The Master League adventures thread

I've a question that is a bit off-topic, but i didn't know where to post it elsewhere : Do the regen players have generic faces or do they keep the same face as the one they regen from ? example : the hazard regen has the same face that hazard has in firebird or not ? I hope you understand the question

Hi, in PES 5 they just come back as the same player with the same face only younger with lower stats. What I used to do was make a note of who retired and just change their names in the Option File so at least it seems a bit more realistic. The only problem with that is that you need 2 option files, original one and master league one. :))

Thank you, but when you talk about the same face, you mean the face from the kitserver, right ?
Changing the players names take effect in ML even when the save was before the editing ?

No I don't use kitserver only the normal in game boring faces :P

Yes the player's names change even after you have started a ML. But if you want to change the names please make sure you have a copy of your original Option File otherwise you will mess that up. ;)

Ok thank you geeeeee, i hope i will one day be able to tell my stories in ML in this topic, but for the moment i'm enjoying more editing than playing :)

Lol as you speak I am editing now. Although the enjoying part of it has stopped and I just want to start playing now.

i had a psp in the past, and i remembered that it was difficult to find pes 6 of. I don't think you can convert ps2 to psp and vice-versa, but i'm not 100% sure.

Oh ok thanks. I was hoping it can be done as I just bought one from Amazon

Keeping it on topic, I look forward to your ML stories.

Think I'll resurrect the old Atlantic type league I did with my fictitious Banilla team.

Probably overwrite one of the other lesser leagues (if I can).

Pes is not just a game for me. The master league has been a part of my life for the past 10 years. I live my fantasy of being a manager, starting at a low tier team, climb through defeats, frustrations and set backs and make my team ranked number one in the world.

The most exciting addition to the master league was the option to manage another club without starting a new campaign from scratch. There is nothing more satisfying than watching your old starter club, once in the mediocrity of lower tiers, fighting it out on it's own among the big players because of the foundation I laid (a fergie like achievement) while me, after winning everything I can with my old club, accepted a new job at another club.

Bring on 2016.

Haha, most interesting point of view. I tried doing that too, but it's just impossible for me to switch team and continue playing.

Coming from PS2 era ML, this gamemode to me is always about playing one team and one team only. Victory is unevitable, sooner or later you will be number one. But I love trying different routes, building different squads and elevating teams from various unusual places to the role of Number One.

I just couldn't change a team. If I want a new team, I start new ML. And former one joins my little hall of fame.

Even though I keep doing the same, every game feels different, every team was distinct. I still remember many players and guess I will have to make my all-star PES 6 ML team next year to honour them all.

Still, I can see why changing teams is fun. I just couldn't do it in the same campaign :D

What's this? Sounds really cool.

Now that both forum groups are merged I hope more people will visit this thread. Please, regardless of the game, post your ML campaigns here. Would be lovely to have the thread running, I love reading about various ML teams.

Cmon!

I know, that's why I never start with my favourite club. I am a Manchester United fan but I never start a master league campaign with united. I start at a weak club, take them to top, establish myself as a top manager, and after 5-10 seasons at couple different leagues, end up at Manchester and continue till next PES release.

Pes (unlike fifa) is a game to be experienced throughout a year. Fifa is only 15 seasons and it's pointless to sign a 16 year old player after 5th season because the game ends before he peaks. That's what makes master league superior. I make sure to retain the fun n excitement by playing every fixture 15 - 20 minute match, 3- 4 hours per day. I dont play other video games except maybe nfs or Assassin Creed or hitman (if they release) So I have got enough time to indulge in PES. And once I start a ML campaign I don't like to quit start over another one. I would like to see my accumulated accomplishments at the end.

But to be honest it becomes a tad boring when same players regenerate again and again after retirement. I hate to see a 16 year old Rooney with his current face. They should probably create some kind of random name and face generator for retired and regenerated players ...lol ;)

Well it's not like I even really have favourite club, so I usually start with some fallen giants or just random teams. Few posts ago there's a whole summary of my recent exploits with Deportivo. Damn they used to be powerful but fell extremely harsh, that's exactly the kind of start I love.

I suspect in a year or two I'll have a go at Parma, it's a shame they ended like this :(

Yeah, I hate restarting MLs too, that's why picking a team takes so much time. Back in school I had a friend who liked PES too (was around PES 6 - PES 2008 era). While I sticked to my edit-made team in PES 5 ML for like ten seasons, he kept changing one every week :D.

As for regens...I usually quit around 5-6 seasons with total domination established, first place in club ranking and team that just can't get better. And I don't even buy players only based on stats. It's just, at some point my team is too good, I get used to it, can't replace anyone, simply because I like all of them, that's when I know it's time to take a break from ML and start new one few weeks later ;)

Yup. I love reviving fallen giants except Liverpool. :p I usually start with Nottingham forest. They were European Champions before.

The funny thing is they once beat me to title once when I was managing Manchester United. Boy I was more happy seeing that than me winning the league myself because in a way it was my effort too.

Moreover before ending up at united I make sure to end the crappy madrid - barca dominance in la liga by creating a new super power out of some other shitty Spanish team. ;)

I can't wait to get started on ML this year, just need to decide who to start with. My two choices are either MK Dons and promote youth like they do IRL or create Parma and bring them back to dominance in Italy. What do you guys reckon?

I want to play Parma in PES 6 too one day, they are just a perfect candidate for classic ML. You can do it, I will try too in few months (need to rest from Mediterranean zone) and we can compare our results at restoration of Parma :D

But before that, I need to stop my Deportivo game for now and rest from that zone. I guess my next choice will be Anderlecht in France-Germany-Benelux, I will post some screenshots once I'm done with first season ;)

Yeah I'm likewise, has to be one team and one team only. I have managed a couple of International teams, but not sure if I'll continue to do that.

In regards to Atlantic League,

Something along those lines.

To add even more variety to this thread, I will soon start a ML with PES 2008 on PS2. I have just rediscovered this gem that kind of got lost because of the disappointing PS3 and PC versions. For me the CPU is very good compared to PES 5 and 6 as they defend well and attack well too.

I am still thinking of what team to begin with, I normally start with ML default team but as was mentioned earlier it can be a waste of a couple of seasons until they improve although it does give me a bit of satisfaction when they start getting better and I bring new players in.

I may even start as Tottenham with default ML team in Division 2 and try to bring in some of their good players like Kane, Eriksen, and Mason and also buy some unknown stars.

I have even ordered it on PSP so that hopefully I can continue playing it when not at home. I will keep you posted to what I decide.

This thread will be great! :BOP:

Hey Mr. Gee(why so many eeeees I just can't getem right!) this is one helluva idea! I've seen some PES 2008 gameplay out of blue recently and man this might be a way to go? I will have to look at it.

These players sound kinda modern, why not default OF? I'd go for it certainly!

As for thread, I had some ideas but doubt they're doable. Would require editing first post, but we could have for example index of all current MLs thread members are playing, with links to their posts and we could share all kinds of news, chatty chatties, a lot of stuff I can't even think of, Master League is just legendary gamemode, some Master League dedicated zone on forum (regardless of PES game) would be amazing!

I just feel like many people have no idea about this thread and that's why it's so deserted :(

@fd1972uk

Basically mixing leagues? I do that all the time, there's nothing better than have top Euroteam every second week in league time. Tension is huge and every point matters ;)

geeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, because if I remember the name Gee was already taken also Geeee and Geeeee. I think that's the reason it was a while ago now :P

I think it's a good idea with regards to changing the first post but to edit it you would have to be the person that originally posted it. The only other thing is to start a new one. Like you said it would be good if somewhere on the forum there could be a dedicated zone for Master League adventures regardless of what game it's on.

I'm still debating wether to start a ML with PES 2008 PS2 or PES 2016 PS3

I have got pes 2008 ps2... A refined version of pes 6.. but it lacks a lot of features that pes 6 had. Especially in editing and stadium, like Old Trafford is missing.

Yeh i know what you are saying but for me the most important thing is the gameplay and personally i find PES 6 and also PES 5 too easy now regardless of any stat changes i have made. But with 2008 i am finding the CPU attacks a lot better and defending is more difficult. I played a few games in ML (not an official one just a practice session) and i have had to drop from Top Player to Regular as it is that hard. The only problem that ive noticed is the goal keepers can be a bit 'pantsy'. Maybe increasing their stats will improve them.

I will still be editing EPL teams and adding Championship teams but otherwise i will keep the licenced teams and just update the squads. ;)

True that. Pes 2008 ps2 what the last decent version in the ps2 era.. pes 2009 onwards even though similar to previous versions, Konami didn't give much attention because ps3 was out by then.

that BPL feeling in front of your console when you win 5-2 after you were down 1-2 against Crystal Palace just because you got quality players in MU. loving PES2016ML

loaned Welbeck from Arsenal, might swap it for Depay at the end of the season :O he suits my tactics more, Memphis most of the time get lost on the pitch, only shines against lower teams. blasphemy i know

This is my first PES i will keep in probably a decade, and I had one game in ML last night.

I went for the random players option as Atletico Madrid, and signed Martial as my one proper signing. He's brilliant. Won my first game 3-2 but still really struggling with shooting. It is not how I remember it.

Really enjoying Master League. It's mostly the same old but the updates and new layout are nice. I'm loving the game itself though. Each game still feels completely unique. Had a cracking game against Bournemouth where I dominated everything, but it ended it up 1 - 1. The game after I was absolutely annihilated by PSG in the Champions League and couldn't keep possession, ending up 3 - 0 down at half time. I ended up trying to go for long balls and pace and managed to bring it back to 3 - 2 at least.

Then there's a cup game, where I mostly played reserves and was 2 - 1 down until the last 5 minutes. I brought on the big guns, equalised, and then from their resulting kick off this happened.

Not the most spectacular of goals, and also includes the most pointless of all stepovers which almost killed my momentum (I still just mess with the stick when it comes to skill moves). It did however make jump out of my seat - it just looked and felt great.

Another game, difficult game against Everton - absolutely destroying me in midfield and I was struggling to get a chance. I bring on Giroud and start playing long balls to him. I actually win a free kick (needs to be fixed asap!) and this happens...
