Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)
Perhaps it's the bitter experience of recent years with PES, where repeated play has not unearthed a wonderful gaming experience but has, in fact, engendered feelings of disappointment, frustration, anger and even loathing for the way the gameplay has descended into a spectacle of overbearing cpu cheats, that leads one to fear the worst from the comment that it plays practically the same as its predecssor.
It's clear there's going to be different views because some people are perfectly happy with PES6 and don't even notice it's shortcomings. For them, all the little touches in PES2008, like the bench joining in celebrations, will be nice enhancements, icing on the cake.
For others, PES has stagnated and become, at times, a quite horrible game, and the move to next-gen was the one big hope to see the game receive the (r)evolutionary boost that they feel is in desparate need. For them, all the little touches, like the bench joining in celebrations, will be seen as trivial attempts to cover up a lack of genuine progress in the game.
When someone tells me they feel it plays pretty much the same as PES6, then I take from that that little of substance has changed.
Of course, I am still keen to try it for myslef, but if even one of the prevalent cpu cheats reveals itself within the first match, my heart will undoutedly sink. Then again, perhaps it will be fun to list them all again, and spot the new ones served up by TeamVision.
