jeez, you can tell the wait is killing me.:eh:

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

on another note. just dl and installed the time trial update for motorstorm. As well as adding the new mode, it also changes the menus etc.
Seems like this could be a possible method for "patching" PES 2008, if someone could hack into the update codes.

A Dutch gaming websites claims that they have info on the Seabass interview with PSM3.

The divisions
• Premiership
• Football League Championship
• Primear Division (Spanje)
• Serie A (Italië)
• Ligue 1 (Frankrijk)
• Bundelsliga (Duitsland)
• Eredivisie (Nederland)
• BWINLIGA (Portugal)
• Turkcell Super League (Turkije)
• Scottish Premier League (Schotland)
• SuperLeague (Griekenland)
• Russian Premier League (Rusland)
• Israel League (Israël

Because of the FIFPRO deal there are so many license leagues

Besides the license Konami also have an contract with NIKE and ADIDAS.

There will be an new onlinemode option for 2 vs. 2, where one player is the goalkeeper and the other the team.

Do you also want to feel the crunch of a souness stamp on the back of the knee? Now that would make you feel you're in the game...;)

Hehe. Well, so far I know what it feels like to have a torn meniscus immobilizing the knee joint for a week. I'll pass if you don't mind... :)

Huh?? what the hell are you talking about.

Limits - they have always existed in game development. All systems have FINITE power for AI, game mechanics, grpahics, sound etc. Games development is not some sort of Willy wonka machine where you wish for it and it comes true!!!!:lmao:

The secret to the best devs, are they know the limits but push the machines to the very limits, by optimising code to distill the gameplay to the very best it can be, and not putting in crap features like rain droplet and mud physics when it is does not enhance the gameplay. These kind of things are just eye candy to make up for the fact that the game is pretty ordinary - exmaple - F1 for Ps3, motorstorm, Pirates of caribbean.

Dude, I think you are taking it to the extreme. Noone wants rain droplet physics or such. ;)

People just focus on different things. Some only care about the gameplay, some might play the game on a 10 year old TV and don't care about the finer details of graphics, some might be playing it on HDTVs and they want to be blown away.

But for yourself for example, and just because I am curious to find out more about your point of view, how far back would you like to go. If KONAMI says they can squeeze another % of performance from the game, but they would need to remove the textures from the stadiums, reducing them go gray structures devoid of any detail. Is it really worth it for you? I'm sure even you have a "line" where you would say "these graphics need improving". And even if your limit is quite modest, then why can't you understand someone who might be more visually absorbed by their games.

Occasionally I'll start the training mode in PES5 and just strike Freekicks for 2 hours. Because it is relaxing and fun. But if you removed all textures and reduced the game to the wireframes, I would get bored out of my mind in minutes. There is so much more, for me, to the game than just the gameplay.

The gameplay has priority 1, if the gameplay isn't there, then the graphicas doesn't matter. But if the gameplay is there, then the graphics and peripheral details will greatly enhance the realism and attraction of the game.

Just look at the sheer size of the edit forums. I'm sure quite alot of users would agree, the visuals greatly enhance the game, and are no small part of the experience of playing a football simulation.

Anyways, just my views. I understand you feel completely different, but I feel you should atleast stop criticizing others for their views. No, rain droplets, mud, and cloth physics don't enhance the gameplay. But if you removed all graphics and textures and left a bare-naked wireframe, that would certainly take away a great deal of attraction from the game. Therefor, the graphics do enhance the gaming experience. :)

Fair comments dude, but im not saying that. I said in a previous post a page or so back that what should be important and the BIG thing is gameplay, player + ball physics etc etc, and that I agree graphics ARE important and have to be EXCELLENT, BUT NOT hyper photo realistic if that means it is at the expense of smooth animations, a stutter bug etc, just so that replays look "wank-o-vision" good.
Of course, I want great graphics as I said earlier, it has to give excellent gameplay but also a fully immersive visual and auditory feast. But when you play the game 98% of the time on wide camera mode what does the granualar detail matter? We have seen that this kind of minutaue always come at a cost on the overal game performance (ps2 stutter bug = ps3 stutter bug), so the graphics need to be excellent but not hyper realistic if the system cannot handle it. The ps3 and X360 as I said before are very powerful systems, but not limitless, and as we have seen by no means the best when you look at what Crysis is doing with DX10.

Anyways, going back to my criticism of the guy who thought weather changes was the BIG secret to come in PES 2008, I still stand by my view that: firstly weather changes already exist in PES6 so is not that special a revelation, and that even if enhanced for PES 2008, then it is a stupid addition as it will have no real value to the game, other than eat up vaulable systems resources that could be used for higher levels of AI etc.

For those that argue that weather is a big part of real life football, yes I agree league matches are played through the seasons, rain and shine, but it should maybe in PES2008 and simply be a superficial visual effect (like pes6), but I would rather Seabass and co focus on polishing the gameply to the nth degree rather than waste time adding mud effects, divots, etc. That can wait until we have Ps4 when we have inifinite Teraflop processing grunt.;)
