So it's safe to say there is no real career mode then..

Fantasista Mode is a career mode. You choose only one player and start a career. JLWE2007CC have also the fanasista mode.

Not that i care much, but i have NBA 2K7 and compared to that game those screenshots doesn't seem next gen...
Perhaps basket is "easier": less players, less spectators...but still the level of detail in NBA 2K7 is stunning...

But hey, all this screenshots are from angles you never see when playing...this isn't that important...

And about the number of teams...in one of the French or German magazines they would not give details about the number of teams and which teams because Konami were still negociating to obtain licenses...pretty peremature information...it can only get better..

hahahaha nice arabic :D
yse i agree now .. this new pics is amazing
but the old one before ThomasGOAL edit his post wasn't 100/100 good ;)
but now the new screens is simply really amazing :applause:
PTW : can you help in this ? :)

I'm not defending Konami here, but...

These data of players also come with the 3D models of the player.

The reason why SWOS could handle all does teams of players is because the graphics and model were 2D and the memory of each of the players was probably made up of a couple of bytes.

But PES is a 3D game and each player probably takes a couple of MB since they are made up of 3D graphics and all technical stuff.

I'm not an expert in this or anything, this is what i think is the reason why Konami couldn't have so many teams on the PS2 version, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Peace.

Thats not true not every player has or needs their own model.
You can just link basic models when the game plays to whatever name is neccesery.
Thats why edit mode isnt infinite.

Hmm i like the new pics - they are looking better all the time - specially like the ronaldo free kicks pics, the view is right down on the action.

There seem to be a bit of work on some texttures though -

In pic 2 (the kaka diving one) His foot is 'in' the floor. ANd his shorts look to have a glitch.

Also the sharpness of the player numbers and names are spot on - but the badges of the teams are very blurry - like fifas

Izayak ya mimoman,

WENB recognizes how important PES and winning eleven are in the middle east. We are doing our best behind the scenes to get Konami to realise this. I will let you know of any progress that we have. Maybe a future middle east edition of PES or WE with Abu Trika or Yasser Al-Ghahtani on the cover!

We will be using all our links to help Konami. E-mail me, at

suffwan.eltom@winningelevenblog.com

maybe you could help us by getting pictures of the different Winning Eleven lounges in egypt so we can show konami.

I agree I play this game on an SDTV and it looks so amazing.Everything is so alive ,even the subs cheering you up whenever you score a point or going crazy when you dunk on your opponent .I wish Konami would take example of this game

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

Fantista mode is a complete joke.
Why doesnt Seabass understand for something like this to work the game would have to be built around it and not just a mode added into the same game model.
It works in indie games like New Star Soccer 3 because its a SWOS like game where you can see the whole pitch from above.
Playing Soocer is about incstinct and seeing stuff from the corner of your eye etc.

This mode is also taking more away from work to the MasterLeague.

This mode being in the Next Gen games is further prove that these games are created from the new WE10JL PS2 game and not the PS3 which is was never going to be the case.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

After yesterday performances ,you might want to have Malek Amaaz on the cover of the arab PES .

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

Very impressing that you already know that without even seeing that part of the game.
Why not trying to be positive for a change?

but we have seen it.
Its the single player camera mode with an added triangle pointing where the goal is.
Yes it has added bells and whistles where you can get offered a contract from a team etc but knowing konami even this will be incredibly boring just look at their masterleague after 8 years

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

Yep i forgot about that screen BBC.alstar.
I would play it in this camera view
Heres a video that shows Fantista mode being played.

For those who can't get the above link to work, right-click on it, click "copy link location" (or the equivalent in your web browser), and paste it into the address bar. Then it works.

For me, the only two things I'm looking forward to hearing about now are the Master League changes (according to that German PC magazine, there have been changes), and the Fantasista mode. I just hope there's a lot of work been done on them, because the core gameplay sounds way too similar to PES6.

In fairness to Konami, the Fantasista mode is something different, and it's a welcome addition if it adds something new (and if it's any good) to the genre. Big changes are what's needed, in my eyes, now that we have next-gen technology - more than just tweaks. At least they are trying somthing new.

Those "missions" in the video embraceuk1 links to look dodgy, though. One of them seems to suggest you have to be a goalkeeper for a game, to "pass". :eh:

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

Anyone read the news on the blog, yet. There is a link to the German article of PC Action who played the PC version 2 weeks ago.
They say that the diving feature is more or less the chance to officially cheat and if you know how to pull it off properly it works. But beside that they were fully convinced about the gameplay. Unfortunately, they don´t say anything about Teamvision (although they played the game for several hours) or anything else. But they say that the graphics are really detailed.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

I suspect Fantasista mode will be simply like playing in Fixed Cursor mode but with some twee career elements thrown in.

I took to playing a ML in Fixed Cursor mode in WE10JL but gave up after less than half a season. A complete waste of time. Your team mates basically adopt the persona of the Keystone Cops and you end up having to do virtually everything yourself....run back to defence everytime the cpu team attacks because your defenders' AI turns to shit, and your only chance of scoring is to either take on the entire cpu team and score yourself or set it up on a plate for one of your strikers and hope that he actually decides to kick the ball into the open goal rather than stand there picking his nose as the ball rolls right past him. It's woeful.

As for the new ML changes being talked about, don't be surprised if they comprise pub scenes and a few other worthless gimmicks of no consequence whatsoever. I'll be staggered if there are any structural changes at all.

From the outset, I wasn't expecting PS2008 to be the revelation that we might rightfully expect it to be, given the way other games have moved so impressively and beautifully to next-gen, but I think even my own low expectations won't be realised. The more info that comes out about it, the more it sounds like it's basically a port of PES6 to PS3 with the usual annual tweak.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

So we are playing with the same teams and we have the same missing lagues........I wonder whether it is so complicated to get first division teams or some nice argentinian/brasilian leagues.

And please put an option on line where we can decide what kind of team we wanna play with (i.e. 3 stars max) as right now there are 10 teams used.

And still no signs of fifa either, that is probably good, usually they start they BS propanga pretty early and then come up with crap. Now for once they might keep silent and then come up with something good.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/26/07)

Like the screens, but the hairs look pathetic and poorly made.

The dive feature really has me worried now. We all know that it will be abused and completely ruin the online matches. I am very dissappointed that SeabAss added this feature. Oh well...
