PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Am I the only one who thinks that the Master League bit is the same bit they say every year? Nick will back me up here, every year they say it's enhanced and in the end it's a screen that gives you "interview snippets with your players" or something equally unimportant.

I don't think the ML will be significantly different looking at that - everything else has good specific details (e.g. how they say simulation so often, thank God, and how they mention things like the reaction times and the referees).

Yep it's the same every time Chris, I doubt it will change unless the production team change...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I hope they bring back R2 dribbling.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the Be a Legend thing, perhaps one of the few saving graces from 2009.

Master League, eh. I think I managed to wean myself off of it with WE10 when I had a strikeforce of Rooney, Zico and Brian Laudrup with my sole goal being to see which one of them would reach 1,000 goals first.

Safe to say that my brain oozed out of my ear and pooled on the floor (not before getting them all to 400+ goals, hell yeah)

Ever since I scooped it back in, I haven't been all that jazzed about ML. If I can't set myself some ridiculous goal and have a player like Zico to make it somewhat attainable.

Ok. I think all I want from the next PES is Zico to have the god ability. I know some of you harp on about Zidane and other such players how you could never get them off the ball. But me and Zico (I often use that phrase <3) were something special. If we had the ball you just let us play, end of.

Therefore it's sad to say that PES has seemingly gone out of it's way to make freekicks a lucky dip affair. If I get the EXACT same power and place the EXACT same level of curl whilst aiming at the precise location of the gap between 2 heads then I should be rewarded.

If I aim a free kick to bend around the wall and go in just inside the post, I do not want to see the player waddle up to the ball Peter Kay style and hoof it, a good 3 feet over the middle of the wall to have it end up 10 feet above the middle of the goal.

It's as if I'm trying to introduce finesse to a Burger King.

I'm not than anal about most things PES, but freekicks are where precise accuracy and nerdy physics come into play.

I often dream about scoring the perfect freekick. Striking a ball with power, round/just over the wall and have it curl beautifully into the top corner. When I pulled these off in PES games of old, my heart shed a tear, and when they went in off the bar, the entered my memory card.

Oh ah. Another thing is post/crossbar interaction. The ball needs to be able to hit the bar, bounce over the line and come back out. It just has to. That is how physics works. I know, hurr lammo giving it the big one about physics in PES, but a ball and a crossbar doesn't bring with it the complexities of two players sliding in for a ball.

Also make Portsmouth good please. Every single Pomp incarnation in PES has been hillariously shite as if we have offended the glorious nippon without realising.

Richard Hughes is not better than Niko Kranjcar.

I mean god damn, even the team that won the FA Cup was just a couple of players better than the Wigan's, Sunderland's and all those types.

Also about the engine. Eh again. If your car is dodgy you don't drive the thing into a moat and get a new one. The current game is dated by certain factors like poor animations, ball physics and modes. All of which can be rectified by a bit of work.

A new engine will require a good couple of years to get to where we are at now with 2009, so no thanks. Let's see if they can pull something out of the hat here, if not, and it becomes apparent that they are furiously polishing a turd, then I'm sure that this'll be the end of it.

Saying that though, PES 2010 sounds a bit like Brawn GP. They've been working it for a while (hurr honda gave up on their 2008 car) and who knows what they're going to produce come November.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

They say the same thing every year.

But, maybe, they might be telling the truth slightly more this year.

I reckon they have improve PES on next gen platforms this year or Fifa is going to start and leave them behind in way of sales and then it will start getting way too late to catch them in future years.

Each year I have edited the game to get it how I like it. PES2008 took ages and still didnt feel right, PES2009, ended up taking me a month or so to sort out, but once I did it, I still play on it a lot.

Hopefully, this years won't need as much editing.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Portsmouth players are weirdly rated on my PES, Badger. Utaka is some sort of god for some reason. Glen Johnson has the worst stats in the world. Then you had Defoe who was some sort of goalscoring god with 90+ agility before he left for spurs. Konami love overrating the England national team players (besides glen johnson it seems).

Bit off topic but harmless fun

I remember you mentioning Zico and his free kicks last year. Is he your favourite classic player? Mine would be Baresi.

My still main concern is still in-direct free kicks. Not realistic or accurate enough for me.

It's almost as if they got a Southampton fan to rate our team because nothing is stranger for me as a Pomp fan to pick Utaka ahead of Johnson.

Utaka is terrible, he must have a strong Asian following.

The only player they have properly rated was Benjani. He was a brick shithouse and played like one too. Infact, the entire team in PES 2008 was comprised of shithouses that I used to bully anyone who picked Barca online, much to their annoyance.

Good times.

Diarra was really underated too I thought. The fact hes playing at Real Madrid now will give Konami a reason to add +10 to all his stats.

My mate used to have this tactic on the old PES's where he would stick Sol campbell up front for the last part of the game to get a goal. It actually worked quite well because he used to have around 93/94 body balance and 96 shot power or something crazy. It was like trying to tackle a brick wall. When he did score with him to win the game I just had to laugh :[

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Hello Badger and nice to see you back :)

Well now that you have a Mac I'm guessing we'll see more of your classic paintings ;)

You can see the PES 2009 Wii PK system here:

http://winningelevenblog.com/blog/pes-2009-wii-video-shows-off-new-pk-system/

not good for me, only if it come with a GUN so we can ridicously aim where to shoot like that wii version! it will only be good if there is no aim at all, like FIFA. penalty system in fifa is perfect for me, so Konami could simply copy that!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm quite optimistic about PES this year. It's do or die time for Konami and that's why I think they will pull something out of the bag this year. Konami are lucky to have such a strong fan base that are willing to give them a third chance after two abysmal releases, and that's why I can't turn my back on PES completely. Too many good times with the game.

Fifa is only a few tweaks away from crushing PES completely, so the pressure is on. I think the 200 extra staff at Konami can only be a good thing. They may only be there to add the visual fluff to the game, such as animations, that will help drag PES kicking and screaming into the 'next-gen' era, hopefully leaving Seabass and his team to work their magic on the gameplay.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The ML revamp is a good thing too.

To be honest, they don't give you much info about the ML. It says...

Enhanced Master League: "Master League has been thoroughly renewed with the enhancement of managerial aspects, which enables users to enjoy managing a team for a longer career lifespan. Seen by many as a key contributor to the series' success, the Master League elements in PES 2010 have been bolstered by far-ranging and vital new additions, dedicated to enriching the mode."

It sounds good and all, but i was hoping to hear about more divisions/leagues and teams added to the ML. I think that's one of the important thing the ML needs. It need more divisions/leagues, instead of that limited division bullshit they've had on the previous PES games.

Anyone realize they're way too early with the press release this time? Seems like they're leaking confidence..

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

finally Konami has spoken! and "target" 10 vs 10 is real, we can have this one day in Pes. And will the Master League be completely different Like fifa manager?

I hope so Thiago. Well not exactly like Fifa but i'm hoping for something different, atleast an indepth managerial mode.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I also hope Lami. But unfortunately I have no ps3 only ps2. But my cousin has the X-Box360, and I can give all the possible news. Some information on the situation in playstaion 2 console? or will things be the same of 2009?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Messi is the best player in the world, its a no brainier to have him on the cover again.

The fact it's still being touted as the ML fills me with dread...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think what we're seeing here is the 'recalibration' of expectation - we're all used to Pro Evo not blowing our minds having had 2 years of mediocrity and now we're all expecting something good but not amazing, meaning it'll take less this year to make us happy than it ever has.

And yeah - the Braun theory could hold some water. Personally, I think people have been blinded by what is a 'technically' impressive Fifa but, IMO, Fifa is still not as 'fun' as PES, even if PES is now the more basic game.

PES' core engine is still miles better than that of Fifa, but Fifa have developed far far more functionality around their core engine to hide this fact - ball physics, collision detection and computer AI are what make up the 'core' engine (in my definition) and I still believe that PES is still winning these battles but have lost the fans by not 'changing enough stuff' over the years.

I'm interested in PES 2010 as, much like how PES 3 took the series up a gear on the PS2, the 3rd iteration on the PS3 will be looking to emulate this success all those years ago...

i disagree. the ball physics, animations, sound, graphics,Game modes,Licencing and AI are all bad in PES games now

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Or they were just bored and wanted to start the fanboy wars early ;)

Oh Badgerman, Ive missed you this past year!! Mainly because Ive had no wish to enter this part of the forums. I'll probably recede back to where I came from but it was great to read your posts again!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Hey Chaps,

Not been on Evo Web for months. Great to see that the usual crowd are posting again and the excitement is building already!

I think it all sounds very promising but I'm reserving judgement with all the Teamvision 2 pish etc. Heard it all before!

Harsh comments to ThomasGoal- not too sure how accurate his info has been over the last couple of years tbh but his comments are always an intersting read so keep it up the good work Thomas.

Re the penalties- someone mentined the N64 ISS method and criticised it I think. I actually thought it was a great system- at least there was some skill and technique to taking them. Great how the accuracy boxes were smaller for the better players and you could turn off the indicator to try and fool your opponent. Better than the PES method of hitting down-left and shoot for instance, hoping you're not unlucky enough for your man to put it wide.

I think the control system needs to be changed a little for the PS3 version as the R2 and L2 triggers don't work well at all- they take too long to fully depress with their trigger functionality being irrelevant. Reckon they could be utilised for manual passing power perhaps or alternatively, if the status quo, any depression whatsover should register rather then the whole depression being needed. I just never used them in PES2009 at all. Also, I hated how the tricks were no longer on the right joypad- never grasped them in PES2009 at all.

Never been a great poster on the forum guys but always an interested reader- keep it up!! Getting excited about this new version.

Cheers

Neil

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

If they didnt include a new gameplay engine I really hope they went back to the ps2 games, and worked on this new one from there. Just forget 2008 and 2009 ever existed.. burn every hard drive or disc including builds from those games.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The fact it's still being touted as the ML fills me with dread...

That's a good point, assuming that ML is just going to get minor tweaks like 2009 did with 2008 means that KONAMI is really going to have to deliver on the gameplay front and throw out the 2008/2009 system, it's way too dated and it seems like an imitation of rather than an actual improvement of the PES 4/5/6 engine. Let's hope they don't f*ck than fans in their ears again...

LOL, I just read this after I posted:

Let's see if everybody can get this and determine whether or not they want to buy PES 2010 next year.
