Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

What was the "surprise"? I'm intrigued about that!

Online ML?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

that lost its magic touch over the years. How wrong I was. This was a sheer revelation to me, the flow, the pace, the ooh's, the ooh's and sheer excitement and sweaty palms. This was how PES is meant to be."
He also said that the AI is way better, providing more and more realistic battles between players. CPU cheating was almost non-existent.
If you guys have some more questions, pass them on because I'll email him 2morrw or teday after. Cheers lads

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

@JB: He wouldn't give anything away about the surprise, he said that it was a nice one and prove that Konami really put in effort.
I'm as curious as you, man.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

How are the animations freMM?

And soccer goals/nets..do they animate properly, are the bricks still anchoring the nets down?

Peace!

DAMN IT, force it out of him!! :freak:

Can't he even drop a hint?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

No, but it's something he's excited about aswell so it must be something "big".

To all you guys my sincere apologies for my crappy English. It's not up to par, but I'm working on it :d

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

We will all know it sooner or later might aswell spill the beans. ;)

Better watch out for Seabass Assassins if you do mind. :D

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

Thanks for all of this freMM, it's much appreciated. Your English is great by the way, I had no idea English wasn't your first language! So don't worry about it.

Damn, this "surprise" is intriguing me though... I wish there was some way of finding out what it was.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

LOL, I hope Gerd reads that!

Try bombarding him with a list of things, "is it online Master League, can you now create teams instead of overwrite them" etc...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

I'm sorry but I just don't buy this at all. The guy has supposedly told him everything about the game down to the fact there is no "long tape" but there is a major new feature which he won't mention? Also why would he mention the fact there was no "long tape" which is something utterly random and only a few obsessive weirdos would be interested in knowing about at this stage.

That is the biggest load of bollocks I've ever seen. Seriously it's hilarious. Unless your mate talks like a book and you have fantastic memory it's the most farcical thing I've ever read, I just can't believe everyone here is taking this word as gospel truth.

It might be true, but I for one remain very sceptical about this. It all seems too good to be true and every question that is posed has been answered more or less which suggests he's probably making up the "comments" on the fly.

Another thing that baffles me is why he's answered a question about "long tape" but ignored the major point of concern on many peoples minds about the control over passing and whether the resolution has been improved to allow more precise control. The thing about stadium editor (this is the absolute first we've heard of it - it surprises me all these magazines etc. have neglected to mention it but this guy has). He is willing therefore to tell you about something massive like a stadium editor (which is clearly under wraps if it's not finished and not announced by anyone else) but won't even give you a clue about this massive secret.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

Oh yes, before I forget....Don't shoot me
FOAM BLOCKS WERE STILL PRESENT

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

ieatfanboysetc, what he says is pretty close to what my contact says (especially the stuff about the animation and the "flow" of the game, and I was told there was a massive editing suite, which could well include a stadia editor), so I'd be inclined to believe it; although I've been wrong before...

I talked about flow of the game and pace didn't I? If the game flows better it means the passing has improved hasn't it?
Also the reasn he was checking out the tape is because he is a huge Del Piero fan and it bothered him to see DP without the longer tape.
If you don't believe me that's fine, I can understand were you're coming from but please don't go so far as disrespecting me, calling me a liar and saying everything I say is "bollocks"

Respect

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

foam blocks?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

Yeah the big white blocks in the back of the net.

Just say it in Dutch. After all there is only one thing important and that is that I understand you ;)
About new questions: Maybe just ask him about on-line. Does it offer 2 vs 2 or even more players?
One important question: Does he feel the gamestick works with 360 degrees direction? That one question is one all of us want to know.
Another popular item: Is the referee okay or did they include mistakes from the referee? Think about off side...

I am happy that my 'theory' was right about de removal of scripting in favor of TeamVision. Because the computer offers better play because of this I am sure :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

True Jack it does all tie in, it almost ties in TOO perfectly. Anyone could read through this thread and based on everything that has been said come up with a load of fanciful comments about a beta version of the game which sounds fantastic and gets everyone's hopes up. I'm just sticking to the "I'll believe it when I see it" ideology.

It just seems weird that he is providing all this detail about foam blocks and long tape but in terms of gameplay all he's provided is some prose style spiel about flow etc. I mean what does that actually mean? Anyone who is supposedly a "PES nut" would be able to, in a couple of sentences, summarise what subtle differences had been incorporated to improve the so called flow. On the other hand he's put his neck out on the line with the stadium editor, if that's not in there then it will be obvious he was lying so that stands in his favour and he has been registered since 2005. I guess I'd just like to hear something more tangible with regards to the game play and feel rather than some PR sounding material.

I talked about flow of the game and pace didn't I? If the game flows better it means the passing has improved hasn't it?

That is what I mean, these are very vague comments relative to the detail you have gone into in other areas. Obviously it's harder to describe how gameplay has changed because it's more perceptive but if the passing has improved, how has it improved? As it is the main thing you actually do in a football match I'd be more eager, If I had the chance to talk to someone who had played the game, to find out about that than things like long tape and foam blocks.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

@TG: First language is Dutch, mais je parle aussi un peu de Francais.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

Big surprise, surprise we can handle but BIG?

Never really had a PES with a BIG surprise have we? I cant remember, kinda makes you want to come back every 15 mins to see whats going on lol.

Hopefully we can edit these breeze blocks and have the strip net holder, the one that is like a line, around, and net attackes to it, rather than big plastic blocks, these are more used :D Sounds excellent, this hopefully means we can get fully licensed made up teams, finally Saints will be basically officially in the game woooo! :D

ThomasGoal, or TG lol, cant you give us a hint if you know? Say, like is it, League Changes, Menu Changes, Gameplay Changes, Editing Changes, Online Changes or Team Changes? something like that, what does it involve out of those, which would it come under???
