Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

I don't think people are just being negative as much as exasperated Han, another year a next gen another round of tweaks and weak features!!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

But is that really true? We have heared from a few people who actually played the game and the comments were all enthausiastic, without exception!
Maybe we really need to see the game in motion. Even without motion I find the screenies really good, especially the HD-screens.
A lot of people lay them under a microscope and find some misplaced pixels, but you should see the game as a whole.
According to the people who played the game, there was nothhing wrong with the game as a whole...

Not without exception. Jack Bauer's contact was far from impressed. One of the magazine reviews described the gameplay as being virtually the same as PES6.

You know, I could reluctantly live with the same gameplay (so long as TeamVision removed some of the ghastly cpu cheats and made the game less irritating) if there was the prospect of some fantastic new ML structure in which to play. Or even some other fanstastic new feature which would elevate the game.

But as the days go by, we just gets trivial stuff, hair moving, sweat stains, views of the manager of the bench, physics tweaked again (like the do every year - I though it was already supposed to be "perfect").

I'm still waiting for even one single major new feature that doesn't strike me as being just the usual tweaks, that makes me think cool, I can't wait to try that.

Maybe the great news is still to come, but I somehow think if there was something major to announce, we would all have already heard about it.

I used to look forward to a new PES with excitement. This time the feeling is more that of dread...dread that it will be exactly like the last 3 versions of PES.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

we need just a gameplay video to take a point of view of the game.

I expeted that ps3 gameplay change a lot if it compared to ps2 gameplay

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

My fears are not so much for the game play but the off field side that is sooo far behind the rest and has changed squat in the last few YEARS..... I know a lot of people on here just play online and care nothing for the single player or 'career' mode and a few "weird" people think the ML is great.
I just feel a football Sim should be just that, both on and off the pitch. Some of the tweaks for the game play sound promising but given Konamis track record I wonder what has been taken out too, the fact they took out the ability to swap your shorts and shirts is a fine example. There should be a full interchangeable 3 kit system, it's not hard to introduce. Instead they take a step backwards! It's so frustrating!!!!

Not until I've heard what's changed in the ML and what the Fantasista mode involves. I'm not out of here just yet. ;)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

the pics look good IMO.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

I think the pictures look reasonably good, the colours are more vibrant on the HD shots. The facial impressions in my view are a bit of a waste of time because they look utterly contrived, as for the hair it's another poorly implemented gimmick and I don't feel we need any further evidence to come to such a conclusion.

I agree with Winston and my expectations are at an all-time low. Suff continually informs us that the video will blow us away and I hope he is right - but there is a nagging voice in my mind that says if Jack's contact and the magazine review said firstly they are trying to copy FIFA and secondly it is the same as PES6 - we might not be so delighted as he is suggesting.

ThomasGoal can you elaborate on why you think the nets look better? I think they are the same and still have the infamous "breeze blocks". If they haven't improved the net physics I will actually cry.

We might also ask ourselves, do these new screens look good because they are so impressive and truly next-gen? Or because what we have seen trickle through so far has been of such dismal quality.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

Look at the goals. What is holding the net down. Big grey slabs. "Breeze Blocks". I didn't give them that name!

Also did anyone notice on that article the reporter let's us know the Master League has been "pimped up". Well thanks a bloody lot, really useful. Who the hell writes these articles? 12 year olds? I seriously wonder how some people become journalists. They might as well have written "da new game is like wel gud mahn its got swett stainz n stuf and da masta leeague is lush"

For some reason that made me laugh.

Paraphrased:

"I am worried Jack will take his own life now"
"I will NOT! ...well... atleast not until I know what ML is like... If that sucks however... well, goodbye cruel world.

Probably sounded aloy funnier in my head though. ;)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

the next OPM is released on August 1, there should be some info in there.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

Honesly this magazines are always superbiased, I mean they gotta sell and they do so describing the games they played as stunning awsome etc.

Now you won't really sell anything saying "look it is more or less the same as last year".

Like summer transfers rumours, i believe nothing they say but still watch entire programs based on that.....

Anyway as long as i don't hear stuff i care for (winston's list pretty much) I stick to the "it's gonna be the usual update" kind of opinion.

And yes I play on line, but i would be happy to go back to some off line if they put a decent AI.

When you see something like that it puts into perspective the sort of thing Konami could be doing on next-gen platforms.

The "football games have more players than other games" excuse simply doesn't cut it any more.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

One thing you guys wont be complaining about is the graphics. Even at its beta stage it looks incredible, much better than Fifa 07.

As ever though, no point looking pretty and having non-revolutionary gameplay.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

still no one explained to me what GRASS-LEAVES mean...

If you knew the game you would realise its all CGI.
You move your troops around and see the action in clips and CGI but have no control.
