2010 FIFA World Cup

There's still no system for leaning into a player without a press button.

I always use Cancel in every challenge between two players. You'll free yourself up from the rail and can push the other play just like you want. Not running on the rail also makes sure your player doesn't automatically run slow, so you can often just sprint in and push him off the ball. Works very well.

Not as well as X ;)

I still think removing guidance of some sort would be football gaming suicide. But you never know, someone might come up with a working system like this.

amateur level.
QUOTE]

You just said it. Amateur and that is why you cant shoot with both feet.

I play at AC Milan and will turn pro in October.
Yeah yeah yeah, is that it? All this talk about people playing pro, well listen buster i played in a merseyside derby, in the 1st half i scored 3 for Liverpool and then scored 4 for Everton in the 2nd half then i got subbed and got a cab and scored the winner for Tranmere in the last minute of added on time. Then still went on the piss and had to play for England the next day.:P

Jockey is currently too far away from a player for you to then just press a button to tackle. I suggested to EA that maybe you should be able to use your left stick at the same time as the jockey press to modify it, e.g to block a passing path or force a player out wide.

There's still no system for leaning into a player without a press button.

I think the current implementation of jockeying is alright if you use it intermittently. Jockeying forces your player to face a dribbler straight on so there's less tendency of the latter in wrong-footing you and I find that it's best to keep switching between jockeying and running to get within reach of a tackle. Or hit the jockey button only when you're very close so you can immediately perform a more effective standing tackle using the player's legs, as opposed to shoving away with the shoulder as any player would when he's not facing the dribbler.

And there's no system for leaning? Not exactly sure what you're referring to here but I've been adapting a new playing style lately of just using the left stick and pushing against a dribbler to steal the ball and it works most of the time. Gotta give kudos to EA because this method of tackling is very effective in WC2010 so I'm glad I don't have to constantly rely on the pressure button.

I'm glad it works for you, but I find that type of left stick leaning pretty impotent, especially against the CPU on legendary. Countless times I've been contesting a ball with the left stick with someone like Rio, been struggling to make headway against a fairly mediocre forward, and then remembered that I'm meant to be pressing X. I press X, and have won the ball within a second of doing so, as opposed to spending the next twenty yards battling for it with the left stick.

Right guy, how do you win headers? For some reason I can't do it in this game. Any 50/50 lands on the AI's head.

I found my first bug.

England v Germany in the third place match in the WC Finals, and i was bringing on Walcott for Lennon and Milner for Barry.

Joachim Löw was sending them on to the pitch, and then greeting them when they came off!!

Nice one EA :) Something we all don't know? Löw for England manager after the WC?

I don't agree ;)

As far as I can tell, when you use Cancel the other player can't really push back like when you are locked, so you can't really lose the challenge unless you sprint pass him and miss the ball. With Cancel you can also do these almost ridiculous hockey tackles, because you can arch out and then smack into him sending him stumbling away. Do that with X if you can :SMUG:

IceMan_Bergkamp: That bug was even in the demo and they didn't bother fixing it.

I have seen the mix up of coaches in the cut-scenes...also Ivory Coast dosent have a manager...not in the cut-scences whatsoever...And have you people noticed some real boots do not show up on players even though they are assigned in the edit player page? Example...Peter Crouch's Pumas dosent show up in a match.

Thats an issue with some puma boots, so far ive spoted these:
Eto'o
Meirelles
Camoranesi
Crouch
Gervinho
M.Gomez

If u go on the editor and assigen them to one of those 3 avalible pumas theyll be fine in game.

I hope they will sort this out in the next update...and perhaps add a few more new boots?

A few other things i notice is that...when you change a players number,it will not be changed unless you repeat changing it for at least twice?

Another point is that...when you choose your profile team...your default team dosent always shows up when you want to edit players...

Neither does Nigeria. Probably because EA hates swedish people.

(or more likely because they've both signed new coaches recently)

Scored this with full manual against a friend of mine a couple of days ago with some crappy Puerto Rican player: YouTube - Figueroa manual long shot

I've noticed the pace boost actually. As if the tussle slows you down more when locked on the ball. I've done the arc out and in again a few times but it's unreliable. I've conceded fouls or had the AI turn away while I was arced out.

Besides which the smacking back into the player is exactly what the pressure button is designed for - ignoring the fact that you can shove the player away with X without having to arc away, you can still arc back in with X and omit that risk of running past the ball!

Hopefully FIFA will take steps to reduce the importance or increase the relative timing of the pressure tackle, but I'm as convinced that guidance of some sort in a 360 degree game is as crucial to bringing up the minimum standard of defending as proper use of jockeying and judicious use of the guidance system should be to mastering the defensive side of the game.

LMAO the opposite happened to me (Capello brought out German substitutes and I went wtf?!?)

I read that non qualifying teams ie Wales won't have a manager, so don't appear in cut scenes. By the way this is the best footy game ever, for those who think it's too similiar to Fifa 10 well all I can say is this is so much better, crossing, headers, pace, keepers, realistic reactions, ball physics, replays, shooting, pitches and graphics. Once I played this, I couldn't go bac k to Fifa 10. Just hope they keep it updated and fix any bugs.

I agree with the replays, and sometimes they still stutter. Also when the players are coming on the pitch it judders, if they can't programme it to run smooth then don't put it in. And at the end of a match even if you win 8-0 you will see one of your players looking angry with his head in his hands? and why would players from the same team want to swap shirts!!!!

Apart from that, it's the greatest footy game ever, can't wait for Fifa 11

Agreed, it's a very good game.

It's better than 10 for sure but it's got a lot of problems a patch or two wont do for 11...

Hopefully they'll fix the logic for this. It's pretty annoying when key moments of the game are left out and you're faced with the ball rolling to the keeper instead. I'd understand if some stuff was being erased from memory on X360 but on PS3 they dump the whole match to your hard drive - you can rewind back to match kickoff. Would it be that hard to add a small list of times and durations (of longer than 5 seconds) to the hard drive and come back to it at the end?

Well after more playing last night the flaws in this game are really coming through. Defending is nigh on impossible and CPU attacking ai for players you're not controlling is non existant. I may as well have Steven Hawking and Stevie Wonder up front.
