Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Ok so I knew this last year, and so far the information regarding PES2008 has reiterated the point....Konami have lost the plot.

Puskas looks amazing in those screenshots don't you think breakfast????

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

That PS2 version surely will suck. Terrible idea that World Tour option.

I hope that PS3 version will be a lot different, but this is jutst a hope more than reality. Anyway, we need to wait... oh well...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Is anyone actually considering not buying it out of protest or is it safe to say that even if the master league is the same (virtually) and the graphics are the same as beta everyone here is still going to buy it? Even if we get more reports of it playing virtually the same as pes6

For the record im pre-ordering as soon as i can

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

How many versions do you think we have seen so far? because in terms of discrepancies ive seen at the very least 3 different net types, resolutions and menus. I mean konami's marketing is all over the place.

The nets in the training pic suggest a later build yet it was released before the images we have been recieving of late which have poor quality nets.

Damn im confused..

...Training pic possibly for the ps3 sku?

In response to fatality's question;

I think it depends how good fifa is this year. I passed on the pes6 360 version till xmas when it got a bit cheaper. Played it for a couple of months and havent touched it since. Im mostly a singleplayer so the ML really gets on my tits after 5? years of the same ol shit. I really dont want to play it for another year, but if fifa doesnt come up with good enough gameplay there isnt much else to play is there? Either way im growing frustrated with pes' lack of development across the board. FIFA is atleast showing attempts to be the best game, but its still somewhat lacking in the gameplay department (even moreso as im a d-pad only player).

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Fifa is showing attempts, that is true, but that is all: ATTEMPTS, the game still sucks big time, and that is a pity because there is no competition here. One is a very good game with the mistakes we know (PES) and the other is an horrible one (FIFA).

Anyway I will buy PS3 + PES2008. If the gameplay is still good and with better graphics I am pretty sure that I will enjoy it. But it will also leave me with a desillusion since it can be a far better game.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

I may for the first time in many MANY generations of fifa, have to try the new version, some of the skills ive seen you can do youtube make me want to play 07 (if not for friends telling me its a bit kack)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

I've never liked the PSM3 magazine but I've have bought it in the past because of ISS reviews etc, but when you say there will be a video and then don't deliver thats the last straw for me.

At least you could have said "subject to change" like OPM do.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

yeah i agree. the nets look amazing in that picture

I did notice that, it's bizarre because they look totally different? The netting actually looks life like and the posts are a realistic colour - I can't understand why the nets have been red and white in every single screen except that one? Are we sure that is an in game shot and not CGI? Maybe it is a cut-scene for training. Either that or this screen is taken from a much newer version where the nets have been re-modelled. It's mystifying but all the latest screens have looked abysmal in terms of nets.

How can there be such a difference? It highlights how little we actually know, I mean those two screens appear to be entirely different games. If the final version looked like the bottom screen I'd say that was impressive, the top screen however looks archaic graphically in my view. Like really bad, I'd be pissed off if they released that for the PS2.

This was the magazine that promised us a video this month, right?
Promises, empty promises

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

different stadiums different nets...

I type all that and that is the best you can contribute? Flippin' hec. You've not even answered the question. Even if there were different nets for different stadiums does that explain the gulf in graphical quality between the two screens? If the good one is a console shot and the bad one is a pc shot, could it be they were taken on an underpowered PC? Who knows...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Ronaldo has a finger stuck to the side of his head but not in the PES photo, and a black chin?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Talking about the masterleague.
The scary thing is that it hasnt been confirmed that the pub scenes etc are even linked to the masterleague either its just speculation so we might not even have those improvements (if you can call it an improvement).

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

I think the pub-scène and the espinas-interview either belong to an improved Master-league or that fantasia-mode.

Either way, we get something new ;)

True mate, I reckon master league if i had to say one, it might be like in Footymanager where your PR decision effects team morale etc.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

The Master League scares me. Neglecting major aspects in the game is pretty bad as it is but it also sends out bad signals to the previous buyers of the games.

We can only hope for a miracle when it comes to a brand new Next gen ML, but i highly doubt that will happen.

Looking out for a Next gen preview before i start cutting my wrists :D

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Am i the only one who think that those faces look like plastic and they actually got worse????

So far nothing interesting for me. Just the disappointment of "faster gameplay". I never really got into pinballpes6.

Funnily enough, the thought did cross my mind today. Not out of protest (it's not as if a few missing sales are going to be noticed by Konami) but simply because the game isn't sounding particularly interesting, and worse still, the fear that it might play almost exactly like PES6.

It was the list of new features I read today, like missions and similarly risible stuff, that genuinely makes me wonder if Seabass is basically past it, has run out of ideas and is too scared to try anything radical. It makes me wonder if the game really is going anywhere and if Seabass is capable of taking it anywhere.

But I've decided that curiousity will ensure that I buy it this year, along with FIFA. I simply need to play them and establish for for myself how they feel to play on next-gen.

I think it will be next year, if PES2008 turns out to be grim and PES2009 is sounding like it's the usual intangible tweaks with the same boring ML, there's every chance I'll be giving it a miss, particularly if FIFA has raised itself sufficiently to meet my footy gaming needs.

What's up with the graphics - one moment they look really quite impressive - the next (the latest batch especially) look piss poor! The latest lot don't look any better than PES6.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Do you think then that Pes has become "comfortable" the most horrid word for a game that has limitless iterations, they reached a point where people will buy no matter what, basically what fifa has been. Fifa only really started taking itself seriously apparently because there was competition, this is the first year for many a year ive heard people say "Its going to be close between evo and fifa this year". Perhaps another football game by another company needs to come along and scare them both!

Are there any other companies with a track record or even capability to develope a third football franchise?

Yeah but at least they managed one screenshot without Cronaldo. I will barf if I see one more screen with his mug in it.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

The crowd in these pics look worse than the crowd on the 360 version of PES6, maybe a way to combat slowdown?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

slowdowns with that graphics? they just dont care. but hey come on! we have missions now! isnt that great

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

With every new PES, I really feel angry at EA for making such a terrible gameplay for FIFA.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

They are Canadians, what do you expect. I guarantee whilst that development team is in charge of FIFA it will never even be playable.
