Odd, I didn't think he was any good (but then I don't watch so much of Valencia) but still was an absolute king on PES 6 (IIRC) I always signed him to replace Giggs at United!

but he is 30 and he is defo not top class to play 3-5 more years on top level. you cant build a squad around him in my opinion. he should be a good substitute if something goes wrong in the back

He had a very solid season for Valencia and i think the fact that he can actually pass the ball and run well besides all the other regular defence skills fits Barca defender needs very well, but still 20m is waaaay to much for a 30 year old that aint world class proven.
