PES 2018 vs 2019 vs 2020 vs 2021?

Pes 2018 for me. I just can't play anything else. Pes 2019 has great graphics, but it gets boring after 2 or 3 weeks.. After having played 2021 for a long time, i felt the urge to go back to 2018 and it's unbelievable how good it still is.. This is peak Pro Evo for me.. I just wish there was a complete patch for this game on PC..

playing against cpu in ML is really annoying

I play o superstar difficulty, and yes, sometimes it can be a little bit frustrating, especially when fatigue starts accumulating.. But it's not as bad as 2021 IMHO.. One thing i learned is that you should always stay calm, and use manual control to close lines instead of chasing the ball carrier..
 
It allows me to open the game, then get into the loading of a match, but it never allows me to actually kick off

Well if you have steam version then yes, there's a guide on google or yt how to downgrade game version via steam app

I spent a few weeks trying to find the best Fox Engine PES. I've played almost every title since 1995, including the Japanese Winning Eleven. The simulation in 2020 or 2021 is super successful as a football simulation feels more like work but this is also very rewarding. However, I bought an Steam key for PES2019 because I only had it for the PS4 and hadn't played that much.

My opinion :

PES2019 (vanilla gameplay Version 1.06.00 Datapack 6.00) is the perfect mix of simulation and arcade.

- AI plays extremely varied (crosses, through balls, short passes, combinations)
-> Like a human player
- 10 minute matches are full of highlights
- The CPU occasionally fouls under pressure
- The graphics are nice, but I had to get used to them at first
- The CPU moves can also fascinate me when I concede goals
- The game feels rewarding to execute beautiful moves/combinations and make me feel like a world star
- Player skills count when you play against a second division team, you can feel that you are playing the favourite. The same applies when I play a weaker team, I can feel the difference to a top team.

The game is ‘the beautiful game’ like an art -> It's Ronaldinho

PS: I probably don't have to write that I am NOT satisfied with the development of football games since 2022, neither with Efootball, EA FC, UFL and Goals.

After a lot of testing I found that the most realistic iteration of pes 2019 is vanilla gameplay version 1.05.00 datapack 5.00. It's a bit slower compared to version 1.06.00 but the players feel weighter, the dribbling is extremely satisfying, the passing is well weighted, shots and headers feel more powerful.

I do wonder though since i've been using a copy of the game, it came with the original datapack 2.0 along with its dt 18. Did Konami use to update the dt 18 with the release of the new datapack? Because if that is the case, as much as the gameplay changes are evident, would it mean there's something i'm lacking since the dt 18 is different from the datapack 5.0 version?

That's unfortunate, but I guess it happens. I'd still like to try out the pes 18 gameplay but can't get it working. I think the original dt 18 might be enough, but that's also hard to find.
