I gotta say this first and foremost. this is the BEST fifa game i've EVER played....
i started my soccer gaming experiences with fifa world cup 2002 on gamecube. back then i thought it was amazing, but then after modding my gamecube I saw the beauty of Winning eleven with Winning eleven: final evolution. that game was remarkable. It felt real it felt like strategic chess game. it was fantastic. soon there after I found out that since it didn't sell well on the Cube in japan that konami would no longer make it for the gamecube. that bummed me out and convinced to buy a PS2 and to mod it as well. I then played ONLY winning eleven. WE7,8,9 and now 10:). i played a few of the fifa's along the way fifa 2003,2004 and 2005 to 2006. all of which were only marginally better from each other but extremely UNPLAYABLE. now in 2006 with the XBox 360 we see the next gen of soccer games(sorry i'm from the states). fifa 06 RTTWC I bought along with my 360 just about 2 weeks ago now. RTTWC was not good in any way unfortunately . unplayble yet OK to look at in some parts. yet through videos and hope i wanted to get The new fifa...fifa world cup 2006.

now my review begins.........

:lmao: Is this a joke? NO! it is not. Ths game is great and makes me owning a 360 completely worth it.

I'll start with the cons first. after about 3hrs of testing EVERYTHING

Slowdown. there are times when the game can kinda skip or stutter while the ball is passed around or shot at goal. Howvber this is remedied by just NOT playing in ANY dusk stadium.

...and that it.

pro's:

In order to really experience this game at it's best i play this way.
new analog control similiar to WE
camera angle at Sideline
height at lowest and zoom at highest.
Amateur level.
Gamespeed normal. If you go into slow OR fast the game stutters bad well not THA bad but it's smooth like normal is.
I also avoid ANY dusk stadium as the light tends to add to the stutter. i also noticed that the more rough a pitch looks the worse the gameplay can be meaning jittery.

that aside.

the new shooting mechanics are finally feeling better and more realistic.
the dribbling is BETTER than WE by a landslide. The dribbling looks better in my opinion as well.
penalty kicks. this new way of taking penalties is truly next gen nothing like it i've ever seen remarkable a full 1.0 point just becasue of it.
Player likeness. i adore adriano and they've done him perfectly.
passing,etc is much much better
and...Graphics. RTTWC looks like shit compared to it. beautiful.

everything said and done. i'm not drunk i'm not stupid just logcal.
this game is great on the 360. It plays very close to how football kingdom did. meaning Fk wanted to be We yet it was being itself. same goes for fifa world cup 2006.

i love it.

P.S. I will not play another PS2 game anymore, it's time for the new consoles...

Although, I respect your view, however totally disagree.

True WE veterans, will realize and notice right away, how pathetic and poor the gameplay is for this game. It's the same old EA crap guys. Nothing has changed. The player models are comical to say the least, at least their bodies. The faces are the only positive thing I see. And only some of them.

Playing this game is like playing with a plastic ball/players etc..
It is nothing compared to WE. Never will be. The game feels scripted in many aspects, and not realistic at all, gameplay wise. The way the players run is hilarious!

The only things I would take from this game would be the pitches/stadiums/pk's and some close up shots of players during and before gameplay.

I honestly do not recommend this game to true die hard WE Vets.

I've been playing every installment of WE / Pro Evo since WE 5 and ISS before that. So I consider myslef a WE Vet and this is the first FIFA I have found enjoyable since world cup 98' can I ask which format you are basing your opinions on?

I am basing my opinion on the 360 version. And it is the same if not worst than RTFWC 06. I cannot fathom how WE Vets would like and enjoy this unrealistic games. Football Kingdom is Miles better than this piece of crap.

I guess its a matter of opinion, and to me and 99% of the people it plays different to RTWC also have to disagree with your last comment , while I admit it not being up to WE standards it's better than Football Kingdom. It's just a fun game to me nothing to take too seriously, that might change when I start a world cup though. ;)

We can agree to disagree. Your opinion is well taken, however there is no way this Plastic FIFA crap is better than Football Kingdom. NO WAY!

But, it's all good and nothing hurts!

Im quite bored of the WE/PES series lately... so might get this as it will last me a week or more... so I'd really like to know if its worth my 60 euros.

I got bored of RTWC in a few days... didnt even do the tournament - just online. If its similar to this game, then I wont bother. I found RTWC to be repetetive and boring, so if WC 2006 has more playability (unlimited ways to score like in PES), I might think about it.

jflores have you actually even played this game? doesnt sound like it.... and how can you say football kingdom is better!!??

DJDOC, I have played this game. And it Blows!

EA's representation of Futbol via this game (gameplay wise) does not do justice to the real sport, not to mention WE or Football Kingdom.

Football Kingdom was more fun in every aspect to me. That fun lasted longer than this verion of EA intended. That's my opinion.

My main gripe of FIFA is still being given only a handful of super common formations that have no depth. Pro Evo at least has many variations of those common formations aside from allowing you to fully create your own formations and tactics. Why can FIFA not even have the different variations to the standard formations? I understand they are lazy and dont want to create the depth of custom formations, but at least give me more than the 5-7 common formations.........

I will say this FIFA is much better than any FIFA has even been close to, but I still want............take that back, need more depth. Am I the only person who finds it utterly pathetic that PES5 on a PSP has more depth than FIFA on the Xbox 360? Hell, I bet the NDS version of PES/WE will have more depth.:lmao:

I guess I'm just a customization fool:)

I do agree with those points about formations.

i sadly have to agree with you...never thought i'd say something like this...but i need an good alternative to WE....:(

Well i´ll see tomorrow if the game isnt as good as i thought, based on pc demo. I will give you honest opinnion when i have played it some time. i have been playing PES for some time started with ISS pro evolution for PS1 and then having PES3 4 and 5 for PC and PS2.

Well, I'm finally happy someone at least didn't disrespect my opinion. Many times you say somthing postive towards something and someone will outright bash not the game your defending but the person defending the game.

I agree. Some people forget that in a sense we are all "WE brothers" and should respect our opinions/views.

If the whole world had the same views/opinions, it would be a very boring world to live in.

Peace!

just had a good hour on the original xbox

i like it, i played a few games with england and chile and it was fun. shooting is a lot better, passing is ok, crossing is ok. its a fun game and i'll probably buy it for the 360

Yeah its not a bad game at all and the official xbox magazine gave it 8 out of 10 which is a fair scoreline, they did make the point that they think this is more of an arcade game than a simulation. I hope PES on the 360 will be good too of course.

DJ

played the ps2 version, played a few friendlies and played through the world cup once with england and probably won't play it again

positives

presentation
stadiums
commentary
skin textures have been improved so players don't look like they've gotr 3rd degree burns anymore
throw ins give you control of the player recieving the throw instead of the thrower, always prefered this system and wish konami would use it

also like the way in the final group games it keeps you informed of the other result in your group so you know exactly where you stand and whether you need to go for it or can relax, the score is flashed up on the screen but the commentator also mentions it as well which adds to the atmosphere

negatives

player models are ugly and a lot of the animations are poor especially when you shoot, the players foot seems to strike the ball then stop dead instead of playing through it, just looks crap

heading is crap, most of the time players don't even leave the floor but just seem to lean forward onto the ball, when they do jump for the ball it's about as high as an overweight elephant wearing lead boots

shooting still feels random, it's probably not but i'm used to having a lot of control where i place the ball but in this it just seems the higher the difficulty level the higher the chance of the keeper saving

my main gripes are with the ai and tactics, as far as i can tell you can only set the formation, lineup & set piece takers and have no way of giving players individual instructions, the ai (well scripting) is very poor, it's hard to describe but watch the radar, if you're playing a 4-4-2 your defenders and midfielders will hold their line in 2 banks of 4 with the midfield just inside your own half and nobody will attempt to make a forward run unless you move the ball into certain positions which seems to trigger the script, this results in sweet spots where you know you'll have a good chance of scoring so you just spend the game trying to work the ball into these spots

it's ok for a quick pick up and play but if you want a bit of depth then it comes nowhere near we10

Played the xbox version and got to say its a pile of steaming pish put on hardest setting England V Brasil and scored in 20 seconds from kick-off absolute crap i wouldn't wish this game on my worst enemy. It even has frame rate problems with lots of stutter here and there, and as for the graphics the players look like they have just had their readybreak with the orange glow that they transmit about their faces, my advice - give this a wide birth and stop lining eA pockets for the worst series ever, unless of course you find WE/PES too hard. I have already thrown the disc in the bin i wouldn't even rent this tosh. I hope to try the 360 demo when its available to compare but i don't hold my breath........Do like the plague and avoid - you been warned now...

agreed. Still we10 this year is beautiful. the control is utter freedom to do anyhting with the ball.

good to see someone else enjoying it ill pick up my 360 copy tomorrow from my local gamestation.

DJ

no one what so ever seems to be putting the game out early.. rang a few independants and they aren't saying much and GAME and what not have said they can't break release date.

for fx sake i want the game now, this street date nonsene gets on my nerves. Its stocked up in every shop and you can't buy it,

plus the demo still aint out...
=

whatever, i will get my copy tomorrow also. yet alone to just finally play my club's stadium licensed in a game. and it can't be that bad.

Which stadium would that be OPM? even though RTFWC was poor it was nice to see high def Old Trafford :):)

DJ

to me this game is fun. while SOME of the gameplay is scripted STILL IF say you play a good defensive match you can end the game with the penalty shootout which is just such a reward. The penalty kicking feels very very natural and real as does the free kicking so... it's a game that has that ohh wait til this ciomes up feel which usually worldc up games kinda have. the overall game is decent but the visuals combined with these few real worthwhile extras are perfect. buy a hdtv to play this next week.
