Manager Gerd DK amid big controversy caused by replay of top match

Getafe CF- Aek Athens 0-1 (stopped after 87' due to crowd troubles)

Gerd DK was bleeding like a pig, apparently hurt by a stone which was thrown by an AEK fan. This at the end of a match where AEK (second 5 points behind Getafe) was leading 0-1 (Bourbos goal)

UEFA decided to replay the match, a hugely controversial decision...

Getafe CF - AEK Athens 1-0
26' Uche

Dynamo Zagreb - Getafe CF 0-2
36' Uche
58' Sousa

The second goal was perhaps the most beautiful goal i've ever scored...

Sousa, who scored an astonishing goal

PS: what really happened is that my son became sick during the game against AEK, we had to rush him to a doctor (nothing serious) and i had to replay the match the day after...i won it...

RC Strasbourg signed Israeli international defender Klemi Saban from Maccabi Netanya and Qatar teenager Ibrahim Abdulmaged from Al-Sadd.
Swedish club Hammarby IF came in with a minimal bid for Strasbourg's promising midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, but both player and club snubbed the move.
Goalkeeper Régis Gurtner was sold to Spanish side Osasuna.

Out of the League Cup & into
the second half of the season

Strasbourg were defeated 5-3 on aggregate by Toulouse in the League Cup. Things got worse however, as the second half of the season saw Racing register four consecutive defeats, scoring only one goal.
The sky blues began to slip down the table, before the home game against Nice, in which substitute Kevin Gameiro netted the winner five minutes from time, after coming back from 2-1 down. Both the players' and manager's joy at stopping the rot was plain to see, as the besuited manager ran the touchline, fists punching the air.

Looking forward to your reports Db :)

As it happens that same Mansaré proved a bit of a handfull for Getafe too in the Cup: home leg 2-1 win but Mansare spoiled it by scoring a more than deserved goal in extra time.
Toulouse were by far the better team.
Were did you get that Qatar player prof, with which team is he???

Hi Gerd. By default, he's in the Sparta Rotterdam squad.

Hello mate,

after some tricky games good to see u get a late winner against Nice (i bet you were in your lounge punching the air after that one!)

Was the Hammarby approach as piss-poor as it sounds? cheeky beggars.

that Abdulmaged fella appears to have been a database error on behalf of Konami jeff and i think. He definetly was in the Qatar NT (and presumably in the non playable teams) but we couldnt find any record of
him ever being at or going to sparta!

db

Hi db, that's what i thought as i did a bit of research on him too. What's strange is that if he slipped into the game from the hidden non-playable national teams, his name is oddly, spelt correctly, when they are not normally. Although you can also spell it Abdulmajeed, i think. Hurray for the database error in this case.

The Hammarby approach was indeed cheeky. He wasn't up for transfer, yet they offered a fee less than he was worth. Normally you're offered substantially more for a non-transfer listed player.

Renteria finally opened his account with a brace

Strasbourg looked to have their season back on track with two back to back wins on days 20 and 21. However, a crushing 3-0 defeat in Marseille, followed by a 1-0 loss at home to Toulouse, saw Racing stumble once again, languishing in mid-table mediocrity.
Week 24 saw something every Strasbourg fan had been waiting for and by now, thought would never happen. Wason Renteria finally found the net for his club, with two goals against Nancy. In this instance, it so happened that his second secured a point for Strasbourg. The Colombian's poor form had seen him dropped by his manager for a lengthy spell, but it appears the tactic has motivated the forward to find some form.

Antoine van der Linden has rubbished suggestions that he is unsettled
at CS Maritimo and looking for a quick fix move back home via Venlo.

"Look" he said "we have the squad this year to really make an impact.
I left Gronigen on a free and considered my move to Portugal at length.
Don't get me wrong, I still love to go back to the Netherlands, but there's
no way im tempted to return whilst the ink on my contract has barely dried
"

Rumours had begun circulating after the elegant left full back was
rumoured to have fallen out with boss Sebastian Lazaroni, a situation
exacerbated by the sudden and dramatic departure of fellow Dutchman
Darl Douglas from Madeira to Willem II.

"Darl's unexpected departure was a blow, I can't deny that.
He was one of my closest pals in the team, and natrually as we shared
a common language we did tend to gravitate torwards each other.
However, it's simply not true to say that I have had trouble fitting
in with my new teammates nor communicate with the gaffer.

Cata Diaz: a sending off followed by a fantastic match

Getafe CF are leading the table with a 16 point advance. Fenerbahce are second.
Getafe are virtualle certain of promotion because the gap with fourth placed Panathinaikos is 24 points...

Great page db...
When after 5 years i catch up with the photographs, you come with this spectacular and astonishing new thing...i'm jealous, but i really love it.

Nice set up for your league too..

hi gerd thanks.

it could be fur coat and no knickers syndrome though if the team doesnt perform!

apologies in advance as that font doesnt come equipped with commas so my sentences may well be even poor from a grammatical point of view than normal.

shame that kepa blanco never really got much of a chance at west ham last yr isnt it.

Hey Db, read this, this morning.

You'd better be quick ;)

Will you be using a 4-3-3 out of interest?

the swines!! oh well game set and match then isnt it.

im like the slighty dumpy but possibly cute in a certain light type of girl next door and then along comes Adriana Lima :(

hmm good question mate. ive never used 4-3-3 in any ml but obv its the prevalent dutch system bar a few clubs.

I still favour a little and large duo upfront where ever possible.Striker Paul Jans is pretty tall - 1m 92 so he would appear to be the favoured front man. I really need to get out on the training pitch and analyse the squad i think.

That 4-3-3 thing is highly exagerated.
Ajax swears by it...all their youth teams play it and they even have always the same jersey number for one particular position...
PSV rarely uses it i think...
I've been looking at the Eredivisie site and i think Venlo rarely uses 4-3-3...

I imagine Venlo use something like a 9-1 formation ;)

I always thought Dutch and Scandinavian sides predominantly favoured the 4-3-3 formation, wingers and so on.

I too like the little and large upfront db. Although, i will have to go shopping for a large chap.
I've recently switched to 2 upfront, because with 4 games remaining, there's a heated race between about 4 or 5 clubs (Strasbourg included) for that 6th and last European spot. Of course, we should be happy with just staying up, but i demand a bit more from my players. Renteria appears to have woken from his goalshy slumber. Last night he grabbed another goal and won a penalty in each of the games. Admittedly, he works better paired with another striker.

I got the message "one away from promotion"...in my Getafe ML...(i've put the settings too easy...but i really am nejoying it: 18 points gap with the second team which Fener, also got the top scorer (Uche) and the 4 best assisters (is that English) and on top of that a new favourite: Albín. He's an Uruguayan AMF...
Kepa is not my sort of player in PES db...
I've never seen him irl (you should know how many of my favourite PES players i've never seen irl, which also means on television of course).
When i watched Liverpool-Besiktas a couple of weeks ago, i saw 3 former ML players for the first time irl: Mehmet Sedef, their CB who had an awfull night and another player that i can't remember...
I used to love using Turkish players in my teams...

NUTMEG HAPPY WITH STRONG SEASON FINISH

STRASBOURG WAIT ON UEFA DECISION

With a possible European place in their sights, Strasbourg ground out four wins in their last five league games of the season. A loss to Auxerre on the penultimate day, meant sixth place was all but out of their hands.

On the final day, Saint Etienne leapfrogged Rennes into sixth place, as Strasbourg claimed seventh. Saint Etienne lost the league cup final to Lyon and would have claimed the Uefa cup spot, had they not entered the league's top six european places. This could mean good news for Racing, as Uefa may yet hand them a place in Europe next season, as a consequence of the events. Uefa cup football at the Stade de la Meinau would be a welcome sight.

Final Standings 2007/2008:

Lyon 67
Monaco 60

Marseille 54
PSG 53
Lens 49
St Etienne 45

Strasbourg 45*
Rennes 44
Bordeaux 43
Auxerre 42
Toulouse 41
Nice 33
Le Mans 30
Nancy 26
Lille 19
Metz 19

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES

Strasbourg will turn their thoughts to the off-season, including transfers, contracts and friendlies. Racing have accepted a pre-season friendly offer from Swedish outfit, Hammarby IF. Previous to this, there will also be a friendly against SM Caen.

THE TRANSFER MARKET

Professor Nutmeg is thought to by eyeing strikers in the off-season. According to sources in England, the manager is interested in Polish target man, Gregorz Rasiak, who currently plays for Southampton in the country's second tier.

The agent of Israeli international Omer Golan, claims Strasbourg are interested in his client, stating a move to France would be welcomed.

FC Sion's Costa Rican international, Alvaro Saborio is also believed to be a target for the Alsace club.

It looks increasingly likely that Strasbourg's on-loan strikers, Wason Renteria (Porto) and Alvaro Santos (Sochaux) won't be signed from their respective clubs, as the manager looks to possibly build a new look attack.

Hope Strasbourg can play in the UEFA Cup prof.
May i suggest a good striker (IRL that is): Israëli striker Barda who irl plays for Racing Genk and is good...of course i guess the great tactician will maybe have some better options...

STRASBOURG SIGN STRIKE PAIR

photo.php

Strasbourg made two signinigs in the off-season, both of them strikers.

Finnsih striker Hermanni Vuorinen joins the Alsace club from Fredrikstad FK, after completing a season-long loan at HJK Helsinki. It's hoped that the giant Finn will add some much needed presence to Strasbourg's attack. Whilst not neccessarilly a threat in the air, his sheer size will cause concern for defenders.
Apparently he is nicknamed "Heavy" because of his interest in heavy-music. Dubbed, "Finalnd's Ruud van Nistelrooy," Vuorinen scored 21 goals in 32 appearances for FC Honka in the 2005-2006 season.

Strasbourg's other signing is Israeli international striker, Omer Golan.
Golan moves from Maccabi Petah Tikva and has put pen to paper on a three year contract with the Alsace club.

Headed for the door at the Stade de la Meinau instead, were Alvaro Santos, whose season-long loan from Sochaux expired and Wason Renteria. On-loan Renteria returned to his parent club, FC Porto, but was quickly snapped up by Toulouse, ensuring the Colombian will continue to play in France.

NEW SIGNINGS ON TARGET

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES

Strasbourg 2
Golan 24' 84'
SM Caen 2 Samson 10' 27'

Strasbourg's new striker Omer Golan, showed promising form in a pre-season friendly against SM Caen. The Israeli international struck twice to prevent his new club from losing the fixture. His first goal saw him meet a fantastic cross from fellow countryman, Klemi Slaban. His excellent half volley was well saved by Costil, but Golan was alert enough to follow up and register his first goal for the club. His second came six minutes from time, when Pascal Johansen picked out the striker from a corner, his header, powerful and accurate.

Strasbourg 1 Vuorinen 45'+1
Hammarby 0

Not to be outdone by his fellow new signing, Hermanni Vuorinen netted his first goal for the club against Swedish club Hammarby. Coming in first half stoppage time, the Finn chased a throughball from Abdessadki and slammed it past the keeper from 3 yards out, after a brief tussle with a defender.

Something truly stupid db...our politicians have lost all sense of proportion. Three digfferent scenario's are possible:

1 they come back to their senses, form a government and return back to business as usual.
2 the Chechoslovakian scenario: a peacefull way to get 2 ne (and utterly useless) countries
3 the Yugoslavian scenario...one does not want to think about that (and this one seems hardly likely, but still).

It's all about the region where i was born and raised: the Flemish speaking region around Brussels. Factis that part of that region de facto is not longer Flemish speaking in reality...although legally speaking it is Flemish...it's all about six villages basically...my parent still leave in one of them Sint-Genesius-Rode (or for the French speaking majority of the village: Rhode- Saint- Genèse). The problem is that Flanders biggest party has an alliance with a tiny very hardcore Flemish thinking anti-Belgian party and the same thing happened with the Walloon party: an alliance with a tiny hardcore French thinking party...it's sad...

Champions !!!!!

A 0-2 win against AEK Athens means that Getafe CF has clinched the second division title. With 6 matches to go Fenerbahce can't join them anymore...
It was very appropriate that Nigerian attackes Uche scored both goals in an easy win.
Having won the division 2 title, Getafe Cf now can solely concentrate on the division 2 Cup where they are almost certain to be in the final after a 6-1 win against Dynamo Zagreb in their home leg. The second semi-final match saw a 0-0 draw in the first leg between Athletic de Bilbao and Levante.

Uche is currently the division's top scorer with 22 goals scored.
