You gotta love Wenger's cloak and dagger attack, especially when you see worse violence, ie., the recent Corinthians/Palmeiras match where Corinthians keeper Doni done a double footed WWE drop kick and left stud marks on Fabiano's back!! Even corner flags were broken over players backs.. would have loved to see RVN skewed at the BBQ

People have used this opportunity to hit out at Arsenal and it seems that over-reaction seems to be an appropriate theme throughout.

There is no doubt that the Arsenal players reacted badly - and though Vieira has done much to curb his reactionary instincts, they were apparent again on Sunday. RVN is a trouble maker - arguably the worst in the EPL. But that is more reason to not react.

Vieira must take the blame as the Arsenal captain and the leader of the team and as a professional - his reaction instigated the escalation of the whole problem. Tony Adams would not necessarily have reacted in the same way.

Now we are in a no-win situation. The FA have to do something. If they do something here they will have to apply the same due diligence to every match. However, I will be happy to take bets that this will not happen. How many times do we see player confrontations in a week? Is someone going to tell me that the FA will bring charges in every situation?

I doubt it - the FA ruling committee will be busier than a small claims court - which means that this will simply boil down to a basic witch hunt with the only beneficiaries being the Arsenal- haters and no real credence to the FA apart from being a reactionary body incapable of consistency.

You seem to have problems grasping what went on, on Sunday and in general reading your post...

Arsenal want to be seen as a big club and they are also one of Englands more prestigious clubs, they enjoy having this standing as it gives them a voice in important matters in the domestic and european league...

With this comes responsiblity, Sundays game was shown all over the world because if the size of the clubs. Hence the game becomes a flagship for The Premiership and English football.

So arsenal want all the trappings of a big club but not the media attention that comes with it, this makes them sound even more pathetic than they already look.

Oh please... vannizzle get off your blatant echelon of plagiarism and post something scripted with your own braincell!! I may have lost a grip, but at least the wording is mine and not some other journalists. In short... "You seem to have problems grasping what went on, on Sunday and in general reading your post...." In GENERAL?? How? Are you a certified physician? Are you a member of the BMI? Then define general?
No wonder Zico can't fathom your bile like stench...

A simple cut and paste won't help in any iota what is so conspicuously obvious. Your non-seneschal, pre-pubescent outbursts in the past have no relation whatsoever on the post that you just submitted. Before rallying around and trying to reply by posting another picture of RVN with a trophy, why no go post it on that picnic basket that you keep on the halfway line at OT. You are without doubt a simple man who is the epitome of the amoeba like following of a media dominated football "club" with the motto brazen on your chest "you only cheer when you're winning"..

Ruud Van Nistelrooy is the biggest cheat I have seen in over 20 years of watching the English league.

Did he cheat? Damn right he did. He purposely went up in the air with Vieira with a premeditated plan to use his trailing leg to 'accidentally' injure Vieira. He also knew that if he did this, he would probably get the reaction out of the volatile Vieira he wanted. It worked to perfection. Vieira stupidly lashed out (although missing by over a foot) and Van Nistelrooy belatedly jumped out of the way, apparently fearing for his life, with a look of wide-eyed fake shock on his face.

The referee got it spot on. Van Nistelrooy was booked for his un-sportsmanlike conduct, while Vieira was rightly yellow, and thus red, carded. Van Nistelrooy had got it spot on. Again!

Now United fans (YOU!) reading this will point to extreme bias on my part. Let them! For everyone else, let me please state my case.

Van Nistelrooy is a master cheat. He is simply the best at it. He's so good in fact, that he has it down to a fine art. This was just the latest example. The media applauded him for restraint at not reacting to getting jostled and bumped by irate Arsenal players. It wasn't restraint. It was part of what he does. He provokes, kicks, elbows, falls, dives and taunts. When the others explode, he walks away the 'innocent' one, while those he's exploited are seen as the villains. He has the whole thing mastered.

Let me give a couple of other examples of what I mean.

Take the latest away game against Charlton. United were struggling to make a breakthrough and time was ticking away. Up steps Van Nistelrooy to take centre stage, and give United a free effort on goal. This, he is a total master of. He hangs around the box being closely marked by the central defender. A United player plays the ball into his feet. Van Nistelrooy has only one thing in mind, and that is to win a free kick. He turns his body perfectly INTO the body of the hapless defender who simply can't get out of the way. Van Nistelrooy and the defender collide, he goes down in a heap, and the 'foul' is given. United score from it. It worked even better when Beckham was there to take them.

The second example is one that will bug me all my life. It was the United Liverpool game at Old Trafford last season. 2 minutes in, and the ball is played into the box. Van Nistelrooy was ready with one of the masterpieces from his bag of tricks. That is, to cut diagonally with his turn and run across the unsuspecting defender, and as soon as contact is made, goes down like a sack of spuds. To the naïve ref, it looks like a foul. In fact, it's a perfect manoeuvre acted out by the master of his trade. A penalty is awarded, off goes 'the last man' (Sami Hyypia) with a straight red card (plus a 3 match ban for it) and United go 1-0 up against a team who now have 10-men for 88 minutes. One brilliant piece of theatre, and 3 points were in the bag. Also, Liverpool's best defender is out for several games.

There are many, many more examples. The record of just how many players he has incensed and been involved in their sendings off. The number of penalties he earns and dispatches per season while defenders are yellow and red carded for 'preventing a goal scoring opportunity.'

So, were the Arsenal players in any way justified for their conduct yesterday? No, not at all! In fact, they were bang out of line.

But although I can't condone them, I have to sympathise with them. They were naïve and undisciplined and once again allowed the cheat to prosper, and they will have to face the consequences while the number one cheat in the English game once again gets away scot-free.

At least this time, for once, the crossbar meant that there was just a touch of justice, as the man who started it all, was unable to finish it.

But I wonder, while Arsenal are once again in the dock for disciplinary violations, will the antics of Ruud Van Nistelrooy ever get the scrutiny and condemnation they so rightly deserve? No.... as it is deemed "professionalism."

your constant deflecting away from the situation by trying to highlight other issues stinks of ignorance.

the biggest cheat ive seen in 20years of watching football

thats a good one, in fact your essay, sorry post is full of them.

The fact that you support a team with such a terrible record for cards, and being dragged in front of the FA for other violent acts makes your essay laughable, you condem Ruud, do you hold the same regard for players in your own team, Jeffers, Pires who have no qualms about diving for a pen or Bergkamp who is known as much for his violent streak as his brilliance...

People in glass houses....

My post wasnt an attack on anybody and didnt use any personal insults as it easy as it is to do, the points we're valid but you choose to not address them, good to know that I inspired your essay and I hope you feel better for writing it, changes f*ck all like, but still the intention was there ey.

Agree VanNizz but you're missing my point. In the NFL, almost every single period of play is followed by some kind of dance or in your face shouting at members of the other team or pushing or shoving, it is just normal. In hockey, referees stand back and watch while two players pummel each other on the face. The two best soccer teams in England had a bit of a flair up in one of the biggest games of the year and look at the amount of shit that has gone on about it. Watch the game, NOTHING MALICIOUS happened and its treated like World War 3 just started. It's so insane, soccer is fastly becoming a game for pansies, ballerina's and stuntmen.

Tottaly agree with your post there buddy. What UEFA want is Stadiums full of Prawn Sandwich eaters and players scoring goals and running back to the half-way line without celebrating. I think it's great to see players getting all worked up at the end of the game, it just shows you that they care about the team.

In the end UEFA will wreck the beautiful game. Next we'll be seeing women playing in football, players wont be aloud to celebrate, managers will have to sit in the stands and players wont be able to tackle or get angry. The beautiful game will be wreck in no time I tell ya.

But I don't think we should let our national game descend to those depths - hence the furore.

Yeah but thats what yanks do, they are very much in ya face and thats okay for them..

English people dont really appreciate that sort of thing....

Yeah ya right T, I think our game is fine as it is, seems that some people want it changed to suit their team, no one else is complaining...

Oh I forgot the whole world is against the arse bandits

Of course not, i couldn't see soccer going that far, but come on, two of the best teams in the world in a controversial heated game? It was nothing vicious. Give us a break.

Oh I forgot, you'd rather watch the game sitting down eating your tea and crumpets and shouting "Bravo old chap" and 'Hooray old prune".

A bit of pushing and shoving, we should all grow the fuck up.

Nah ya right it is all got out of hand.

Ive seen alot worse granted, I said earlier in the post that it was the scenes after the game (outside the ground) that bothered me.

That is why Im so pissed off, it was the worse post match violence that ive seen for years. If guys want to arrange a ruck then sweet Ive no probs with that but on Sunday it was pretty bad, regardless of who it is in terms of rivalry I dont wanna see that sort of violence, I want it settled in footballing terms and a bit of banter afterwards.

And I dont care what anyone says if the arsenal players hadnt acted like that the crowd wouldnt have been so fired up, ive been to more important and more intense matches than that and theres barely been a mumur of trouble.

Deflecting from the situation?

This is an Arsenal thread. Yes you are more than welcome to bring your own conjunctive notions into this thread, but surely you must understand that any efforts by Manure fans to post opinions, whether they are fair or not, in an Arsenal thread, will always bring about a response. Yes we are more animated that Manure Scoopers Utd, but that's just us... 83 pages to 17? No one replying to posts? The point about Man Utd fans being hurt by the unflinching bias in my opinions. What the fuck did you expect? I am a Gooner!

Essay or no essay, the points were niggling points that I wanted to point out. Yes I support a team with a terrible record for cards. Yes Wenger must address it. Yes our players will deem it unacceptable. Yes we set a bad example. But it's my team. Through good and bad. Win Lose, i'm there.

Yes I condemn RVN, and I do condemn my players to the same scrutiny. But as I said before, as a footballer, RVN is rightly regarded among the world's top strikers.

I do hold the same regard for players in my own team, Jeffers DID dive for the point against Man Utd, Pires DID dive against Portsmouth... but not as flagrant a pursuer of the art of deception than RVN. RVN has escaped relatively unscathed from several controversial penalty decisions while Francis Jeffers and Robert Pires have been labelled cheats.

We all know Pires doesn't need to do it as he proved it in the season we won the League and FA cup double. That's why fellow professionals voted him the "player's player of the year", however, I can't see RVN gaining that accolade. Lets be serious...Jeffers isn't ever going to win it as he doesn't play enough while with us, and Bergkamp's brilliance is marred by that violent streak. He maybe compensating for lack of pace/annoyance in his twilight years.

I'm tired of this shit..Conclusive note, fuck the game.. Done and dusted... what's happened has happened... Sure more of this will come up when the charges are bought forward...

Agreed, we all have different views on this and I don't think anyone will change their mind. Besides, I'm sure Monsieur Pires and his chums will give us something tonight, to talk about for next week! ;)

I'd laugh if Wenger got off the bench and started kicking and headbutting Shearer tonight.

"Look at ze video, I waz at least 3 feet away from Alain Shearer when I attempted to make ze kicke at heem, he is a cheating player".

after seeing the incident over and over again in my opinion arsenal deserve whatever they get. They have no one to blame but themselves on this one.

Cygan must be loving this right now!

So whats everyones predictions for tonights match against Newcastle? Im going for 3-1 Arsenal. Hopefully Jeremie Aliadiere will get a run out tonight.

I predict a tough game from a fired-up organised Newcastle, 1-0 to Arsenal with an Arsenal defender getting the goal from a corner.

I have been thinking 2-0 all day. My dad has gone and bet on a few scores for tonight but he ignored the one I told him
