I think Bergkamp is the key. First time he was playing in a while, and the team seemed to be hungry. There was a lot of closing down and more commitment from us yesterday. We should have won by a margin, apart from Given, who was outstanding. Paddy seemed to be up for it too, and wasn't shirking out of tackles.

I think Henry was unlucky with the effort off the post. From the angle he was in, it would have been impossible to rap is foot around the ball and bend it in to the near post. I think he should have hammered it with his left, like he did against Inter in the San Siro.

Oh well, all set for the "ArmsHouse" at Highbury on the 2nd! :D

Its the 1st Feb we play the dirty Mancs.

You are right about Bergkamp, class is permanent. He was excellent on Sunday, great finish for the goal. I thought Flamini was also excellent, he seemed to cover every blade of grass and this let Vieira get on with his game. Fabregas is an excellent prospect but IMO Flamini has to play against Utd as we looked more solid with him and Vieira in the middle.

bergkamp has so much skill he can play for a long time, i liken him to di canio, these guys have so much skill, they really dont need the speed they used to have, that play by bergkamp to set up the touch for the goal was pure brilliance.....

It happened right in front of me and I saw it straight away. I said to my mate that he will get done by the FA for that, not good timing with the dirty mancs game coming up!!

Dirty Arsenal vs Dirty Mancs!!!!!!

Ha Ha I was waiting for that!!

One thing I will say though, and this is mainly going out to all the Utd fans (yes especially you Vannizzle). We have committed the least amount of fouls in the Prem this season and last season won the fair play award so we aint that bad really.

well non dive calls, non elbow calls, henry fould in man u game didnt get called, seems your the luckeist team in the prem.... im not saying arsenal is dirty, im not claiming that, im saying they are like other teams, they have some dirty plays and sometimes they dont, same as united, its ridiculous to say one team is worse then another, and i dont think you can find a stat for non dirty fouls vs
dirty fouls.... so throw your little stat out the window... there is a reason vieria is the most red carded player in prem history, you cannot deny that stat my friend, and then you have to understand the basis of a red card... its not given away for fair play....

just because you get a red card doesn't mean it is right! Vieira got sent off for flicking his foot in the general direction of Ruud Van nistlerooy. And it is widely accepted that Vieira was harshly treated by refs for a period of time.

So there!

pouring syrup on shite doesnt make it pancakes......

your record had to get better cos frankly it couldnt get worse, spitting elbowing, harrassing refs, arsenal have been done for the lot, you average over 10 red cards a year since wenger took over.

LOL, so what, you want praise for stopping shit that shouldnt have been happening in the first place even you cant be that big a pillock....

then again....

Im not denying it but which one of our players spat? I personally cant remember it.

We average about 7 a season, which isnt good, but we try. Weve been better in recent seasons, and currently have the longest run without a red card in the Premiership. 13 months since Cole's derved red against Leicester.

go check out the psv game from CL in november, vieria did a friggin WWE style takedown on the psv player, was a horrible tackle from behind, jumpend in, two feet first from behind, swept the legs.... and the hilarity of this guy is against newcastle last weekend he goes in hard on a slide tacke agianst bernard(who mind you is running and has the ball), vieria gets hurt, AND HE IS THE LITTLE BITCH COMPLAINING!!!! pretty ironic.....

If arsenal had the odd rush of blood to the head from certain players in certain matches, we still played some of the most exciting and attractive football of the modern day.

If you compare that to the collective butchery that man U dish out to Arsenal everytime they play, because they cannot handle Arsenal, they resort to some of the worst incidents i have seen. But the difference is the Man U players seem to get away with it.

The most dirty, snide and most unsportsman like person I have seen is Ruud Van Nistlerooy, this is one man that has got away with murder. If all the incidents were spotted of Ruud being naughty im sure he would be the most booked player in the league with out a doubt.

You have well exaggerated that Vieira 'foul'. I didnt even think it was a foul. He got the ball first, and his leg followed through. definately wasnt double footed. However Bernards was double footed,he didnt have the ball, and he didnt get the ball. You seem to see things differently coz you blatantly hate Arsenal. Im just stating the fact.

I'm so confused about this whole hate RVN thing. I've seen many, many games of his, and yes he is very aggressive. He shoves, pulls, and tugs everytime he's fighting for a ball. He holds his arms to shield the ball a bit too high, resulting in a free elbow if you want to move in on him. He lunges at balls he probably has no right going for and he is very aggressive. All of these things are trademarks of at least half the strikers in the world. He doesn't have the finesse, speed, or skill of Henry, yet per game he scores more goals. So if him being a cheat is the only way this is feasible to you, then I guess that's your perogative.

The incident always cited is when he got Viera sent off. Lets review this incident, and what actually happened. Viera kicked out with his studs up in Ruud's direction. I personally don't think it was meant to actually make contact, but I'll leave that to personal interpretation. Ruud jumped backwards and shouted. He did not fall down, and clutch any fake injury. Can you really, REALLY, imagine any other footballer would have done any differently?

I'm so sick of all this bullshit, both teams are pretty close in terms of talent, hence their proximity in the league. Can't we just get on with it and hope for a good match of quality football?

your a funny one mate, see vanns post above, arsenal had more fould that day then man u.... i will agree you play fantastic football, but to call united buthchers is ridiculous.... yoru comments about ruud are ridiculous, ruud plays something called defense, something henry has ZERO concept of... this is all getting out of hand, as your views on ruud are so off base, i

you didnt think it was a foul, but about 20 people in the pub i was in, the ref on the pitch, and the BBC commentators sure did... seriously what the fuck are you talking about, you sure you were watching the right match? My roomate is an aresenal supporter(born in london) and he said at the time, vieria is so dumb with these stupid fouls, i dont hate arsenal, i just think you guys are blind, rooney does stupid shit all the time, keano fouls people as well, its not isolated to arsenal, i think robbie savage is as dirty as they come... please explain to me the bernard foul, why was viera on the ground tacking bernard, what the hell did bernard do wrong?

Oooooo calling me names now!! Grow up pal. How old are you? 10?

I am not looking for praise at all. We get called a dirty side when we are no worse or no better overall than any other team. I was trying to make the point that we have been improving up to a point now that this season we are the best behaved team. Thats a fact.

I think you have the wrong game mate, Vieira was red carded in this one for clean tackle FROM THE SIDE. To say the Red card was harsh is an understatement. So don't say it was from behind when it wasn't.

csaunders: 'yoru comments about ruud are ridiculous, ruud plays something called defense, something henry has ZERO concept of... this is all getting out of hand, as your views on ruud are so off base'

My views are off base to you because you are very blinkered. How I described Ruud in my post is how I (and many others) see him. It is very funny that you said Ruud plays 'defense' and just dismiss what I said above. I'm very glad Henry doesn't play 'defense' because if he was anything like Ruud I would dislike him very much.

One final point, the only reason it is getting out of hand is because you are very aggressive and not willing to see the world from a different perspective (i call it reality) where Ruud and some of his fellow team mates are worse than many Arsenal players.

Vieria spat at Neil ruddock, you call Utd fans blinkered and then spout so much shite about you being hard done by and Utd getting away with murder. Vieira is the dirtiest player in the history of the Premiership......Fact, In his defence he has started to get his temper under control, but for the spitting incident alone, the man will never have my respect, great players dont need to do that.

Vieira was sliding along the floor for a loose ball, and he got it. However Bernard came in with a double footed challenge without getting the ball.

And you still manage to criticise the Arsenal player.

bicker bicker bicker...

Nice to see the maturity on this thread is as high as ever! :mryellow:
Its like I was never away...

How are all you lot then?

Well its a big one tonight. I am quietly confident but am not going to make any bold predictions that will come back and bite me. Hopefully it will be an exciting game with us edging it!

Come on you Reds!!

In the words of Kevin Keegan... "I would Love it if we beat them... Love it.... (throw 80's headphones on the floor)"... :D

Should be a good game, and the duel between Ronaldo and Ashley should be good to watch. Iceman starting today, but i'm sure Ratboy Snr is looking forward to being aquainted with young Jose.

Hopefully a good game with mutual respect like the Chelsea game at Highbury... fat chance!
