The TV Show Thread

Wasn't it cancelled?

I've just watched Curb Your Enthusiasm S01E01, so funny :LMAO: Going to keep watching this I think :)

Southland was picked up by TNT. They started S1 2 weeks ago, so I imagine the 6 episodes of season 2 will air just after, on March 2nd.

Thanks for the info on Southland guys. But I think after the few new episodes the show is done, even if the ratings are good, the actors are not on hold for this are they?

I'm catching it up too and loving it, current on season 03 and it keeps getting better.
I'm even a bit like Larry lately, every little thing turning into a problem for me.

You've NEVER watched Curb? Wowsers... so funny, absolutely brilliant and rarely wavers from top quality throughout all the seasons.

I think I watched it once a few years ago and it was pretty funny but I never followed up and watched anymore shows. I think it was one of those periods when there was loads to watch anyway so I just forgot about it.

The funny thing is that I can't watch Curb without picking up on the "American" aspect of it all. I keep noticing how everyone seems to talk with surprise in their voice, they say a lot of sentences and then stop before starting the sentence again, they repeat a lot of things they say during conversations, and they seek confirmation a lot  For example:

Man: So I went to this shop this afternoon...
Woman: Really?
Man: Yeah! And guess what?
Woman: What?!
Man: I bought a sweater!
Woman: Really?!
Man: Really!
Woman: You bought a sweater?!
Man: Yeah! Good huh?
Woman: Yeah!

Also how they speak over each other a LOT when having a conversation, usually tends to be someone telling a story or whatever with the other person constantly butting in with comments like "Oh really?" or repeating back what they've just been told with a questionable and surprised tone  Watch an episode and you'll see exactly what I mean :)

I still need to watch the second season of Always Sunny In Philly as well.

Its entertaining, doesn't take itself too seriously. One to watch a few eps of and see if its your kind of thing

I like it too, looks crap in HD though.

Caught up with two 'new' comedies of the season, first Modern Family, it starts off really strong and pretty soon you will love all (maybe most) characters.
Phil is so awesome, some of his references are hilarious 'wtf' will always be 'why the face' to me now, loved the 'drink your milkshake' too.

The other show is Community, no one mention it still, it doesn't start as strong as Modern Family but soon catch up, if doesn't overpass it,
all characters are hilarious too, the legendary Chevy Chase is there, is full of pop references too, inside jokes, and all the stuff a comedy needs. The closing scenes are priceless.

I would recommend both shows.

Dragging this one up a bit! But I know what you mean and if you are referring more to Curb there, then the reason its so much like that, is 90% of it is adlibbed by the actors!

They take a basic storyline and pretty much write the script as they film. So alot of the repeats and surprise is either panic (whilst they think and react) or natural reaction!

Aye, I saw the adlib stuff after writing that post, makes Curb so much better and funnier knowing that it's not pre-written :D

Is it wrong that I kinda think his wife is pretty nice looking?

"Friday Night Lights" season premiere April 30th ... but it's the season that's already been on DirecTV :(

I thought it was S5 start was starting, have to wait until the fall apparantly :(

Spartacus - 102-106

Anyone watching Spartacus? Really is growing into a very enjoyable TV show, last episode was superb with a terrific arena fight :)

This is a really good entertainment.
I was afraid after the pilot that it would be only action but no, it's has a lot more. The way Spartacus rises is very well done (the pit !!!). And there's love affairs, conspiracies, rivalities, the shadow of Death !

John Hannah seemed useless at first but now he is just amazing as Batiatus.

The story always surprises me, nice twists.

8/10

I've added Sky Movies just for The Pacific, looking forward to it.

Any idea why the Pacific is taking so long to come on in the UK? Macedonia and Slovenia to name two are getting it a fortnight before us.

Really enjoyed the last episode of 24 (S08E12), especially the ending :)

Good season so far!
