The Retro-PES Corner

My first choice would have been to integrate Bundesliga, but after searching, I could not find a database with all Bundesliga players data for 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons (incl. growth type, ...). If you have a link to such a database, it'd be amazing.

I looked for the in-game players, players appearing in other games (ex. PES 4, 5 and even later versions) but there are too many missing players (especially from the promoted teams). After some research, I could see that creating the UCL 2007-08 would be feasible though, and then I decided to go that route.

This is why I also released a "zero" version of my WE2008 OF in fact, so that if someone feels he would manage to create Bundesliga, that person would not start from zero but would only have to focus on Bundesliga (or any other league). ;-)
I've got an option file for PES 6 that I've had for quite some time, which includes full Bundesliga. As far as I'm aware it's default stats. I can't actually remember where I got it from though so it would be difficult to give credit to it's author if you were going to use it to create an option file. Drop me a message if you want it and I'll send it to you.

Also there's this website a guy created and posted on evoweb a while back. Again I can't remember who it is but his website lists default stats of many versions of PES. It does include Bundesliga players but it would be a time consuming task to put them in the correct teams. Anyway here's the website which will probably be useful to you and anyone else regardless:

Hi,

@PES4eva , shared with me the PES 6 PESFan Option File which includes Bundesliga.

Does someone still has the PES 2008 PESFan Option File for PS2 created back in the days ?

I'm looking for untouched Bundesliga players data from PESFan.

Also, PES4Eva was not certain.the data he provided me was untouched. So if someone still has the Original OF for PES 6 from PESFan it'd be great.

For PES 2008, the latest version of "Big Boss" OF would be awesome too (I only have v1.5).

Hey, does anyone have PES 2008 PS2 OF by Big Boss (ver 1.5 or ver 2.5)? Searched everywhere on the Internet, but all links to the file are dead.

I have never heard of it but i am extremely interested.

I've V1.5.

I know you asked it about 5 years ago but I've 1.5, was looking for 2.5 and came accros this post.

If we consider the entire WE9,WE9LE,WE9I,JLWE9A,KLWE9A,PES5 series, which version has the best attacking artificial intelligence?
In my personal opinion and other people's opinions may vary but the game I found the most frustrating was J League Winning Eleven 9 Asia Championship. My players got totally harassed by every team I played and their finishing was brutally accurate. So my vote would go for that one.

While browsing the forums, I came across comments that jlwe9ac was liked for his slow play style that approaches realism and his compact midfield appearance. I also read comments that WE9I has an aggressive attacking AI. Of course, everyone will have different opinions. I felt the need to ask such a question because the PES5 CPU could not attack me enough and could not score goals.

As a general statement I think eg: People of Group A will find certain games difficult while people of Group B will find those same games difficult and vice versa.
So for example you may find PES 5 easy but you may struggle with a different version of PES. I think it's just down to the individual person and how they play the game which determines whether or not they find it easy.

I tend to play high attacking levels on these older games leaving some space at the back for the AI to challenge me. Nothing crazy but enough that I'm having to last ditch defend

I also start with the default team in ML and build it up until I'm just about competitive with the AI and only buying players of a similar level in the market further down the line.

The fun in these old games for me isn't about being too tactical but having fun seeing what I can make the game do with its limitations. That's been lost in modern games the ability to make the unexpected happen with limited mechanics

I remember the first time we loaded up PES 4 me and some mates and I scored a David Platt vs Belgium type volley using Ronaldinho. Went over his head and he turned and volleyed it far corner never seen or pulled off a goal like it since. That's the beauty of these classics

Yeah realism is fine but at the end of the day we're playing video games here and the very premise should be fun first and realism second. They could make the most realistic game of football ever created, that doesn't necessarily translate into a fun football game. I think the older PES games got the balance between fun and realism (meaning mechanics not graphics) about right.
I personally don't give a flying frying pan about tactics, I just like having an enjoyable gaming experience and having fun scoring some goals. If I want over the top realism I'll go dust off my old football boots and actually play real football. Although I'd probably be knackered after 10 minutes nowadays 😂
