I am not sure then, I always buy decent high end motherboards so might be why I got one free with the motherboard.

I think I have about 3 of them and they are all ASUS branded.
 
I complained on MSI Nordic's Facebook page so they replied they'd send me one free! Unfortunately just ordered one with the new PSU but won't hurt to have a spare :)

Social media works incredibly well for this kind of stuff, when you tweet or leave a message on their Facebook wall or whatever everyone can see it so they're far more likely to deal with your question/complaint quickly and helpfully. There's basically no point calling/emailing companies these days the response is a lot slower and generally less helpful.
 
I've been out of the PC building loop a while.

Basically, I have a good 4k TV and wonder if there are any base units or ideally laptops able to buy to handle games in 4k yet?

If not I'll wait another year or so.

Short answer not in the next 3 years will you be able to game on a laptop at 4k with playable frame rates.

Long answer to run games at 4k@60fps you will need a desktop PC with an I7 and 2x980ti's for graphically demanding games.

also 4k@60Hz is not doable on a TV without a having display port or HDMI 2.0 which most TV's don't have, most only do 4k@30hz.

My advice don't bother.

Got my "2x MSI Nvidia GTX 770 Gaming 4GB" installed on the MSI 970A Krait SLI edition motherboard, everything is working but after a few minutes of playing I'm getting a loud internal speaker type sound from the motherboard, which is strange because I wasn't aware it had an internal speaker, I can find no settings in the bios about such an alert, nothing in the manual.

If I run kombustor it actually makes the sound the second kombustor starts which makes no sense at all. You can see in the pic the second I've opened Kombustor it's not reporting high temps or anything so I don't understand what the problem is frown emoticon

Figured it out!

I thought I'd record the sound to add to the post, as I was leaned down with my phone I noticed the UPS was flashing, of course! New higher power supply and SLI = higher power drain, which my old UPS is not rated for, moved my PC plug into a standard socket, tested SLI, no alarm! So now I just need to upgrade my UPS!
 
Not sure if anyone can help on here, looking for some home networking advice. Basically, I have a perfectly good home network, call it netA, around my house, using my ISP settings on their modem with some powerline adapters.

In the living room, the missus is demanding proper Netflix on the Roku, and to do that I have to use some fancier features of a router, so I have a spare router just in that room, hardwired back into netA but also with different DNS/Static Routes for the hardwire into Roku.

The issue is, that router doesn't appear anywhere on my home Network. It gets the internet connection fine from netA, but if I install a NAS or something, I can't see it.

So my question: can you use advanced DNS/Static Routing on an Access Point? Or does it have to be 'dumb' and let the main router deal with that? Thanks for any help!

I would say this is up to you.. Value wise your getting the better deal I would say.
But do you want a laptop? Laptops are pretty much obsolete in this day and age.

Got my PC since last week. Really happy with it so far, amazingly fast and silent :) thanks to all who helped me choosing the components, especially bsmaff.

Btw. just realised when I got it that pcspecialist uses the custom Zotac GTX 980 Ti. Amazing :D expected to get the stock one.

The Dell S2716dg also looks fantastic by using a custom icc colour profile, GSync works very well, too.

I need suggestions for the PC of a buddy. The components are kinda old but it doesn't matter.

He wants to get new 16 GB RAM and a new very silent CPU cooler.

No looks a solid build.
As for the rest nothing wrong with it only thing I would probably consider changing is you don't need a WD black drive - you can get the cheaper drives if just for data.
Also it is more a personal preference of mine, but I don't like Gigabyte boards - I always go with ASUS, but that is a personal preference as find Gigabyte boards unrealiable in the past.

Well, after couple of days of intensive searching, I have made a selection of potential GPU purchase. Still three players in the game which, in my opinion, I should take into consideration.

Budget : £350 - £370 (maximum)

After watching 39 videos on Youtube with GPUs comparison, beechmarks and the other stuff, I still have no idea what is more worth to get.

I'm thinking of beefing up my PC a little and think the processor need changing. I've currently got a i3 3220 and need a little help.

Im not looking to spend a lot just up to £150 and have narrowed it down to these but just wanted to run it by you guys that's in the know.

Im looking at a AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core for £82 and because i have a old socket 1155 motherboard i'm gonna have to get one of them as well which has to fit my micro atx case and is Socket AM3+ and have found this Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 for £50

This mobo fits all my current stuff, the GeForce GTX 580 and the DDR3 DIMM i have so i shouldn't need to do anything else as far as i know. (I've just noticed it only has 2 DIMM slots which may be a problem in the future and it has SATA 3Gb/s connectors when i need 6Gb/s so i'm gonna have to find another mobo)

Is this a decent enough upgrade and any recommendations on a GPU and mobo if not?

If that CPU is OK i'm gonna have to get this motherboard i think for £58

Asrock 970M Pro3

The only problem is that my current mobo has 5 fan connectors and this has 3, but ill just split one i think because i use 4.
 
I looked at the price and thought they were too expensive but I've just looked and saw that they are socket 1155, so the price i'm paying for a new motherboard could go towards a i5 or i7

I'm a bit weary about buying second hand CPU's though, do you think it's wise buying a second hand one?

Looking on ebay i could get a i5 3570K from £115 so if i do go the route you suggested i would be saving money as well lol. I could probably get the i7 for £150.

Should i just stick to the i5 3570k and save £35?
 
If you are looking at processors wait a month.

Kaby Lake is being released in a few days and Skylake, Haswell and Ivybridge processor prices are going to drop or you will be able to get the new Kaby Lake chips the same price as Skylake and probably a 15% increase in performance at the same time.
