IMHO the DESIGNER of that model and of many others in FIFA09 should be executed on spot....having such an insane rendering engine and producing such appaling results... :CONFUSE:

WENB: Konami Responds to Community Concerns said:
First things first, lets get any incorrect perceptions about the picture out of the way. I’ve been reading some posts in forums around the world, and some less informed think the Messi screenshot is actually a render. The picture is, in simple terms, a screen grab. Along with WENB, the official PES blog posted the screen on its site. It was supposed to represent a member of the team in the development office taking an actual shot of the game and posting it up for the fans. No photoshopping, no picture enhancing, just a straight forward screen grab. The message is a simple one - Konami have nothing to hide.

Onto the header of the post. The quality of the Barcelona emblem has many people wondering whether it’s just the faces that are getting the true next-gen treatment. The answer comes down to the development timeline, and scheduling certain aspects of the game by importance. The kits as a whole are worked on instantly, but the extra detail (badges, numbers etc) is put on last. Therefore the actual emblem in the screenshot is technically called a placeholder - something that’s there while they work on other things. The final quality of the kits will match the incredible quality of Messi’s face.

For a few that particular news will be most important, but most will see the bigger picture. For Konami to come out and respond to minor criticism in a screen shows a massive shift of emphasis, and their undying commitment to the community. In the the grand scheme of things, that is the real news.

Third bolded paragraph I wholheartedly agree, and it's about f*cking time too!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It's great having Konami being more proactively in regards to the community, but can you imagine being the guy assigned with dealing with us lot?

I mean, I can only barely get through this thread on some days and all I do is sit back and take the piss.

Imagine having to compile a list of fans concerns, to which you then find yourself talking through with your manager. Your eyes scrolling through the list, genuine concerns interspersed between inane shite. You think the worst is over, with your dignity relatively intact, until you glance at the final bullet point.

Sweat drips down your face, contemplating how many drinks this'll take to forget.

There's no escaping it.

"And finally..." You mutter

"EARS."

Yes, I'm fearful that if Konami ask for feedback all the decent suggestions will be drowned out by people demanding real-time cloth physics, realistic hair movement and "nextgen graphics".

Exactly. I'd much rather see the gameplay flaws addressed first, such as the stupidity of a computer player getting to a free ball before my player (who is closer to the ball) only because my guy is jogging on the spot. Or defenders running away from strikers, in or around the box, etc etc. There are a good few of them. Give me this over assignable nose hair any day, thank you.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

thats the thing, most PES fans all care about untucked shirts and bloody goal nets. seriously who gives a fuck about that when the gameplay is bloody shit?

focus on gameplay and add those useless features later!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well, realistic goal nets are not useless, but gameplay is priority 1!

A new input by John Murphy from the Konami blog:

PES 2010
My first go at PES2010!

Back from Japan with nasty food poisoning but no bad taste in my mouth after I played the new PES!

000327389.jpg

As a die-hard fan I am happy to report that 2010 is looking really promising. I was treated to some demos of what the new lighting, textures and animations are like and in my humble opinion the changes really made a big difference. Check out the first screenshot for yourself.

000327393.jpg

I got to see changes to the team first hand. Numbers have swelled and the WEP development area is now buzzing. I was also treated to a look at the newly formed "future development" department, but that is all very hush hush. Good to see the team really thinking about PES years from now.

000327391.jpg

Seabass was also kind enough to give me a first hands-on with the gameplay, which is at a really early stage. It is going in the right direction for fans. Goals are harder to score, with less down to luck or mistakes. Support for the man with the ball is also better. I really like what they are doing with penalties and strategies too. So much I could talk about, but I want to keep my job. Finally, to all those with eagle eyes who spotted something on my screen during my last blog...can't say much more at the moment. We've already said the fan will be our focus this year and into the future. Hope to start proving that shortly.

Very promising things in there :)

I know Konami did read this forum in the past. I remember posting something new I got from a Konami representative three years ago and within an hour after posting I got a mail that I should not post it overhere!

I don't think Konami still reads things on EVO-web anymore.
There have been so many childish posts overhere and most of those for the sake of negativeness.
I agree PES 2008 and PES 2009 were way below the level you should expect and I was annoyed as well about it.
There is a difference though between critisism and negativism and yes I try to imagine how some people overhere would treat a Konami-representative on this board.

The WENB forum is the counterpart of EVO-web; People overthere are usually over-positive, like people here are over-negative.
It is no wonder that Konami decided to read and react on the posts on the WENB-forum.
I agree that people on that forum should be a little more critical, but you have to admit that their way of approaching things work for them, according to the REAL contacts with Konami ;)
So, in other words: Do you want news? Then the EVO-web community have missed their chance with this general negative attitude.

I'd rather tell it like it is than kiss ass TBH, Adam is trying to make strong ties with Konami and that's fine, their softly softly approach does grate at times, trying to always see Konami's side.
I don't think Evo has ever gone or will go down that route, sure a lot of stuff in here is said in jest and should be taken with a pinch of salt, but guys on here have been playing PES since the beginning and the mod's are fantastic in making PES far better than anything Konami have ever come out with...
This is more a community than a one company fan base...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Can't really blame them tbh Han. Konami won them way back when, then lost them. Hopefully this year things get back on track. Fans would see the light again and have high hopes.

Lets sit back and wait for the E3..

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

There is a Konami PR guy on the WENB boards, which IMO , is a nice addition and could prove to be very helpful indeed.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I played a spot of WE10 last night and good lord. It was like putting on my favourite pair of slippers.

It's fun, the shooting is right and the players seem to move with freedom. It's perhaps the only PES version where the auto-feint actually works every now and then. I know that looking back 3/4 years doesn't sound all that attractive but goddamn, that game is brilliant. It felt as if it was the first time I had played a proper football game in years.

So yeah, make this game again, remove all of the bugs, throw in a load of animations, tweak the gameplay a bunch and give it the next gen polish without breaking it.

I can't see this guy coming over here.

"PM: Important PES 2010 news

Although it would be worth a gander here and gauge the feelings of the flock that has begun to stray rather than the folks who are going to buy it anyhoot.

Has it been confirmed that PES will actually be at E3?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

itsmepo's post is exactly the kind of post I ment in my post #679...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yeah but there's not much you can do about it.

I'm not on the WENB forums and I don't visit the site all that much but I appreciate that they have been a blessing to the community. Unfortunately people have it in their heads that they are 100% behind Konami and are purely there to preach to the masses.

First off, it's a PES blog, what do you expect? If people are going to dedicate their free time to something on that scale, then of course they are going to have some level of affection for the game. What matters is that they don't see everything through rose-tinted specs, and they don't.

I'm evo-web forever though. My taking the piss is now a staple of PES build ups.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I hope PES 2010 recaptures the magic of the old games as we have been badly let down with the last two versions. Konami and Seabass need to do a lot with PES 2010 to regain that trust.

Fix the Gameplay and Online, that should be the mission statement, dynamic lighting and pretty visuals won't mean anything if the gameplay still sucks. I think this time with the extra resources PES will be back to its former glory.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

As always, WENB makes you feel everything is perfect just before the game is released, and after that they criticize it and close the site and turn back to fifa, they are like double agents, craving money from both sides, cheap fucks.

:FAIL:

You're my favorite poster here. This is all I want from a new pes, not a bunch of interns trying to create a footbal game from scratch (pes2008 and pes2009 seem like that), but for seabass and old ps2 team to grab a build of the best of those ps2 games, and give it the next gen HD treatment, plus new animations modes and tweaks of course.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Have to agree about WENB and their continuing mendacity over the years. We all know about Adam's desire to work for/with Konami. WENB is a classic case of Astroturfing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing

And as for being positive why? If Konami produce substandard products why should ANYONE put up with it? Another thing I dislike about WENB is the fanboyish atmosphere and comments policy - there is more critical discussion on PESFAN for goodness sake!

Anyway these is a really interesting article from the Operation Sports Website on the future of football gaming.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm my favourite poster here too. Not only am I brilliant, I'm awesome at PES as well as right about everything.

WE10 is starting to consume too much of my time though. Got a 3 hour exam tomorrow but all I'm thinking about is whether or not Zico will be fit enough for the final and whether or not Real will stick their shortest players in the wall like last time, where Zico scored a hatrick of free kicks.

Speaking of which, the freekicks are actually perfect in WE10. They are NOT too easy, even if you develop a technique. If you want the ball to go exactly where you want it to, then you have to be so precise it is unreal, but it is achievable. Bring these back and you've won me over.
