5. Teamvision : He noticed difference in strategy and said that the CPU adapts to your style . No more stupid or illogical moves by CPU (at least almost) and they really do learn from mistakes. If you win the home game in a cup match and CPU played with one striker, they will come at you with 2 or 3 strikers during return game. CPU switches in strategy aswell (long ball, counter, pressure, etc)
6. No Bundesliga or lower leagues, he did however notice 22-25 slots coloured black when choosing a team. Probably empty slots for new teams.
7. He would give nothing away about the big surprise….Guess we still have to speculate…
8. Passing is much better. Players handle the passes better, more lifelike. If they fumble a ball, they do their best to regain it with awesome tackling. Shooting has improved aswell and turning too.

I think knoami are being lazy with the grass actually, ive changed my mind, as soon as you go low down on the camera the quality of the grass is good for about 3 cm's, then its all flat.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Im sure its more to do with what beta version these guys are playing (people have had 75% beta's, other have had 85% beta's). Last year the earlier beta pics from pes6 360 had flat grass, yet the later ones had it in 3d (even when down low). Either way does anybody really care what the grass looks like at that angle?! Nobody will look at it from there anyway. The only time it happend in pes6 was with kickoff when the camera would zoom into the boots and ball in the centre circle and you could see the 3d effect.

Overall the grass looks surprisingly decent, you only have to check the ps2 version of j-league to see they still havent realised that pitches arent mown by a drunken groundsman swaying back and forth to create jaggies.

Its great we can put all licences (PL and Bundesliga) thanks to option files in evo-web, i talk to PC version ^^

That "Blomfentein" stadium's pitch (or whatever it's called) has been included since PES3 or 4 and has literally given me headaches before now. Big fuck-off plough lines all over the pitch, how the hell have they left that in for so long...

The PES6 faces were taken from photos though.

I think its more to do with "physically" placing a picture into the game to create the content. First you would have to either take all the pictures yourself, or come to arrangements with the copyright holder of the original image. And then you might possibly also end up with the image rights of individual players (kahn going to court springs to mind). I think thats why they would just reproduce the content through artists instead of the "insert photomap mode".

Although seeing as they have the FIFpro license to reproduce players they could possible just use their photo's. Although an annoying problem with that is seen in fifa07, where half your players in the squad/player info screen doesnt have an actual picture and is just a black siloutte. Makes the game feel unfinished imo, when you have a gerrard pic, but not a crouch one.

LOL, i thought about that yesterday when i played on JLWE2007CC.

if that pitch makes it into pes2008 then i will be really suprised.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

I doubt it very much. The faces are great but you can tell they're not photos, they're not photo-realistic. Don't get me wrong, I think some in-particular are amazing (I mean look at Beatts's avatar, WOW), but they're obviously "drawn".

I don't understand why they don't, to be honest. Perhaps you're just not allowed to take a photo of someone and 3D-model it (unless you have the 301 licenses EA have), who knows.

That Seabass pic doesn't look realistic either though.

What the face scanning simply does is assesses your face parts, ie it scans your nose and converts it into PES face attributes.

So it scanned Seabass' face and came up with for instance...

Skin colour: 4
Nose shape: 12
Nose length: 3
Nose width: 5
Nose distance from mouth: 2

etc...

And made a face, and if you made a face from scratch, and put in the very same numbers, you'd get what looks like Seabass, the same results you got from the photo.

I renamed that stadium to "Dont Use". And then reconfigured each teams' stadium. That got rid of that bitch of a stadium/pitch. Although i did find that i always had some more difficulty winning on that pitch, but that was more to do with not being able to see the ball properly then the opposition.

Glad the nextgen has removed the jaggy lines though, that really pissed/s me off when artist cant even get such an important, and simple element, correct. Yet you have one look at what the stadium editors do and you can see how much better the game looks with a pitch with straight lines. I cant understand how they continue with those ridiculous black/white texture files. Lazyness I guess, bit like the ML :(

Speaking of stadiums, has the stadium been recognised from the ronaldo kicking pics? Cant remember that one being in pes6 and i guess it looks like benfica's stadium, if i remember correctly.

Because no program has been written for them to follow he ball with their heads.
It's really stupid to have subs sitting on the bench not even following the match and not moving like a statue unless he has to warm up

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

Well on one of the pics that came out yesterday the game options were on there and by ball selection it had some rebook ball so rebook are still in the PES franchise, but maybe not WE (Puma isn't it ?)

Proof :

Rebook are in there, hope for nike/ adidas balls look dim :( Well there are probably a few Adidas balls.

No mate the scanning is just applying a texture to an existing model. Look closer at this pic.

Unfortunatly its not the same system tiger woods uses where it gereates a 3d model. It's more like the system used in the Tony Hawk Games THUG2? i think.

Which was the 1st Konami footie game where players could turn their heads to look at the ball?

Wrong.. look at the creases on the eyes. It's taken from the photo.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Yup, he's right, is applying a texture, look at the wrinkles on the eye, it's identical, I don't think the game has an eye option that happened to be identical to Seabass's eye, also, look at the moustache, I don't think the game has a moustache that looks exaclty like Seabass. It is a texture.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

What I want to know is what the text is on Seabass' shirt? Is it text from in-game meaning we can apply sponsors and fonts to custom shirts?

I see it now with the way his upper left eyelid is creased diffeently than the left.

It must create a 3D nose based on his outline, it's not like they'd build a face, and then just stretch a textures map over it.

The bad thing about this is if the eyes are a texture how do they blink or show emotion. :(

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

That I have no idea, I really don't know how all that is going to work.. Hopefully they came up with something that will give the face an expression

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Because it will have recognition of some description....

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

guys i dunno if u noticed this but on the drogba pic vs turkey theres a puma logo on drogba's captain arm band....so this makes me think that puma is licensed, or we can add logos even on the cap arm band using the edit mode.

No, it's like the England armband in PES6 had an England badge in it.

Doesn't matter who makes the kits, if the club is licenced their kitmaker's badge comes with it.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

The crowd looks good on the latest shots of Drogba... and I'm pretty sure the shorts look slightly more realistic now.

I don't really understand what you mean ,all I'm saying it'd be better if the bench was alive that's simple .

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

The eyes of seabass is totally realistic, are the same in the two pics !!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

You can tell the seabass face shapes have been matched in 3D, look at how it's lit from the lft.
