The TV Show Thread

Yep, deadwood is gold. If they hadn't canceled it now we would have a goldmine. But the 3 seasons are absolutely brilliant, from start to finish. And what about thar rat Farnum (the hotel owner) or the newspaper editor? All of them amazing characters.

Dags, you have to watch it, no discussion here!

Minor minor spoiler about a cast thing:
The only strange thing in Deadwood is the fact that the same actor did 2 different characters. They loved him so much they had to put it there again after his first character didn't show anymore. I found it really odd, but now I'm so fond of that actor that I enjoy his both performances.

Got the first season so will work through it at some point.

Onto different shows, Entourage and Breaking Bad have carried on being as superb as they always were. Hugely enjoying both shows again.

Yeah loads of great characters. Love the doc, he's brilliant.

Yep, I'm very please with Entourage. Season 7 was not good but this finale season should be good.

Im enjoying it, but, after 7 seasons they dont try anything different, and seem to be stealing stuff from californication.....

but it's still quality, think i read its finishing with a full length film.

It may have been mentioned in the thread already but first season of Made in America was good, season 2 set to start, think it's being set up to take over from entourage...

Not sure what it is about these Westerns but I seem to be awful at understanding accents in them but I'm fine with every other show. First "True Grit", and halfway through "Deadwood" S01E01 and I'm picking up every fifth word or something. Not fun.

How to Make it in America? It should be starting again in September.

The Borgias is a good series, got a couple more episodes to watch but really enjoyed it so far.

Not sure how faithful it is to the facts, but the premise alone is pretty ill, one of the most remarkable and legendary families in history.

Basically a crime family running the Vatican.

Guys, thanks for telling me to watch Deadwood, this is the one that has me wavering on toppling Sopranos.

Only thing that might work against it is that Sopranos has went on that bit longer so that might just give it the nod, but Deadwood is just so bloody amazing.

The characters are absolute brilliant, and no matter what one it is, you love them all. Mind you Al Swearegen is probably my fav tv character of all time, Ian McShane is glorious in it. And Timothy Olyphant is brilliant, I just love that angry face he pulls off. Just watched teh one with him in the room with Hearst and the comment about if he needed a tissue, LOL.

I'm feckin dreading this season finished and knowing there's no more of it. :(

Just finished Mad Men S1...

How the hell does Peggy suddenly have pains, no swelling, then suddenly the baby pops out?! After the show being so well written, that felt like a complete cop-out to me.

Throughout the season you slowly notice her getting fatter and stuff, so I thought it sort of made sense.

Oh wait! ...

Didn't they keep making remarks about her being chubby and putting weight on, then getting her to try that Relaxifier (or whatever) ... now it makes sense!

Deadwood now finished, totally amazing.

Although really sad that they never took up more episodes.

See they looked at a couple of mini-movies but never did. Although with it being based on real people, there was a loose history to see for each character.

Basically yeah. Its from the same producers - very very similar in style and much like Entourage, its got a great cast of characters that play off each other extremely well.

On a side note, has anyone been watching Happy Endings? I'm about halway through season 1 so far and I love it!

Sounds good, will pick thatr up when Entourage is done :(

Not heard of Happy Endings either. I thought I was pretty good on US shows, I think I'm actually still a bit behind

We've just watched Happy Endings episode 1 and both thought it was really good, will definitely watch the rest. Even if was crap, I'd have watched just for Elisha Cuthbert.

Really? Are they doing a full season for Happy Endings? Does get funnier and funnier as the season goes along, mostly because you start recognising the in-jokes.

Another like HE is Friends with Benefits. Not as good, but still funny.
