Nice. Perhaps we could pick him up at a discounted rate ;-)
I have read somewhere that Jupp Heynckes has said that he is not going to retire from football and that his future will be known after DFB cup final. Maybe he's coming to Madrid?
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Carlo Ancelotti is Real Madrid's new manager for the next 3 seasons. Please welcome Carlo in the comments..
--------Casillas-----------
Carajal--Varane-Ramos-Marcelo
-----Illarramendi-Alonso----
---Bale----Ozil----Isco
--------Ronaldo---------
I suspect something similar, maybe Ronaldo stays on the left forcing one of Ozil/Isco to sit out.
You can keep your grubby mitts away from Silva
No pure striker there though.
No place for Modric (who has been sheer class lately).
Great speed in the wing and great touch and control in the triangle formed by Illarra - Alonso - Isco.
I believe Real might even play with two variations:
1- High possession game (vs smaller teams in Bernabéu):
--------Casillas-----------
Carajal--Varane-Ramos-Marcelo
-----------Alonso----------
----Ozil---Modric--Isco------
-Bale--------------Ronaldo-
Where there are five class players surrounding the box for high possession and one-twos, two lightning fast wingers in order to break through the sides into the box, and no pure striker. Illarra may be dropped in these games, playing with just Alonso as DMF and Modric as a third OMF alongside Özil and Isco for greater ball control and long shot ability.
And 2- Quick counter attack formation:
--------Casillas-----------
Carajal--Varane-Ramos-Marcelo
-----Illarramendi---Alonso----
--Bale------Özil-----Ronaldo
----------Benzema----------
With two wide fast wingers, one single fast OMF (Özil) and a finishing pure striker like Benzema. Isco may be dropped from the starting 11 then. This formation for those games vs stronger opponents, with two DMFs for greater consistency, two very wide lightning bolts in Bale and Ronaldo, and Özil/Alonso for long through passing.
I could even see them playing only 3 defenders in home games vs very weak teams:
--------Casillas-----------
Carvajal----Varane----Ramos-
----Illarra--------Alonso----
--Bale----Ozil---Isco--Ronaldo
--------Benzema----------
With Carvajal and Ramos staying back a bit more, Illarra and Alonso controlling the midfield and linking with the two OMFs (Özil and Isco), and three attacking behemoths like Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema.
A 3 man defense is pretty hard to master (see Pep's last year at Barcelona) but in some games Real would just play with Marcelo as a midfielder anyway (he would miss the attacker behind his back once and again and again), so why not just do away with him and accept you are just going to have three defenders plus one of the DMFs that will stay a bit back? You already have two OMFs plus the other DMF to control the attack...
Still, you can replace Bale for Di María in each of those formations, save the 100M+Coentrao, and buy Rooney + Ibrahimovic + Silva with that money.
Diego Lopez better than Casillas? You need a new dealer bro.
It saddens me that someone as good as Kaka is the sub for Isco/Ronaldo/Di Maria.
Can you imagine how lost Rooney would be in Spain? The man barely speaks his own language let alone Spanish
