PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PC)

Your videos made me remember old rumors that PES AI depended on certain PC and was different for every player. Because I've never experienced such fails (except infamous low crosses). But I play tournaments and leagues mostly.
Same here. I only play tournaments and leagues and always felt that PES 2019 on the pitch was fine. The only problem for me is that in the menus and throughout a season, the interface couldn't possibly be more boring. No stories, no news items. And that's ok for the most part, but it just starts to feel like a string of exhibition games. But other than that, PES2019 is one of the best games, with 2021 being the best PES, to me, in the series.

Think the worst part is how good it feels when playing an exhibition game, then boot up a ML with edits and it all falls apart.
Needless to say, just did that.
Argentinos Juniors in the Argentinian League

I hate not knowing if I did everything I could to make this AI play half decent so I'm going to be trying a dozen or so different modded dt18s as well as a couple exe's and see if anything works. Fingers crossed.

Vanilla yesterday for me, not good.
Ai felt like a modern Fifa game just attack attack.
If you find a result, let us know buddy

I'm currently playing with Neuchatel Xamax in the Swiss Master League. The players have their chemistry set to ‘Superstar Difficulty’ this season. I'm winning a lot more games at the moment, but because they're always very close, I'm in an incredible flow in every game.

The gameplay is really addictive, and I absolutely have to reduce my wage costs by the end of the year.

I'm having soooooo much fun :BOP:

How do you find it compared to 21?

Good question. I've played all PC versions of PES since PES 2013-2021 repeatedly this year.

In my opinion, the following points are what make PES2019 my favourite:

- The graphics are more beautiful thanks to the colours. The beautiful yellow of the sunset also helps.

- For me, the gameplay is very well described by one player: Ronaldinho. The gameplay is a good mix between simulation and a bit of arcade.

- The game conveys the spirit of the beautiful game.

- The matches can also be played on Superstar in 10-12 minute games (in 2021, too few goals are scored in 10-12 minutes).

Important: my opinion is based on the vanilla versions and on the game speed +1 because +0 is too slow for me.

Why are you asking?
What is your opinion?

It's a good thing this game wasnt the last pes offline game, otherwise people would ask how to bring back 2nd div to italian & spanish league. Konami BS their way saying there's no space for the game only to bring more leagues in 20, lol

Game looks are good and the ai play very nice sometimes. Not as good as 17 but it has it moments. Too bad the unfixable low crosses ai killed it.

Wasn't the AI improved in patches? I've only played the unpatched game but I've heard the patches fix the game.

You can still see some changelogs online but they damn sure didnt fix low crosses ai, cause it's still there eventhough final patch is installed, lol

I've been really appreciating 2019 lately (doing an on and off ML with it at the moment). I think on the ball it is totally ace, the absolute best compromise between the hyper responsive and not very physical 2018, and 20/21 that are of course very slow and plenty of physical battles (not that I dislike it, I think that depending on the mood they can all be good/entertaining enough). The atmosphere is also really nice with both the colours and the stadiums they used (it's perhaps the only title I can't even play with custom stadiums as, at least the one I proved, differ to much from the base ones).

I find IA unfortunately somehow weird on vanilla, from 18 onwards Konami developed CPU more with the idea of making a challenging "robot" than trying to imitate how an human would play and I think 2019 was the peak of this direction, but with the DT18 I'm using I'm getting high crosses (even if low ones are still there), long shots, some dribbling here and there and a bit more of a build up.. so, even if it's still not ideal, the variety is decent.

As far as I know, the low cross AI has been adjusted in the changelogs.

I think the AI plays very varied in defence and also in attack. I really like that. I have learned to defend against the low cross problem. The key is to intercept the low cross pass with clever positioning and, in extreme cases, let also CPU defender press. I sometimes concede a goal like this, but writing off the game because of it is a fatal mistake.

In comparison, I find the simple pass to the centre forward and direct shot in PES2021 much more annoying because it is extremely difficult to defend against.

For me, PES2019 is the pinnacle of the football games I've been playing since around 1993. And I've played a lot of them.
PES2019, with its motto ‘The Power of Football’, is the highlight that I, as a football romantic, needed before everything in football games went to shit.

You know guys, coincidentally, I've been really enjoying PES 2019 ATM as well! :TU: The game looks gorgeous (I think the best looking PES out there, the pitches and the clothing are absolutely fantastic), the ball physics are really nice, and the game overall in terms of playability I've found it very refreshing. The only thing I had with Vanilla AI was that it always seemed to me like "CPU Momentum" was really overpowered, but I've also found that the extensive gameplay modding community has some really good mods that address this.

Also, one thing I wanted to ask is: the "Classic" vs "Challenge" mode in Master League. Have you guys tried the "Challenge" mode, and if so, have you found it realistic? Cheers!

@millossobek

You can definitely feel the CPU momentum. However, the CPU sometimes needs it to keep the games exciting. In the Master League on Superstar, after a 3-1 lead, the CPU momentum strikes a little too often to make it 3-2, I think.

I'm currently playing the Master League in ‘classic mode’. However, this is simply because I don't want to get fired if I have poorer results. I'm more concerned about not losing the hours I've invested in the team so quickly. I play with Neuchatel Xamax in the Swiss league.

However, I've noticed that with a 70-80 (2-3 players are 80) player strength squad, I dominate the league, have to play Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 and am in the national cup final. This is my 3rd Season before i only won 1 swiss cup finisht 2x second. Im in January and 24 Points ahead of the secon in swiss league.

@All
The Master League seems to be easier on Superstar than in League mode -> Have you had the same experience?

I was sacked both times I did try it.. I think it's very hardcore Indeed 🙂

I’ve recently started to get a bit interested in PES 2019. I used to play it on PS4 back in the day, and as far as I remember, I enjoyed it.

However, it seems nearly impossible to get hold of the PC version today. The game is being sold for several hundred dollars, which is obviously out of the question. Is there any legal way, or any other way, to get the game today?

I’d also appreciate tips on gameplay mods and other patches that enhance the experience.

Also, how do you think pes 2019 compare to 2021?

You can download the "illegal" version of PES 2019 from torrents.

PES 2019 graphically peak in my opinion. Day-Night matches was perfect. Lighting was the best. Gameplay was also very good. Passes, shoots, responsiveness was perfect.

Just look at this in game ss. Any other game couldn't even get close to this look.

I don't know if any of you noticed this before but i think they removed or lowered motion blur and dept of field effects after PES 2019. If you look carefully PES 2019 and PES 2020/21 replays, you will notice PES 2019 have much more realistic motion blur and dept of field effects.

It's true they removed DoF & blur thingy in 20/21 replay. Funny thing is both option existed in 20/21 graphic settings.

I have a lot of mods for fl25.... And pes19 is still much better. You have summarized everything. Graphics. Playable. Etc. It's a shame that the mod adaptation is complex. Stadium etc.... Even if there are modders who are progressing well.
