Lille is very good and I'm glad they've made it through the last 16. At the end of the day, I do think they're a stronger team than AEK and Anderlecht (though not by a large margin) and are more likely to upset the big guns with the players they have at their disposal like Makoun, Kader Keita, Bodmer, Odemwingie, Tafforreau and young promising talented players like Debuchy and Cabaye just to name a few.
But while they're good, Claude Puel is great and a huge reason for where this football club is today. No doubt about it. 8)
He deserves and has regained his spot on my avatar.
does anybody knows why he acted like that??
Because the fans were whisteling at him when he was subbed off. Pretty stupid action by him, cant see the fans liking him anymore after that.
Can Celtic ever get a win or a point away from home, Im looking forward to the draw for the next round.
Deserved that, I'd sack him if I was in charge. That was very immature :shock:HSV gave Atouba a 2 match ban for his behaviour btw.
So am I, I wouldn't expect Celtic to be favourites to beat anyone in the draw, never mind the 1st seeds. If you asked me if there are any we can beat, I'd say no, but if you ask me for the least impressive teams from the group leaders I'd say Liverpool, Arsenal and AC Milan.
Tbh, although I was disappointed with last night's performance, I know we can do a lot better than that and with the players missing from last night we should do better, but I'm glad we aren't drawing a Villareal like Rangers, I smiled when I saw the teams in Pot 1 as they're absolute top drawer teams with huge pedigrees and any one of them will be a pleasure to see them playing against Celtic as opposed to getting put out by a smaller team, the money spin-off from one of these giants should give Celtic even more revenue.

p.s. Just to point out, we actually did get a point, of all places Nou Camp, Barca can't beat us there............hehe.

Lille are in the same post as us mate.
What I meant by the revenue is that the teams left their are absolute top drawer teams and especially if we draw an English team, then I'm sure there'll be additional revenue available for a clash of britain.

Thanks for sharing the story. This is only true to some extent.
Please let me give you a little insight about the whole 'supporters against T. Atouba situation' that has build up in the past months and weeks. Last season he was the fans favourite. Then, in summer in the offseason he requested more money and did not want to play for the club anymore and was considering to leave the club which of course the fans were not very amused with. With this typical mercenary behaviour he already lost popularity. Then he had and has this mysterious injury for a very long time now where no doctor can heal him. Some fans even imputed that he is simulating his injury because the club did not give him the bigger wages he had requested. However, in the end he did eventually play again because of the massive amount of injured players in the team - especially for his position, left side back, are not that many players available. So he played although he still has his injury and that was noticeable in his performances as they have been very poor. But T. Doll, the coach, still let him play instead of letting him rest. In my opinion he should have let someone else play for him who might not be at his ideal position but is 100% fit. And so it came that in the Hamburger SV - FC Porto match after a real crap game from T. Atouba the fans the first time booed and whistled at him. He was subbed and after that he said that he could not understand why the fans were doing that, especially only at him. Then in the CSKA Moskva game, he did not play good either to say it mildly. He caused the penalty and did not look good at the second goal as well. After that, the fans started booing and whistling at him again. Right after that he gave a sign towards the bench that he wants to get off the pitch. After the fans had seen him requesting his substitution, they were doing it even harder. But notice that only he, not the whole team or other players, was being booed. Apparently, after being subbed and walking to the bench, fans also started showing the middle finger to him and even doing racist taunts. It is no surprise how he responded to that. Hell, he was even thrown full cups of beer at.
So, the way I see it, he was damn right to act like that! Yes, he did play bad this season and it might have even looked as if he was not trying his best but you cannot be really sure whether it was on purpose or due to his injury. I was also angry seeing how he plays and did not want to see him play until he has recovered from his injurey but I would not boo or whistle at him. Imagine you are being booed in your own stadium from your own fans. Not the whole team but only you. That must hurt and that alone is a shame already but the racist taunts and flying beers from the VIP area are a disgrace, disgusting and must be punished!
T. Atouba already apologised for his behaviour and got his fine in being suspended for the next two games plus paying €50.000. But I feel that also the fans should apologise for their behaviour and that the racist get lifetime ban from stadia.
We'd have been better with PT than Wilson then other night, Gronkjaer gave him a helluva time of it.
Telfer was unlucky to get dropped to be fair to him, I ain't his biggest fan, but since that appearance at OT, he's been solid.
So, the way I see it, he was damn right to act like that!
