Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Fair comments dude, but im not saying that. I said in a previous post a page or so back that what should be important and the BIG thing is gameplay, player + ball physics etc etc, and that I agree graphics ARE important and have to be EXCELLENT, BUT NOT hyper photo realistic if that means it is at the expense of smooth animations, a stutter bug etc, just so that replays look "wank-o-vision" good.
Of course, I want great graphics as I said earlier, it has to give excellent gameplay but also a fully immersive visual and auditory feast. But when you play the game 98% of the time on wide camera mode what does the granualar detail matter? We have seen that this kind of minutaue always come at a cost on the overal game performance (ps2 stutter bug = ps3 stutter bug), so the graphics need to be excellent but not hyper realistic if the system cannot handle it. The ps3 and X360 as I said before are very powerful systems, but not limitless, and as we have seen by no means the best when you look at what Crysis is doing with DX10.

Anyways, going back to my criticism of the guy who thought weather changes was the BIG secret to come in PES 2008, I still stand by my view that: firstly weather changes already exist in PES6 so is not that special a revelation, and that even if enhanced for PES 2008, then it is a stupid addition as it will have no real value to the game, other than eat up vaulable systems resources that could be used for higher levels of AI etc.

For those that argue that weather is a big part of real life football, yes I agree league matches are played through the seasons, rain and shine, but it should maybe in PES2008 and simply be a superficial visual effect (like pes6), but I would rather Seabass and co focus on polishing the gameply to the nth degree rather than waste time adding mud effects, divots, etc. That can wait until we have Ps4 when we have inifinite Teraflop processing grunt.;)

Well, that I am behind 100%. Graphics should not come at the expense of smooth framerates and such. Never!

Ohh well, we'll just have to endure the wait for PES2008, and then take it from there I suppose. ;)

i'll resize it

Thanks alot mate, that looks interesting. As for untucking the shirt, it might not happen every time. But it is going to be interesting to see that in motion to see how they've done it, actual cloth physics or more like a fabric animation.

Well either way, pulling shirts will be tonnes of fun. I know it's not legal in football, but what are freekicks for. :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

this screenshots affraid me, defense seems static and in real life ,players are NEVER in this configuration.

Hopefully, the grass seems better than before.Anyone have scan with better quality??

and the grass on the left foot of Robinho

Awesome..didnt even notice the plastic walls... im liking the look of some of these new features. Best of all, the players are very human like in their proportions, unlike you know what (hint : monkey men with ultra short legs and super huge shorts) ;)

Cheers Trance. Guess I needed to make myself clearer on my posts! Of course we all want hyper reality but lets be realistic, the ps3 and 360 are not some sort of all powerful graphical rendering farms. They are good, but not THAT good! Thus if something has to give slightly which invariably it always does in development plans, then I would prefer they left out mud, wind, raindrops. So lets all join hands and pray for the most playable, best looking footy game to date when pES 2008 comes out.

Yeah, there is something green in front of his foot. At first I just figured it was grass covering his foot. But there might be particles etc coming off the pitch, who knows.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

oh well never mind it could be from the scanner.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

The article in OPM contains some information that I wasn't aware of:

"Our favourite improvements are two small things that we've been requesting for years. The first is the ability to choose which players attack and defend set pieces. Playing as Man Utd and want both Vidic and Rio up to attack corners? Now you can. You can also designate how many players (and which ones) stand in the wall on free kicks, ending the days where you'd watch helplessly as Andrea Pirlo curled a humdinger over the heads of your two midget wingers and nippy-but-tiny front man"
