If you're on PC there's loads of mods which really add to the experience.

No hopefully the Blackwater stuff they keep talking about will be RDR3, but given GTA 6 is a couple of years away.
RDR3 if ever released is probably 10 years away.

Me and Placebo use the same mods:-

Project Austin 1907 - Adds a few buildings to the Austin area.
Ambient Gang - Adds random gang encounters to the game (this is in the game kind of already, but this makes them a lot more frequent.)
Crime & Law Rebalance - Allows you to commit crimes in the Wilderness and minor crimes in public, without being wanted if no one around.
Bank Robbery - Can rob any bank in the game
Buyable Properties - Can purchase houses and safe houses on the map
Cut Dialogue - Just re-adds some pointless dialogue which was cut from the final game
Real Life Weapons - Just changes the names of the weapons to real names
Stagecoaches - Allows you to do missions where you can rob stagecoaches
PED Damage Overhaul- Changes the damage for yourself and the enemy, but not a massive fan of this one.
All Items - Allows you to buy everything in game, rather than having to wait till it is unlocked in the story

I have finished the story a couple of days ago. I really loved the way it developed all along the game. I feel a bit sad because I will surely have less motivation to come back to the game and explore its incredible landscape, now that the story is over. It was really a game that allowed me relaxing and changing my mind. Yes the missions were relatively easy to complete with settings close to default and somehow a bit repetitive. But exploring the open world and the random encounters were always good time and good fun. I have played the game more than 150 hours and I was still discovering things in the open world and I am sure that there's still many more to discover.
 
I started it about a month ago on steam deck. I ended up shooting a wagon too close and it set on fire, set me on fire and set my horse on fire and it wouldn't let me revive it. I was so mortified about my horse I just restarted the whole thing.

If playing on PC and possibly Steam Dock if you have access to files.
I used to copy my save game at the end of every play to the desktop - That way anything bad happen you just overwrite.

In my first few days of playing GTA V, I tried to show a girlfriend a cat; it had jumped onto a handrail near my character.

My character was crouched at the time, so I pressed a button to stand up. Except, I pressed the wrong button, and proceed to punch the cat.

Off a bridge... The handrail was along the side of a bridge. So, I punched a cat off a bridge. Into oncoming traffic.

I am ashamed to admit this, but I did a tiny cry.

I never finished this game precisely because you waste so much time on trivial things; it feels sluggish. Even though I played with a fast-travel mod, I just couldn't get into it.I played for maybe 10 hours at most. Right now, I don't know what to play besides FIFA, so maybe this is the right time to give it another shot.
 
@bsmaff I'd never played it before and since I realised there was a revive tonic for my horse I just assumed that would revive it. I guess it doesn't work when it's burnt to a crisp. I'll consider doing that l, don't want to get attached to a horse and it die again 😄

@Chris Davies I'm manly I don't cry over my horse dying 😭😄

just explore and take the misions as they pop up instead of following a storyline, its brilliant, did exactly the same thing with Witcher 3, which i also had problems getting in to

on RDR1 it's even better. You can skin your horse. I just kill my horse after every mission and skin it and sell the skin. The amount of horses I skinned in RDR1.. good times.

On rdr2 you can skin the horse but dynamite usually works well.

This is the ONE AND ONLY game I've ever pre-ordered (digital download) in my life (I'm 47 years old). On Ps4, that is... To tell the truth, it was the sole reason I purchased a Ps4 in the first place. Because back in 2018, no one knew if it was ever coming out on PC.

It was worth every single penny.

Yes, make sure you do this.
The side missions and random encounters are the best part of the game, as the actual missions if you rush the game get very repetitive.

Just don't Google the cool things to do until you complete the game yourself.
Once you have completed then start doing all the really cool stuff online.

But will give you one piece of advice make sure you go here and speak to the guy - He give you something important.

The thing is, for the past few years I dont have much time for gaming—usually just 30–60 minutes a day during the week (though not every day), when I’ll typically fire up FIFA for two or three matches. On weekends, I might get around three hours a day. That’s why I’ve recently been choosing shorter, more intense games—titles where I can complete a specific mission or stage and then step away from the computer without worry. For instance, it took me about six months to finish The Witcher 3 the first time around; that kind of pace makes it hard to really get immersed in the game or maintain a sense of plot continuity.

It's because it's done very well unlike your average ubisoft game where the side activities feel pointless and boring.

In rdr2, every time I explored the map from one point to another, I randomly stumbled upon side activities which felt like regular missions. The experience was more organic and rewarding as a result. It felt like part of the game instead of being shoved in for the sake of padding. Basically the game never got boring until I was done with everything.
