Yeah, people overhere have microscope-vision

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

are the shadows in the pes image just the strategy buttons?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

What worries me the most is that those teams, PES United and WE United, are always filled with superstar players. And if their defenders are giving you that much room..........

Yes, you would expect better defending from the superstar player, Ranow, when up against superstars Lujimano and Jaromton... Or superstar Heycory against superstar Marsatto.

On second thought, why have I never heard of these superstar players?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

Just wanted to point out one thing that came to my mind when someone here suggested that the game was on easy setting...

We'll never know, and I don't think that it matters that much: only in the final product will we be able to tell if the AI is crap or not.

What made me give this apparently innocent suggestion a second look is something that maybe old-timers will recall. One of the first PS2 Winning Elevens was presented through some short videos, which were goal replays... I sincerely can't remember if it was 5, 6, 7 or 8, and I can't find those videos anywhere... Still, I clearly remember a video where the players did like 20 passes - mostly first touch and back-heels - and the ball would eventually end up in the feet of a striker inside the goal area and he'd just push the ball inside the goal... I believe that they were the Japanese National Team. The thing was that in that clip the defenders would almost stay put, they wouldn't move at all... I recall people complaining that "the game was going to suck, the AI would be crap, etc." and the truth was that, if memory ain't tricking me, they had shot those films on the easy difficulty setting.

Freak out when you actually play it. Also, the Teamvision thingie will also affect your players with off-the-ball movement.

And even though I do agree that the beta builds should have TeamVision AI implemented to some degree, what is it all about, really? It's just a different, more thorough and detailed implementation of a similar intended behaviour: smart players on the field :) So really, I don't think that you'd be able to tell if the betas are using the new or the older AI from just a week of gaming...

Cheers,

Paulo Tavares

Look at the differences.

Top picture has more options.
Top picture pause menu is practically touching the 'player bars'.
Top picture says 'Pause P1', bottom says 'Pause'.
Top picture has a darker, less visible radar.
Different player bars.
Top picture has no crowd.
etc etc.

There are a bunch of easily visible differences between the pictures.

Personally, I think the bottom picture is at a more advanced stage than the top.

.. or maybe the top picture is just the xbox version. :D

I think that's just a logo as the pics came from a playstation mag. Just like the bottom picture says CVG.

no mate look closely near the player name bars not the coloured logo ... they r like invisible

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

Yeah, the differences are too many to be of the exact same "game". Some designs are very different and such. These are things that will most likely be the same for most next-gen versions, since the graphical designers will most likely look to give the games some unity and collective looks. Obviously some options on the menu etc could differ, but to me the version that will have the most "ought" to be the PC version, where you would have separate menus for screen resolution, color depth etc.

Oh right, yeah. Someone brought that up on the last page. Not sure what it means. :D

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

Why the hell would there be shaded out PS controls next to the name bar :S

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

To me the top pic looks like a later build, the menu options are refined and there is actually a Camera Type setting, the explanation for the missing crowd could be that the 360 engine was used as a starting point and that the crowd are undergoing an overhall, the resolution on the players look much better also.

Also its the Addition of the P1 to the pause menu that makes me think this the most, i mean why on earth would they remove it?

Lol i just noticed how much the menus look like the one i faked up a few weeks back, konami might be spying on me! :(

I agree, top one is definitely the later version. Graphics look better, but still so "injection moulded".

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

I definetely think the bottom picture is at a later stage.

The radar is more visible and the pause menu isn't touching the player bars - they are the main reasons.

Beatts, maybe in system settings you can change the camera angle.. or is that completely wrong? :D

It's quite a shame that your menu still looks nicer.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

i say it's the top one that's more recent!! even though there are no crowds, but the more indepth menu choices and the P1 is the main reason why i believe that the top picture is more recent!! (sadly)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

i also think it's the top one.

No mate i don't think so, when has camera angle been a system setting, its more of a game setting.

think of the plus points though, they must be making some pretty big changes graphicaly, thats only a good thing :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

There may only be 10 blue players on the second picture - looking at the radar and picture together. May be another blue dot hidden under a red dot if two players are really close together, but maybe that's the reason for the gap.

But then maybe team vision should compensate for a missing player this? More questions than answers as usual!

You're new here, aren't you? :lmao:

Judging on what we've seen so far, they should have named the new AI "BlurredVision".

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

PS3 special stadium edit mode ? wtf is that about?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

Maybe the crowd could be missing on the PS3 version because they couldn't get it to run smoothly with it there (Jack's "contact" said it was juddery whenever they got near the box).

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

Frankly, they both look like they could be from PES6.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

I noticed something that might be fairly big or incredibly small.
In the second picture the PIP of the manager and subs in the dugout is much more detailed than the top screenshot. In the top screenshot they look like cardboard cutouts. The bottom screenshot they are proper 3d models. Also like mentioned before the crowd are in the second picture. What do you guys think? Might be a later build or possibly a specific version. E.g. PS3 or 360?

:)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

The top picture has better visuals by far, compared with the bottom one. Even in the PIP...
