Wasn't the penalty more like obstruction?

Should've been an indirect free kick. I only saw the highlights on the news mind.

Yes, it was obstruction so yes it should have been an indirect free kick. These things even themselves up over the course of a season.

True. When is champs league back??

Feb 24th - Vigo Away
Mar 10th - Vigo Home

Can't wait, come on you Vigo! ;)

BTW I was chatting to a gooner at work today and he seems to think the rules have changed. You can no longer have an indirect free kick in the pen box it's just a straight penalty.

Well that would explain it. I imagine the only exception to that is a backpass being picked up.

Hi guys, it's me "Zico".

Excellent result yesterday against Villa, all thanks to the quick thinking of Thierry Henry. Stone wall penalty, don't know why everyone says it wasn't.

1. Arsenal

Welcome back mate although with the mods opinions of you it'll probably be a short stay.

It sure is good to be top. 2 games to beat the boring Arsenals's unbeaten record.

How many teams have gone unbeaten for a whole season??

Well i fancied you's for title this year, I aint conceeding yet but to go this far unbeaten (in the league anyway) is some doing.

Ive heard conflicting reports about yesterday but the general feeling I got was that the ref said Henry could take it, so he took it....

And how come Zico's been banned, thats not right the guy is a permenant fixture in these boards and a legend (in his own mind anyway)

What happened??

I'm not sure, I come back from a week away and saw a red card on his name.

Preston are the only team to finish a whole season unbeaten but that was a short one in the 19th century, only about 18 games. Leeds and Liverpool hold the longest unbeaten run record on 29 games.

I went to almost every game that season mate, and that team were anything but boring!

Sorry i'm too young too remember just basing my views on th media, stupid me ;)

Although we went 30 games unbeaten a year ago, that was over the course of 2 seasons, but thats still a record that we hold.

Premiership record from when we lost at home to newcastle in 2001/2002 season to when we lost away to everton last season.
I think preston did it for longer in the 19th century but that was in the olden days when their were no offsides and no crossbars. ;)

Well the return off Zico didn't last long, he's new identity has been red carded.

He's been red carded more times than Roy Keane!
Or Patrick Vieira for that matter.

After much debate Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Kanu WILL play tomorrow night against Middlesborough in the Carling Cup.
That's a big weight off my shoulders cos I don't know what we would have done without atleast one senior striker.

From BBC Sport:

Arsenal chase Frey

Frey claims interest from Arsenal
Arsenal have been linked with a £7m move for cash-strapped Parma's French goalkeeper Sebastien Frey.
Sources in France claimed a Highbury delegation were locked in talks with Parma to finalise a deal.

Chelsea have also been linked, but Frey claimed: "I won't have any trouble with the language. I have already spoken to Arsene Wenger, he's waiting for me.

"I feel good in Italy, but I can't stay as it would be bad for Parma, who need money and soon."

He said: "My value is between 10m and 12m Euros. This solution is good for me."

Don't know too much about Frey, is he any good?

I think he is good, I hear a lot about him - Prof will know him. I know we aren't after him, we just signed Cech.

Arsenal are interested in signing feyenoord's Van Persie, this January!

A bad move imo. He's only 20, it'd let him develop for few more years. At Arsenal he would only sit on the bench, and he wouldn't develop at all.

In my opinion, Arsenal need another "big name" striker, exactly the same as United`s problem - they cannot rely on Henry for a whole season, in all competitions. Someone to play alongside him, and basically bang in the goals, as we all know, Henry is an incredible playmaker.

Thats a good point. We don't need any more promising youngsters we have enough already. We need someone to partner henry. Wenger has already said he wouldn't spend any money in the January but we'll see what happens.

To be honest, I think that Wenger literally doesn`t have the funds to buy a big striker.

That's not true, he's got about £10 million at his disposal but he say's he wants to save until the summer when he will have about £20 million then he can spend big!

Posted this a couple of pages back. He's a very good keeper, should definitely challenge Lehmann for the No. 1 spot if bought, although I don't think the club need another keeper (with Stack coming along and Shabaan waiting) but with Chelsea losing interest by buying Petr Cech (is he coming in July?), it looks like they will. Does seem he's more interested in the money then the club, from what I've read at least.

Don't forget Taylor.

Don't know if this was mentioned before, but three of Arsenal's youngsters have been shortlisted for the Carling Cup New Talent award. The three Arsenal boys are Clichy, Stack and the current leader by some way, Aliadiere. The remaining two are Chris Eagles of United and Peter Whittingham.
