Against the CPU : PES3>PES4>PES6>PES5
Against a human : PES5>PES3>PES4>PES6
What’s up with your slogan “never give up”?!.
Well that's all folks
This is the End ....
In all my 30 +/- some years of gaming, this "PES" stuff is the worst piece of software BS i have ever played. By far!!! Not because it's bad per se, it has a wonderful shape and all that, but it's deceitful and rotten to it's core. I feel the obsolescence casino-like attributes etc ...and i personaly find it quite funny when people call it "the best football sim" cause frankly to me, it reminds me more at a diabolical "Mario-Kart" game lol.
If people like it that's ok, it's just nothing for me. And sure, you can use the analogy i used above to a lot of other Football games in generall - but certainly not to all. There are some footy games who play fair and square, who are pure fun and don't hook your brain!
Until then.
Hasta luego mis amigos...
And always remember: the universe is friendly to you! :-)
correct, but i would just switch positions of pes 4 and pes 6 against CPU, since i play both a lot.
pes 6 is more difficult even on professional level than pes 4 on four stars against CPU.
I'm sure it's in modern FIFA - if you can't catch someone you hold the "stab tackle" button (that's not what it's called any more) and you reach out to grab them. Sometimes you get away with it and you slow them down enough to catch up and "put them off" (i.e. their resulting pass/cross/shot is poor), but most times you'll commit a foul (usually they stay on their feet and they get the advantage, but occasionally they'll fall over and get a free kick).I began to wonder, firstly if any other football game had a shirt pulling mechanic, either cosmetic or functional; And what if devs were to incorporate it today, how would it work, would it work?
Really interesting the shirt-tug.I was Completely unaware it existed. As for hair physics, i don't want to sound like the old gramps, but the one and only game that nailed it,at least in ponytails moving, was PES 3.You can do a simple check by going in edit player/default game and rotate players head right and left. After pes3 until today player's hair were always like PLAYMOBIL for some reason. You can also see that eye pupils are independent from the rest face when rotating the head.Got some clips for y'all.
First is from Club Football 2005 on PS2, Had a quick go the other night for the first time in years. Funny thing is i had fond memories of this when i played it as a kid with friends as break from PES 4. Sometimes, memories should be left as that, memories.
Second had half an hour to spare so jumped into PES 2013 quickly. Had a fun 2-2 draw between Seville v Real.
The last great PES game to really incorporate player ID and individuality and decent team AI. Only disappointment is the keeper should've come of his line much earlier against Ronaldo for the first goal. This would get much worse come a year later onward thanks to FOX Engine PES.
And thirdly, dipped into every bodies beloved PES 2008. Something i totally forgot about was the shirt pulling animation. It's interesting because despite the actual game never really evolving past PS2 mechanics at the time, they did start exploring cosmetic changes like cloth & hair physics, 3D fans, turf and new goal net physics.

In PES 2008, it's purely cosmetic and is automatic and doesn't actually give your defender any real advantage. But what if we had a button prompt to consciously tug a players shirt to pull them back and slow them down? Time it just right and it gives you a fraction of time to gain an advantage, old it too long and the ref catches you, penalizes and maybe even cards you? I mean, they've reintroduced diving to PES and it's really difficult to time for the human and the AI does it rare enough and even rarer that it actually works. But maybe the devs can't figure out a way of balancing it and they'd rather just leave it as wish list feature.

Thanks Miguel, can't wait to read them this evening. Really enjoyed your entry about nostalgia too. I don't think i could've wrote it any better, but yes Nostalgia isn't just because it's good and reliable media, it's also a time capsule that takes you back in time and allows us to relieve fond memories with the media in question being the vessel.New posts on the Club:

You should have mentioned on the ML odyssey post, that in PES4 the player development for the defaults is a declining curve for EVERY SINGLE PLAYER EXCEPT Macco.New posts on the Club:

Yeah thought about it a few times. Could even do action shots and team photo.Someone should do stickers of the ML defaults. I might step into the job.
That's right. It's annoying because they should have really left player development until PES 5 if they had no intention of retiring the defaults that were old...Perhaps it had something to do with that roster being somewhat the end of an era, as I remember in PES5 some of the default classics had just retired - Celnili, Vornander, Dulic, Barota and the like, I believe.

i don't like the old animations (edit: transitions!!) but the keepers awareness, attention... just lovely! It's Klose vs Larsson, 2 of this tournaments in form strikers lead their nations as Favourites Germany take on Dark Horses Sweden in their first knockout stage fixture, then Ecuador put their clean sheet on the line as they face Red Devils, Belgium.

Titan KAHN!!!
edit: that first Larsson goal looks like an 2019 AI goal (PES way ahead of its time!! funny. NOT!
