I think its gonna be really tough tonite. But i think itll be a narrow win.
Im really wanting this 2nd place to avoid the nasty qualifiers. Basically the players are playing for their own holiday.

How does arsenal always manage it? V. Persie's goal was great, but came out of nowhere!

Because we are a better team with better individuals. I agree it was a crap game, but we had the better chances. This is what successful teams have to do, grind out results even though we don't play that well.

Well 2nd is looking likely now, 2 wins will do it. With 2 home games coming up we have got feel confident. Added to that is a trip to Birmingham on the last day who have nothing to play for, so I can see us getting at least 7 points out of 9 which will be enough to see us finish above the forces of darkness (again). It will also be our 8th consecutive top 2 finish in the Premiership, what other team can say that? Tremendous stuff!!

Yeah, true true Butatista.

Yup, and another goal for RVP. The boy gets bigger in stature every game he plays. Its still early days but we could have another Wenger diamond plucked from the rough.

shirt looks nice but........

i wanted to talk about what it says in SUN, about REYES out and maybe OWEN in??

what do you lot think???

Could Owen fit in??? i know he scored a fair few goals at Real this year but im not convinced with his technical abilities, and having seen a fre real games he doesnt look anything special anymore, where as Reyes on the other hand has soo much skill and is yet to mature and will get better with age.

do we bloody want Owne?!?!?!?!

another site claimed Figo could/might be used.

I think Owen would be an asset to the club, but could he play upfront with Henry?? Not sure about that one. Thierry likes a shadow striker like Bergy giving him good passes, he never seems to enjoy playing up front with out and out strikers (Wiltord, Jeffers etc). Owen would be a great understudy for Thierry but I can't see him swapping Madrid's bench for ours.

Figo - no thanks, over the hill IMO.

I would like to see a top class keeper - Seba Frey
In addition, a top quality centre back as cover for Senderos and Campbell - Any suggestions?? Get rid of Cygan
Lets get in Shaun Wright-Phillips, and Essien in midfield.
We also need a top class striker which compliments Henry.
Dennis - sorry mate time to go. Thanks for everything. Theres no time for sentiment here.

If Madrid come in for Vieira again, let him go I say, lets take their money. On the whole he has been poor this season by his standards.

Add this to the return of Bentley with Robin Van Persie now starting to look the business and our squad would start to look healthy again.

Keepers
Frey\Lehmann
Almunia\Taylor

Defenders
Lauren
Toure
Senderos
Campbell
Clichy
Cole
Hoyte
Eboue

Midfield
Freddie
SWP
Essien
Gilbert
Flamini
Fabulous
Pires
Reyes

Up front
RVP
Henry
Aliadiere
Bentley

Added to that the youngsters waiting for their chance:

Quincy
Lupoli
Ryan Smith (this guy is gonna be the nuts)

When Dennis goes our squad will be unbelievably young  . I got high hopes for next season as long as Wenger gets in the right kind of players.

I want Bergkamp to stay as long as possible, he gives so much to the squad and younger players can only learn great things from this arsenal legend.

I think it is only positive if Bergkamp stays, He should stay as long as he wants to.

I know financially wise it might be best to get rid, but he is not just any player and is very special and should be an exception, great role madel for the club.

Also he hasn't put a foot wrong this season and he can definately play on. When he has played he has complimented the team perfectly and he and Henry play so well together.

agree about vieira, think reyes should also go if he wants, I don't want anybody at arsenal that doesn't want to be there.

I don't think Owen would be a good signing for arsenal (depends on the price though). He wouldn't be able to play with Henry, but in saying that Henry plays much too many games, might be good to alternate?

We will just have to put our faith in Wenger, he is a god and will do the right thing for Arsenal!

I think this summmer we dont wanna be signing any more youngsters. we have enough. I think that Wenger came out and siad he will be buying players in the 24-27 year old age bracket which is good. We need players who can play now, and play in big games in the champions league when players are missing.

Id like to see- Shay Given, Jorge Andrade ( i kno Depor have been awful but I think here he can do well). Essien and a top striker (if Reyes goes)

Bergkamp is probably the only player that I respect that Arsenal.
The rest of them I hate but thats just cuz I'm a Man Utd fan.

And where did you hear that Essien is coming to Arsenal?
The only 2 times he ever talked to the media was when he said he's staying at Lyon and then the second time he said that if Man Utd come in for him, he'd seriously consider it. I'm sure Sir Alex is gonna be desperate for him cuz we've seen him play at Old Trafford and know what he's all about. And ever since then Fergie has wanted to sign him.
I think you guys should save up all your money (including the FA Cup runners up prize) for SWP. And to be honest with you, he's all you need. SWP and Henry together would be deadly.

Yes, Shay Given would be excellent, I am sure we can tempt him away from Newcastle. I would also like Cudicini, is he available on a free?

Don't know too much about Andrade, I assume he's a centre back? Essien I mentioned, I am sure Wenger is aware of him, after all he plays in France. He would fit in well at Highbury IMO.

I also want to keep Reyes, but lets play him wide left. He doesn't look comfortable up front. Keep Reyes then and rotate him with Pires (who lets face it is not gwetting any younger) and buy a top class forward to rotate with RVP to partner Henry (Totti would be nice).

Looks like Wenger wants to keep Jose too:

Jose no go

So you should keep Reyes and left wing was his natraul postion for sevilla, he dsetroyed Real Madrid on his own in one match from that posion!

Def Reyes as a winger rather than a forward, he's too small and light-weight to be effective as a striker in the EPL. On the wing he can run past people more and accelerate into good forward positions. Plus he can chip in with goals coming from wide positions, ala vs Spurs.

I think there's very little chance of Essien coming to Arsenal. He's publicly stated how he'd love to go to Man Yoo, and Fergie has been targeting him for a while now. Also, the Mirror reckon Chelsea are planning a sneaky raid for him. Probably tabloid bullshit but I wouldnt be surprised!

Arsenal have been linked again with Alexander Hleb from Stuttgart. Does anyone know anything about him? He's a winger/midfielder from what I gather, he has good stats in Pro Evo!

No one really knows if SWP will move but seeing how his step father played for Arsenal, I'm sure he would influence SWP's decision.

Woohoo!! Second place is all but mathematically secure now..

Good first half display but we were real poor in the second. Good that Cescy came up with the clincher.

He was good today along with Reyes and I didnt know Pires could take free kicks.

Ha ha, a gooner that doesnt really know about the team ;) I thought Arsenal outplayed the 'pool over the 90 mintues, and there was really only going to be one winner. And i guess its better u get knocked out in the Q/F's as oppossed to the qualifier!!!

Not true, they played better than us second half, and I think it said Liverpool had 62% possession .

Fabregas outstanding once again, unlucky to just have the one goal in the end. Reyes had another reassuring display with a well taken goal. Senderos gets bigger with every game. A sound performace overall. Liverpool were run ragged in the first half, but their goal gave them a confidence boost and allowed them to get back into the game. 3-1 was a justified scoreline in the end.

Well it looks like we are gonna finish at least 2nd, Wenger hasn't finished outside the top two positions in the Premiership in all of his EIGHT seasons in charge. Thats a phenominal record that no other current premiership manager can match. Before anyone says "he finished 3rd in his first season", he only joined us in the October, so it wasn't a full season.

Anyway, great result yesterday and a couple of great goals. Pires free kick was delightful and what a great move for the 3rd.

Well looks like we have beaten off the challenge of the Mancs again, we even gave them 6 points and they still fucked it up.... :applause:

Oh and Joystick, change your sig, Fabulous is 18 now...

thought we were great in the first half, i thought we were going to get another couple of goals in the second half. but it all changed in the second, Liverpool were much better. I thought it probably deserved a draw, but we showed the extra gusto to get the job down and our young guns were great again, Fabregas and Senderos especially, and reyes also caused alot of problems.

We are going to finish above Man U and hopefully get revenge from the two league defeats and destroy them in the FA Cup final!

I can't wait for that game, i'm nervous already!
