ArmA 2: for PC and Xbox 360.

Release date 26th June 2009?

505 GAMES ARMED FOR ARMA II
MILITARY SIMULATION SHOOTER IS GIVEN 26TH JUNE RELEASE DATE
Milton Keynes, 29th April 2009 - 505 Games and Bohemia Interactive today confirmed 26th June as the long anticipated European release date for ArmA II. The sequel to Bohemia Interactive’s celebrated military shooter promises to deliver more of the authentic battlefield experience the series is famed for, while developing each area of game play with expansive new features.

Featuring the most realistic warfare ever, ArmA II promises to build on the excellent features that have made Bohemia Interactive a respected name among gamers. Players can expect in-depth team-based combat, a comprehensive playbook of military tactics and an enormous battlefield to push strategy to the limit.

ArmA II benefits from a 3rd generation game engine that has been in constant development for 10 years; no other developer can offer such a great heritage in creating open-world military shooters. The Bohemia engine has been recognised as a benchmark in producing realistic warfare simulations to such an extent that the developer has used its Real Virtuality engine as the basis for training simulators used by armies across the globe, including the United States Marine Corps, UK Ministry of Defence and Australian Defence Force.

This experience is also helping Bohemia Interactive to craft an incredibly detailed storyline, full of political intrigue and plot twists, which blurs the boundaries between fact and fiction. Set in the near future in a fictional post-Soviet country called Chernarus, players take on the role of a United States Marine Corps Force Recon squad, who are called to the country as a peacekeeping force to prevent further civilian casualties and ensure ongoing stability.

“It has been a pleasure building on the success of the first ArmA title,” commented Alex Price, Senior Global Brand Manager, 505 Games. “ArmA has such a vociferous community behind it that we new we had to get this one absolutely right. We are confident that the dedicated fans won’t be disappointed as will as any newcomers to the series.”

ArmA II will be released for 26th June exclusively for PC. For all the latest information please visit www.arma2.com

placebo is the release date legit? last i heard, it was a release date set by the publisher and not the devs themselves and later the release date got taken down off the publishers official website.

placebo whats the news?

I wish they'd hurry up and confirm which next-gen console they're using. I do plan on getting this on the PC, which will probably mean an upgrade of my Radeon 4350 HD card, but if it was out on the PS3 I would definitely get it on that, so that all my gaming is in one place and to save money.

I'm still playing ArmA on the PC now, loads of fun in COOP - give us a release date for ArmA 2 already! :)

I cannot confirm or deny any news about the console version due to:

To provide some more "insider info" about console development. The obligatory rule with titles published on consoles is that until you can announce exact details about the title, including a publisher, you cannot publicly confirm anything about the console title, not even the fact you are developing the title on the console.

Hence we cannot confirm anything and the status of the console versions stays TBD.

All I can say is that as a 360 owner I'm happier that I have a 360 than a PS3.

Also here's a little smidgen of how buildings can change during the course of a battle:

That looks fantastic. Have you heard anything more about the movement of the characters? Hopefully they can climb, jump etc in ArmA 2 as it can be frustrating at times stuck behind a tree or wall for example.

No worries about the console situation. I'll go with my gut instinct, as there are bound to be a greater proportion of PC gamers playing this. It's just me trying to do things on the cheap :).

Well you can consider our release and the publisher release date as two lines that go off in the distance and meet together at some point, the point they meet at is definitely somewhere around End of June, give or take a couple of weeks, maybe in the next couple of weeks that date will be confirmed by everyone, really can't say right now (as in I have no clue, rather than it's a secret I can't tell!) :)

Well no I'm not really beta testing it, but yes I have the latest build downloaded to my PC, more for my own self interest than anything else :) I'm sure I'll get a freebie version for PC but long term I would be more likely to play a console version as I just don't do PC gaming these days, although obviously I have a personal interest in ArmA2 so I probably will play it and some of the mods/missions that come out :)

Those images are stunning. People labelled Killzone 2 as the best looking game ever made (although to be honest I don't really see why) but this slaps the shit out of killzone 2'
===

What's the difficulty of this going to be then? I don't know why but those screens make me assume its going to be up there in 'if you get shot you die' difficulty range.

Not that I want a silly halo style health but if you take a shot in the leg and stomach do you die after a while or is the game forgiving and let's you 'heal' over time?

If this has already been answered then I'm sorry, I stayed away from this thread until recently as I didn't have a pc even close to being able to run this.

Simply wow. The attention to detail is astounding, from the blades of grass to the brick work and road signs. Can't wait to see more gameplay vids.

Actually almost no questions have been answered about specifics of the game so you needn't worry ;) Historically it's a very unforgiving series of games, however ArmA2 will have a number of skill levels and sliders so you can adjust the difficulty and visual aids to completely suit your own preference :)

i cant believe they are in game screenshots.

We don't edit pics :) Of course we take 100 pics and choose the absolute best ones but that's as far as it goes :)

My PC is pretty average these days I think, and it runs great and looks fantastic, will get round to taking some screenshots at some point :)

Will there be much difference between the PC and 360 version?
