Anth's FC24 Gameplay Mod

Hey im using fifa mod manager, so im expecting the “fuzzy” screen

I think i got it but im not sure

Does it look like tv static on the screen before you select your personal settings?

When i used the frostbite tool it had henry & bergk at the entry screen so it was a bit more obvious

Yeah fuzzy is working on FMM. It's just because I export out of FMT and the textures aren't working properly in that regard so the picture isn't showing up, but the fuzz shows it works at least haha.

I use FMM as well for launching and FMT for editing.

Yeah at the very beginning when you launch the game.
 
I can absolutely see where you are going with V13, and in principle I like the thought of having carrying the ball being a risk (especially with low skilled players). The same goes for trying to control a pass with low skilled players. It seems to me, in the process of achieving this, the controller response has gone down significantly. The result is that I am having a very hard time defending, and the CPU being able to find spaces in my defence without any problems at all. I can see the spaces myself, but the slow response time of my players when I try to close the gaps makes this impossible at times. There are, of course, chances that this is just me being a poor player, and I may just need more time to get used to it. I also noticed that my players do not seem to respond that well to my input when trying to clear a corner, often resulting in me losing the duel and the CPU getting a header on goal. I have not been able to play a lot of games on V13 yet, so I will keep trying. Hopefully Bolton will let me keep my job 🙏

On a positive note, I have seen things in V13 that I have not seen in FC 24 before. So great work @Anth James :APPLAUD:
 
A good example of the type of goal you can score with the free ball. Everything combining together leads to so many more natural moments of play.

Ps: I know the net needs adjusting haha.

Yeah the nets are getting pretty off putting I must say. It's only really been a problem in the last couple of gameplay mods too, is it something you've tweaked or is it a symptom of EA's TU6 that has caused an odd conflict?

Great that you're seeing new things though! This is just a general comment and not directed at you, but there are some core things that have changed from the default FC24 game in terms of patterns etc. I will keep refining things as needed, but the truth is that it's necessary to do this in order to create some true differences and more unpredictable elements of play. If we stick to particular default ways, sure I can do it, but we're never going to break out of some of the stubborn patterns that exist. Some of those patterns are there due to rigid and predictable touches, positioning, distances etc. Just something to keep in mind.

So I'll admit I've all but given up on Fifa/EAFC. I had 23 and put a tonne of gameplay mods, yours included but could never really find the right fit.
I saw origin let me have a 10 hour trial of EAFC24 so I thought why not download your mod and give it a go, all the videos looked promising.

I'm finding it hard to tell what is EAFC24 and what is your mod but I'm genuinely pleasantly surprised, this is miles ahead of what came before.

I'd say a few more tweaks (pass accuracy is a little high for league 2 and overall shots are maybe 10-15% too high (I was playing on the 20m half matches on the slow version of your v11). Really well done overall though, every shot they had I felt they'd earned and you're damn right about world class being much harder than usual 😅, I had to sweat to pull level.

Nice to know the Fifa23 issue of the game crashing when you try to look at match stats after about 80m in a match when playing 20m halves is still around (this is a vanilla issue don't worry), so unfortunately I couldn't show you the detailed stats. I must have blocked the AI shots about 5-7 times though throughout the match with my very defensive (and pretty awful) team.

I will absolutely keep going, no way of playing the game without your mod after having done so with it. The game is a totally different one after all the work you have put into it. Hopefully I can improve my game and stop conceding.
 
Having played a few more matches on a few different leagues/player levels, I feel like league 2/1 could do with upping a little, specifically their defensive awareness and desire/ability to shoot from longer range. I've found the gameplay doesn't feel quite as nice, it should be more scrappy for sure, but right now something just feels missing. I'm not sure if values can be increased for lower level players a bit more?

Sorry, just saw. Yeah FC24 is a definite upgrade over FIFA 23, especially in some key areas. Might be subtle to some, but big for me anyway.

The mod has progressed well too. V13 has some big differences from the V11 you're on at the moment, but always working towards improving again. A larger passing error system is on the cards for the future, but I have to tread very carefully as it can dramatically interfere with CPU passing variety, and V13 has the best I've got out of it, so baby steps to get there.

The midfield feels really tight and tense, maintaining possession is a challenge, and I like that a lot also.

Just a question-- do v12 or 13 bump up the fouling a little more? I'm still getting just like 1-2 fouls a game from the CPU. I'd like to see a few more fouls, maybe a penalty or two, maybe more dangerous free kicks. Would be nice to see free kick specialists be more of a threat.

Thank-you man. Yeah v11 hadn't addressed fouls at all. v12 and 13 I've definitely increased the 'scope' for fouls. To explain this more, this is what I wrote on my Patreon release regarding fouls -

3. Further increased the 'scope' for fouls.

What is the 'scope' for fouls? Well it means that there is now a dramatically increased opportunity for the CPU to tackle from a massively increased range of angles and distances.

The CPU is programmed in this game to defend in essentially three ways - contain, stand tackle and slide tackle. I would love to see them perform more 'physical' defending such as shirt pulling and holding, but to date I haven't seen this in any of the existing programming or possible changes.

However, the CPU are now better at containing (not perfect still, but improved from before) and will perform more tackles (as I said, hugely increase scope for this).

This change hasn't come from one or two simple value changes, it's come from dozens of tweaks and adjustments.

It's important that everyone is aware that the mechanics of the game impact how much can be changed. The scope for fouls is hugely increased and I play games where the CPU will foul me 10 times sometimes.

I can also play games where there's significantly less fouls. It depends on many things, including your style of play (as much as people don't like to hear that - it's true).

I don't want to create a situation where the ref calls fouls for the sake of fouls and blows the whistle when players have any kind of collision. What is introduced here is not that!


I'm having a considerably increased number of fouls when playing, and I know others are also. Some aren't either which also makes sense considering the mechanics. Hope this helps!
 
For those following - PROGRESS today! Finally, after many months, I've figured out how to get a hold of this retreating from the defensive line etc. I have a lot of control over it now - but here comes the challenge of refining and covering many different situations to ensure it's stable. The result is going to be a much more improved midfield even from V13.

Guys, this happens every TU. I'm hoping Paul is able to update FMT so I can re-export out a version that works with TU7. I always recommend turning automatic updates off, so you can keep TU6 until the software has been updated.
