Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yeah its all rainbows and butterflies and everythign is overly positive, 'most definately'. Every year it is the same, and I love how in their podcasts they say that they werent overly positive and how they said it was an 'evolution' not a revolution. Well yeah no s*#t that word is actually in the title. Last year they hyped up the game and said how it was like PES5 whic IMO was one of the best if not the best.

Now theyre gloating about KONAMI's community website. Hello what kind of consultative process is established at the end of the development cycle. What possibly could they implement now that would change the game. The way I see it, it will take a minor miracle for PES to be playable. It was not playable in pes2008 and its not playable in 2009. Look at the standard of games right now, PES is no where near it.

But like every year we hope. To quote Adam "listen everything what you've been saying is going to be in PES 2010 to a certain degree but some things are going to be in 2011, but hey Suff so what look at EA theyre doing exactly the same thing"....Yes, but EA (irrespective of whether you play the game or not, or are blinded by your loyalty which is not being repayed by KONAMI) are listening to their consumers and producing quality items that represent what their fans want. I can hear another WENB 'told you so' coming on after another disappointing release.

Rant over.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

yeh just listened to the podcast... all hope is lost for any objective impressions which plays right in konami's hands. genius really (from konami).

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

OPM wil play the game also this week, full PES2010 info in the new issue of OPM in July

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

let me guess. The game will be "fluid" and "smooth" to the point where it blows everyone away according to Adam and Suff. I'm sorry but WENB lost all credibility last year after 2 consecutive years of over-hyping and twisting the truth. The other day I read that they actually would like to take credit for the sales of PES 08 and 09 given that a lot of their fans went to buy the game blindly.

Unless Konami developed the new engine they have been promising us the past two years, I dont see Konami ever coming back even if they re-released PES5 with HD graphics. The standard has changed and EA are raising the bar even higher.

If there is people blindly optimistic, you're blindly pessimistic

This is why Konami didn't chose evo web for they feedback campaign

torres_1.jpg

Torres looks incredible in the new screenshot, lovely detail.

* Enhanced Realism: PES 2010 delivers a pace of game in tune with football played at the highest level. Triangulation of passes and use of off-the-ball runs are key to breaking down the opposition, forcing the player to use the strengths of their team mates to create scoring opportunities. Gone are ‘soft’ goals that can be used to break the deadlock; instead, only working the channels and the precision play expected of great players will make a difference.

* Player Characteristics: Key skills of the many players have now been attributed names, allowing users to incorporate them into their play strategy. Cover star Torres, for instance, is renowned for his ability to receive a pass in the penalty area, and to drop the ball to a teammate in a good position for a goal-scoring opportunity. As such, he is labeled a ‘Fox in the Box’ and Goal Poacher’, in line with his prowess in both scoring and setting up goals. Player characteristics are more vividly reproduced by these names.

* Instant Tactical Switching: Konami has already unveiled its new tactical bar system related to PES 2010’s attacking and defensive elements, but can now reveal additional information. Each team has unique settings matching their real-life playing styles. Torres at Liverpool, for instance, will recreate the Merseyside club’s sophisticated play and high numbers in attack, their pressing from midfield, strong defensive line, and width across the pitch. For the offense, the default settings support wide attacks and the aim to move in the back of the opponent’s defense line. The user can summon the bar instantly during a match to adjust team tactics to enhance their defence or strengthen attacks.

I like this information from the press release, still no proper news about ML but there's still time for that. Perhaps someone has an exclusive or their waiting for GamesCon.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

tobi, that info is actually very promising. All that they mentioned before meant shite to me, but this is actually pretty good, you know, with each team and player having their own playing style.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well lads we all know we need to see the game in action....pretty pictures mean nothing in the age of photoshop...

Anyway pes2008 was a "beauty in motion" according to WENB, I must have bought a different game as it looked more like a "Beast" to my eyes...

I bet my 2 cents they will be saying they played an early built, a 2% completed and that it plays like the old ones, smooth and brilliant and that there are tons of things they can't say and bla bla bla....

Now we one fact for sure: there is no new engine, that's just enough for not making me buy the game unless they have done something stunning with their current engine.

But Yes, i am sure of one ting as i said many times before:

"LAG IS OFFICIALLY LICENSED AND IT IS AN EXCLUSIVE FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE INTERNET..."

They'll never fix their on line issues...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

more from WENB

* Master League: The Master League now incorporates both the Champions League and Europa Leagues in its content, offering a complete season for players to enjoy. Success in the Master League will see players streamed into these competitions. The lure of European football can also be used to attract stronger players to your side, with transfer dealings and contracts now significantly more realistic in their use.

* Commentary: PES 2010 reunites Jon Champion and Mark Lawrenson in the game’s virtual commentary box, but in a more effective way than before. The commentary is now more tied to the action, with comments detailing player ability, significant match history and analysis, within a more concise and detailed delivery designed to mimic the presentation of games.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Does that mean you can play ML with real players only? I never bothered more than a couple of matches with ML because of the unrealistic nature of the league teams with fake players and all that fantasy arcade crap.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Nice image of Torres, I'm all crossed hoping we have a full domestic league structure given they have included the champions league and European league, otherwise what's the point in having European cup competitions if you're playing in an inter European league already...

That must be the case

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I hope there's a lot more done to the game (well the game modes), and a lot more teams added, but I don't think there will be.

Those graphics though... Best ever graphics in a football game?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I hope they have had the sense to add other teams to the Europa League like Hearts,Dinamo Bucharest, AEK Athens etc

Fernando Torres signs for PES 2010

Liverpool and Spain striker joins Lionel Messi as the face of PES 2010, as Konami lifts lid on even more gameplay advances

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that Liverpool FC and Spanish international striker Fernando Torres is to join Lionel Messi as the cover stars of PES 2010.

Torres, 25, has enjoyed an incredibly successful season both at club and international level, and will now join UEFA Champions League winner Messi on the front of PES 2010’s packaging and marketing materials. Fernando Torres was born in Madrid in 1984, and gained acclaim by helping Spain win the Under 16 UEFA European Championships in 2001 scoring the only goal in the final against France. His pace and prowess in front of goal saw him signed by Atlético de Madrid as an 11-year-old, making his mark in the first team from the age of 17 and scoring 82 goals in 214 league appearances for the club. This form took him to Liverpool for a £26m fee in 2007, where his prolific strike rate has continued and has seen him cement his place in the senior Spanish national squad. Torres was a pivotal figure in Spain’s successful EURO 2008 campaign where he again scored the only goal in the final against Germany.

“Everyone knows that when it comes to football simulation, Konami’s PES series is by far the most realistic title available,” commented Torres. “The new game looks absolutely stunning, and I look forward to seeing myself in action in PES 2010.” “Fernando Torres has established himself as one of the most exciting strikers in the game,” added Jon Murphy, PES European Team Leader. “He encapsulates everything that is good about the modern game, showcasing both pace, skill and vision – three elements that play a major part in PES 2010 as a football simulation.”

In addition to the announcement of Torres’ involvement, Konami has also unveiled key new additions to PES 2010’s content:

* Enhanced Realism: PES 2010 delivers a pace of game in tune with football played at the highest level. Triangulation of passes and use of off-the-ball runs are key to breaking down the opposition, forcing the player to use the strengths of their team mates to create scoring opportunities. Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm all crossed hoping we have a full domestic league structure given they have included the champions league and European league, otherwise what's the point in having European cup competitions if you're playing in an inter European league already...

I've always wanted the option of choosing how many teams YOU want to put in Div 1 and Div 2. eg a 10 team Div 1 and 10 team Div 2 (all Prem/La Liga/Serie A).

On the subject of the CL/Europa League in ML, i wonder if they have tweaked the terms for qualification. It would also be nice to see players receiving bans after accumilating 'x' amount of yellow cards (eg 5 in the Premier League). Also, restricting your subs bench to say 7? not another entire team. I'm still talking ML here, not international cups. Simple stuff Konami, simple stuff, but it helps go a long way in terms of gameplay.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

really, really need to see this in motion. PES07 looked sick in close-ups too (i should know. i was taking screens for forums back then).

also remember that other "team tactic" they promised us? i swear that never made it into the game. i'll be convinced if i see gameplay footage of triangular passing through the central part of the pitch (build-up play).

maybe we'll see that late next month.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Those graphics though... Best ever graphics in a football game?

It blows Fifa out of the water from what I've seen so far. If this is the graphical quality across the board then it will stand-up well against the benchmark titles like NBA2K9.

But PES has always looked pretty decent close up. I want to see this game from the wide camera and preferably moving. Then we can really judge this game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'd nearly guarantee that Torres shot is a render from the Intro. Especially given the announcement he has signed as one of the "faces" of the game...

Here's hoping I'm wrong though, but it just looks too good to be true. Although he could look that good and then run like he has a broom up his arse and use 5 year old animations (to be kind ;) ) to move around. In true Konami style!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

They swore the Messi shot was in-game and that was just as impressive wasn't it? They knew people would scream "render" so the guy explained that he was testing the game and took a "random screenshot" or something like that. Call me gullible (the word gullible isn't in the dictionary by the way, did you know that?) but I think it's a real shot.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yeah, the ears and kit collar kinda make me fee similarly, but ya never know :)

I'm hoping they pull the finger out good and proper this year, I'd love a decentt PES game again, when it's done properly it blows Fifa out of the water, no other game has the same draw that it has, be it single player or multiplayer. It just needs to sort itself out. One thing I never do is trust anyone elses opinion on it, because everyone see's the game differently. Well ok there are a couple of people whose views I trust but otherwise you're all talking shite. :D ;)

I just want the game engine to work properly again and deliver the magic WE/PES used to. No more robots Konami, fluid animations is all the game really needs to grab me back in again, even with the other faults it has always had.
