Real Madrid Thread

I have read somewhere that Jupp Heynckes has said that he is not going to retire from football and that his future will be known after DFB cup final. Maybe he's coming to Madrid?

personally I see him as the biggest candidate for Real job. Ancelotti is very unlikely to leave PSG.

I would be very happy to see him go to Real.
After the way he has been treated at both Bayern and Real, I hope he is the man to lead Real Madrid to "La Decima".

Ronaldo is not happy...he thinks he can be happy at MUTD. Sorry, his words not mine, in a comment he said on holiday. I get the quote from him soon.

It is now official
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Carlo Ancelotti is Real Madrid's new manager for the next 3 seasons. Please welcome Carlo in the comments..

Wondering about whether Perez will go crazy and pay that insane amount over Bale... How could Ancelotti fit Bale in a sane formation:

------------------------Ronaldo-------------------------

--------------Modric------Isco-------Özil----------------

--Bale------------------X.Alonso----------------Carvajal--

------------Ramos--------Pepe--------Varane------------

-------------------------Casillas------------------------

But no place for Khedira, Illarramendi, Casemiro, DiMaria, Benzema...

Would be hard to fit Bale.

--------Casillas-----------
Carajal--Varane-Ramos-Marcelo
-----Illarramendi-Alonso----
---Bale----Ozil----Isco
--------Ronaldo---------

I suspect something similar, maybe Ronaldo stays on the left forcing one of Ozil/Isco to sit out.

That team has crazy exciting written all over it. Except for Ramos. Can't wait for that guy to disappear from the first team.

Looking at how they lined up against PSG now, im more certain that's how they'd line up with Ronaldo and Bale rotating between CF and winger.

No pure striker there though.

No place for Modric (who has been sheer class lately).

Great speed in the wing and great touch and control in the triangle formed by Illarra - Alonso - Isco.

I believe Real might even play with two variations:

1- High possession game (vs smaller teams in Bernabéu):

--------Casillas-----------
Carajal--Varane-Ramos-Marcelo
-----------Alonso----------
----Ozil---Modric--Isco------
-Bale--------------Ronaldo-

Where there are five class players surrounding the box for high possession and one-twos, two lightning fast wingers in order to break through the sides into the box, and no pure striker. Illarra may be dropped in these games, playing with just Alonso as DMF and Modric as a third OMF alongside Özil and Isco for greater ball control and long shot ability.

And 2- Quick counter attack formation:

--------Casillas-----------
Carajal--Varane-Ramos-Marcelo
-----Illarramendi---Alonso----
--Bale------Özil-----Ronaldo
----------Benzema----------

With two wide fast wingers, one single fast OMF (Özil) and a finishing pure striker like Benzema. Isco may be dropped from the starting 11 then. This formation for those games vs stronger opponents, with two DMFs for greater consistency, two very wide lightning bolts in Bale and Ronaldo, and Özil/Alonso for long through passing.

I could even see them playing only 3 defenders in home games vs very weak teams:

--------Casillas-----------
Carvajal----Varane----Ramos-
----Illarra--------Alonso----
--Bale----Ozil---Isco--Ronaldo
--------Benzema----------

With Carvajal and Ramos staying back a bit more, Illarra and Alonso controlling the midfield and linking with the two OMFs (Özil and Isco), and three attacking behemoths like Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema.

A 3 man defense is pretty hard to master (see Pep's last year at Barcelona) but in some games Real would just play with Marcelo as a midfielder anyway (he would miss the attacker behind his back once and again and again), so why not just do away with him and accept you are just going to have three defenders plus one of the DMFs that will stay a bit back? You already have two OMFs plus the other DMF to control the attack...

Still, you can replace Bale for Di María in each of those formations, save the 100M+Coentrao, and buy Rooney + Ibrahimovic + Silva with that money.

TOPOR Casillas and Carvajal out, Dieo Lopez (better GK than Casillas) and Arbeloa (the best spanish riht winger) in. The rest is ok but i think that Khedira is necessary.
Now the majority of Real Madrid fans thinks that Casillas was a traitor the last season with Mourinho. Nou RM fans calls he TOPOR (MOLE), because he dont accept that D. Lopez is now better GK, and he thinks that can play all the games for the past, and not for the present performances.

Diego Lopez better than Casillas? You need a new dealer bro.

Ferguson and Mourinho thinks that D. Lopez is better than Casillas now.
Silvino Louro that developed GKs like Cech and Julio Cesar at his best form status, thinks that...

I think that you need a new eyes man...

CASILLAS WAS THE BEST GK OF THE WORLD BUT NOW IS STALLED, BECAUSE HE HAVE TERRIFIC PROBLEMS WITH THE AERIAL OUT, IS A KEEPER THAT ONLY LIVE OF HIS REFLECTIONS.
NOW GKS LIKE NEUER, SIRIGU, VALDES, D. LOPEZ, CECH, TER STEGEN, COURTUOIS AND BUFFON ARE BETTER.
YOU ONLY MUST TO WATCH THE PERFORMANCE OF CASILLAS IN CONFEDERATIONS CUP.

I've always thought Casillas is a great 'reflex' keeper rather than all-round keeper like Neuer. Same as Victor Valdes.

The stats don't lie, Diego Lopez has been pretty awesome and consistent. Some of the saves he was making last year were quite crazy.

Lopez was at least as influential as Cakir in getting Madrid past United in the CL quarter final. He saved 3 one on ones across the 2 legs alone, he was excellent.

So, Madrid are down a striker, and both Rooney and Suarez appear to be available. Does that just make too much sense?

-----Alonso--Khedeira-----
--Di Maria-Isco---Ronaldo-
----------Rooney----------

Ooooof.

are you guys serious? b'cuz kaka's never been that good for a long time since he had his injury woes. with "that", as you know, I mean the level of modric/di maria/özil/isco/ronaldo. also it'd be a crime to send özil to bench for the sake of a newcomer (no matter who he is). his service for real madrid ever since he came is unquestionable and he always keeps his form up as well. no reason for that, imo.
Can you imagine how lost Rooney would be in Spain? The man barely speaks his own language let alone Spanish

If Ozil is too good for the bench, and Isco is the shiny new toy, does that mean that it's Di Maria who gets benched? He's one of the few 'naturally' wide players in the game, and I think they're required.

You can only fit so many world class players into one XI!

here it is beach, my favorite formation on video games (with one difference though, no out-and-out striker)

------------------------ lopez ---------------------

-------- varane ------ pepe ----- ramos --------

di maria ----- modric --- alonso ----- coentrao

-------- özil ---------- isco -------- ronaldo -----

purely based on my fantasy. :P I know it will probably never happen irl and never work either but I'd surely give it a shot, if I were the coach of rm :)

p.s. actually, when I thought twice, this lineup (almost) has all the makings of a successful one.

there are two very hard-working wingers on the sides who can run non-stop all game (di maria, coentrao),
two great midfielders in the middle who can play the game both ways, offensively and defensively (modric, alonso),
two 'fake wingers' upfront who'd cut inside most of the time to provide an assist (özil) or to get a scoring chance (ronaldo),
a ball-playing defender in the centre of the backline (pepe) and two defenders beside him who are able to defend inside and out (varane, ramos).

so, the only possible problem there is the role of isco. if he manages to play a similar role to messi's at barcelona (I mean, as well as he does) and become that so called 'false 9', then it's all good. :)
