Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/03/07)

Great to see the pub feature finally in the game. That's what real footy fans want.

Hopefully, there will be a hairdressers too, so the team can go and get their hair cut, or better still, buy some new head adornments, such as sharks.

There's also surely a good chance that the grocers shop will make it's debut appearance in PES2008, so the manager can go and buy some turnip footballs.

And with amazing new gameplay features like TeamVision, which is basically designed to stop you playing, thus making the game even more frustrating, graphics which look identical to PES6 on PS2 and no news whatsoever about changes to the ML structure, PES2008 sounds like it's the game we've all been waiting for....and have already been playing for the past 4 years.

are u on drugs?!

You can criticize the game concerning the graphical aspect ,that is fine by me.You just cannot do it in terms of gameplay just wait, buy it and play it to have your own review of it. Despite everyone telling me how a game is great or crap ,i just wait for it ,play it and then make my own judgments.People are quick to slaughter this "teamvision" whereas no one knows how it properly works.Untill I play the game myself I'll hold my judgements

Look at the purple ball they are playing with in every screenshot on the pitch. What manufacture is it?
What kind of a football is that? I've never seen a ball like that before.
Here it is, hehehe Di Stefano's Favorite!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/03/07)

Adonis, I really appreciate everything you and the other lads at WENB do, it's utterly amazing and I admire your commitment. However, besides all of the speculation and hear-say I find that the PES community is left with nothing but an empty barrel called PES 2008. Konami have been promising groundbraking stuff to us ever since PES 4 (which was the least in the series, qualitywise)
Yet they have fulfilled very little promises en the proEVOLUTION series just dont "evolve" anymore. PES2008 was the sole reason for buying a PS3, and now I have to conclude that I have bought one for PS2 graphics???
I understand that these are pre beta shots and taking that into consideration, they still look so flat, so boring, so current gen.
I was not sucked in by the hype, but just hoped for a fairly spectacular next gen blockbuster. I'm dissapointed and hoping for the best, but the little faith that I had in Konami is gone now too.
Thx for everything Thomas, once again, but KONAMI has let me ( and a lot of other fans) down. Bigtime.

Cheers and the best of luck

Thanks.

I understand your dissapointment, but you have shown your cards too soon. You've not waited for the game to be shown in video form yet.

Many of us have forgotten why we fell in love with the game in the first place. Gameplay. I know the graphics dont look great right now, but Im sure when you hold the controller in your hand and see the game with your own eyes everything will fall into place :)

I'm entitled to make comment. I could be completely wrong and the game will be a revelation.

But everything I've seen and read about PES2008 so far has been so uninspiring it's depressing. The only new feature of any significance is TeamVision. The rest is cosmetic piffle.

And why do I have my doubts about TeamVision? Because the descriptions thus far have been about how the cpu will stop you play. Not about how your team will now play with much more intelligence, just about how the cpu will stop you.

The biggest gripe that people have had with PES in recent years, and it's gotten to the point where many people are now quite openly disparaging about the gameplay, is the way the AI model relies on horribly crude scripts and cpu cheats to try and make the game harder.

The cheats are so blatant and affect every aspect of the gameplay, from all cpu players being given stat boosts so they are all super-human, can chase you around in packs of 3 for the entire match without ever tiring, the laws of physics are scripted agaisnt you, the referees are scripted against you, your own players do not respond to your input on the controller and your AI team mates invariably do exactly the opposite of what a real-life counterpart would do....there's nothing left for them to manipulate in terms of trying to make the game harder short of making the goals shrink and expand depending upon which way you're shooting. Oh, and they haven't yet introduced wind so a convenient gust will blow in an o.g. against you or score a nice goal for the cpu out of nothing.

So when they say they've got more ways to stop you play and have given it the name TeamVision, experience tells me they've got enhanced bullshit lined up for us.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/03/07)

I am a bit surprised by the unfounded critics by some people on a game they did not see.
I have trust in Adonis and Suffdaddy's judgement and the carefull way they protect their contacts. If Adonis tells us that all of this is early build and he adds that he is not able to tell more.... Just think about this. One has to do with the other comment!
For me it's enough info and I am sure there's lots to come in the upcoming weeks.
Just trust our podcasters :)

Well, that is your (good) point. I don't know what is your level of gameplay in WE/PES, but, in ML, at the 3rd season the game become so easy... Of course there is a lot of cheat of CPU, and all you said is true. However, even so, the game is easy, even in the last level of difficulty. You learn all the set pieces, all the estrategy and the possibilitys of CPU. That turns the game so easy and boring.

Whith the Teamvision, I THINK, this will end. And i hope the A.I. of our players will be improved too. Let's wait for the game. There is no reason to criticize this aspect of the game right now. Let's wait.

Like PSM3 hinted at, they are more excited about the things Konami HAVENT shown us yet. Everyone is really writing them off far too soon.

Just popped on to say two things.

First thing, I've been a friend of Adonis almost since the day I joined, I fully support him with WENB and I really, really hope he doesn't let the dickheads get him down. It's a rewarding job when you have news to report but it's a horrible job when you devote all of your spare time to it and you get people saying "you're just saying you have contacts to be cool". Some people are just stupidly, pathetically ungrateful - talk about shooting the bloody messenger. Adonis, Suffdaddy, seriously - I hope you guys don't let the morons get you down.

Second thing, I'm going to be seeing an old friend who works in the games industry sometime this week. I'll try and squeeze some info out of him - I don't know if it will lead to anything but I love this community and I love this site, like Adonis does, and so he does what he can and I (although on a much smaller scale due to a lack of contacts) will do what I can as well.

Thanks for the messege mate, really kind of you.

Yeh dont worry about these morons getting us down. I remember when certain people have left in a huff because they dont 'feel appreciated'. Ive always thought less of them for that as it seems so dramatic. Nope me and Suff know we are well supported, WENB is what it is today thanks to the fans support.

Regarding meeting your mates I really appreciate it mate, we all do. Any sort of info would be vital right now, especially with the run up to E3.

Thanks again mate.

All right then ,I understand you being caution about the game and to be fair I'm too.Maybe I didn't get what you wrote but you already seem so sure that this teamvision will be a failure .The idea is not so bad and i can't make any judgements now.I do understand you as I'm sure you want pes2008 to be a success ;)
