn't get any reaction from the commentators......

Nope, the only deflection I could see is straight from Reyes's left boot.
