Stadiums are the cause for slowdown

That is a pretty big claim Zain, I hear you say.

However through simple trial and error I can conclude what I suspect causes the slowdown in PES 2008.

Now, let me start off by saying my PC isn't the top end of the range nor is it at the lower end. I have a 3200+ AMD Athlon 64 bit processor, 6800 GT 256mb ram, 1 GB DDR2 ram and am running XP. So as you can see, I won't be running this game on high setting on the highest resolution however medium on 1024x768 seems to do the job.

Secondly, I have the LOD mixer and Kitserver installed, allowing me to fiddle with the graphical options. I play on Medium details, 1024x768 with LOD Mixer set at about 0.05. Normally I do not get much slow down, the only real case of it is when the keeper makes a save and then goes to kick the ball out from the goal box. Apart from that, everything runs pretty smooth.

So how did I come to my conclusion. Well, I was playing the Master League and came across Tottenham, who play at 'Antlion Stadium'. Now the slow down in this game was atrocious at best. I'm talking complete and utter 10 fps style play anywhere near the 18 yard box. Almost unplayable and certainly causing me grief. Anyway, I decide to quit out and turn down my LOD mixer graphics to see if it would make a difference. The graphics looked appalling but I figured it would help. It didn't. At all. Still the same shocking slowdown as last time.

I came to the conclusion that is must be the stadium, as I had just played multiple games and no slow down, as well as the fact that I was not running anything in the background on my desktop. However I needed to be sure, so I decided to run a few tests on different variants you can set when selecting stadiums.

I changed the time to night, the weather to fine and the turf to lattice. No difference, still laggy as. I change the turf to no pattern, thinking it might be that. No difference. I even bumped down my resolution to 800x600. Still god awful slow.

So then I tried the Konami Stadium. Ran like a dream, no slow down, everything perfect again.

So my conclusion stands, stadiums are causing the slow downs. Avoid Antlion Stadium at all cost.

What does this mean for us? Maybe if stadiums get implemented into Kitserver, we might be cured of slow down (or it may even be the opposite, where it causes slowdown!). Maybe people can hunt for more stadium that causes their slowdowns and let us know.

However, I cannot test other peoples 'rigs' and don't know if this affects PS2, PS3, Xbox360 etc and Antlion stadium may be fine to other people.

But I thought I would share this with everyone and maybe it might give an insight for patcher's to look at.

The 360 version is fine also u have a an old system u should get dual core, another 1gig of ram and a 8000 series Nvidia Card and u would notice a vast improvement and an LOD of 0.05 is far to high for ur card to perform at try the 120-100 and 90-80 for the second and it should improve

Depends on your pc also mate, not stadiums alone.

I get no slowdown on any stadiums, however I have a pretty high spec PC set-up:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4400+ with HT technology
2GB RAM memory
2 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900GT graphics in SLi configuration

Kindest regards,

I dont think its the stadiums, it all depends on your graphics card, a higher end graphics card would be perfect for this game.

My system is:
AMD ATHLON 64+ 3000
PALIT 7600 GS Sonic Edition 256 mb (overclocked)
1 GB DDR 400

I'm playing PES at 1280X1024 with high detail, everything run smooth but near penalty area there are many slowdowns. It depends NOT my computer because at Konami Stadium everything is ok. No slowdowns.

Konami must with a new patch corrupt this shit. We are not SLI system with quad core CPU's.

Are you sure there are ABSOLUTELY no slowdowns on that system? Far worse than mine but I have fps-drops during replays and on occations even on corners and goalkicks..

Try a fps-meter and tell me you dont drop down to about 40 in replays.. I seriosly doubt your system beats all the high-end ones on my pes-community..

Edit: noticed now that u have 2x nvidia.. making our systems quite the same.. I got 2.7ghz c2d with 2gb 800mhz ram.. And a geforce 8800GTS 640mb..

I play on high settings in 1600x900 with lod mixer set to 0.20 and I rarely see a slowdown. Corners and full boxes are smooth.
What I perceive as slowdown is just a short stuttering.
I haven´t noticed any difference playing in different stadiums.

A64 3200+ 2,4 Ghz, 7800 GT, 1 GB RAM, pretty lame nowadays.

Setting to 1680x1050 gives me sometimes slowdowns at corners so I stick to 1600x900.

I'm using an AMD 64x2 3800+ processor,7600GS graphics card and 2Gb RAM. The game plays good at some stadiums(konami, olimpico..) at high detail 1024x768 and really bad at some other stadiums(catalonia..)

I agree with Zain.
And it's pretty obvious that if you have a high-spec PC, you'll have the game running smoothly. But we are talking about average performance. The game does not perform equally on all stadiums or instances.
Anyway, I feel this is just like the first version on the PS2. We can do nothing but wait for the next version to solve this kind of problems throught the developer's experiences. After all, that's why we like PES6 more than any other: it was an improvement over many previous versions.

Hi! I have a amd dual core x2 4200+ (working at 2400 ghz) , with a 2600xt ddr3 512 mb and windows vista , 3 gb ddr2 667 mhz working in dual channel mode (2 dims of 1 gb and 2 of 512 mb)..and i can't run the game on high resolution without experiencing a lot of slowdowns..I already installed all the patches that konami released and tried to play with LOD..don´t i meet the required specs ? What the hell..Thx in advance.

You have a mid to low range card, this game is unfortunately very resource hungry (unoptimised code i'd say)

i have an 8800gt oc (third from top) and i get nos low downs ever at high settings on 1680x1050.

But CPU also matters. When i used that card on an older amd64 3200+ i had slowdowns on replays.

RAM doesn't matter, the game uses around 200MB max, so anything over 1GB is fine. Besides, even if you have less the worse thing that can happen is longer loading times, or maybe sound skipping.
