PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

I just had a weird idea, why don't Konami buy the rights to clubs old defunct stadiums like Highbury? I'd imagine EA don't have those rights anymore. They could probably be purchased cheaply as they don't exist anymore and if Konami leased the exclusive rights for 20+ years then EA can't steal them away like they did with the Spanish stadiums a few years ago.

They'd then be able to use the same stadium cad models for all future games and I think it would be a nostalgic selling point for a lot of fans.

They could even sell a retro stadium DLC pack like this...

Arsenal - Highbury
West Ham - Upton Park
Man City - Maine Road
West Ham - Upton Park
Juventus - Stadio delle Alpi
Ajax - De Meer
Southampton - The Dell
Lyon - Stade de Gerland

Cool idea, if we can have old retired players in myclub, and old jerseys, old stadiums would be a logical next addition.

Plus, why not this too. Classic teams: eg. 06 Liverpool, 99 MUFC, 01 Real M, 1970 Brazil etc etc. You get my point.
I mean come the f on Konami, you did nothing game changing to your game in years, and you keep losing stuff since PES 2014 (not counting the PES 2018 PC version which is the only plus in 5 years).
Do it before EA does it...before it's officially too late.

The only minor problem with your idea of classic stadiums which i see would be - they now use cameras and various techniques to bring the stadiums in game to almost photorealistic IRL level. With those stadiums not existing anymore, they would have to dig old pictures and model from scratch, which would be a bit harder, and would take more time.

Or why not recapture all stadiums from previous PES games which aren't licensed in FIFA now, make them HD/4k up to date, and release.

All great ideas...but meh...

Great idea

*Watches EA buys rights for every stadium ever existed*
Yeah, that's why I mentioned buying the stadium rights for at least 10-20+ years because we all know how EA are with this type of thing and if Konami put the time in to create these stadiums and then lost the rights like what happened with the La Liga stadiums which was probably a kick in the teeth for their team of stadium designers and a huge waste of resources and manpower it took to make them.

So Konami has to lock these licenses down at the first attempt which I'd imagine wouldn't be that hard as these old stadiums aren't making the rights holder any money at the moment so they'd more or less be getting money for nothing.

Just so you guys know, when the PES 2018 World Tour event was happening in Chile and the two new commentators for the country were announced, one of them leaked that the Estadio Monumental David Arellano (Colo-Colo's) was going to be available as DLC and got reprimanded by KONAMI representatives for saying that live lol. That might be the new stadium you guys were talking about.

I had exactly same idea, even more ! but I don't see Konami do it ...
I used to was thinking about a blur (or at least less visually sharpness) for that stadiums ! that include in the game in a new mode, calling "classic mode"
it's really easy too add some blur in the game for an special mode ...
there is a lot of idea that doesn't even need huge money and work ! but if they listen ...

...
I ask constantly on twitter to add broadcost camera to manual replays ... but they don't care.
it is really easy to add to game but have a big effect to enjoyment of watching replays !
how hard is that to do????? I guess it will take only some hour to add it !

Konami could concentrate on lesser leagues: South-African, Moroccan, Colombian, Ururguayan, Belgian, Danish, Scottish, Russian, Swedish,...

Good idea about classic club teams like Cruijff's Ajax, Van Hanegem's Feyenoord, Muhren's Ipswich, Brmner and Giles' Leeds Utd, the Lisbon lions, Beckenbauer and Muller's Bayern, Netzers's Borussia Mönchengladbach, Platini's Saint-Etienne, Eusebio's Benfica, the great River Plate team of the 40's....

Yeah, would love to play AC Milan vs Lazio with the teams from the 90's (Gullit, v Basten, Rijkaard, Maradona, Baresi, etc.). A full-blown classic mode would really suit the series.

We need to pitch this to Adam for sure.

And all we got so far is the brown leather football from that time... but it's a start. ;)

Exactly Gerd. . .I would love them to recreate the 1970. . '74. . '78 and '82 world cups with all the teams ,strips and players.

Oh please someone sends this to Konami!

Would be down with classic stadiums and teams but they would need to change the name of the game to PELS: Pro Evolution Legendary Soccer.

Look at 9:10, how is it not a penalty? ramgamer will be furious
Omg, see i told its still in the game, thats a clear penalty but no in konami books its not, feck this game, seriously feck this game and referee still not fixed..

No one has played final version yet

Lets not get to carried away as this will just turn into more argument

We will all have views on 30th when demo is out..then we can moan and groan if refs are still terrible

I still dont know what the moaning is about?
The no pen thing isnt a ref issue, its konamis programing to always (99 out of a 100) hit the ball first,no matter how small the touch is.
Remember 16?
Exactly the same, but in that game it applied all over the pitch.
Thats Whats needs fixing,not refs!
And that video being a 100% pen?
He falls on his ass in a 50/50 situation with the ball.
But like i said,it needs to be more reckless in the box, should be down to stats, bad tackler, bad angle=bigger chance for a pen

thats what it should be, it should be more reckless just like the other game man, feck....

Agree,bad defenders making bad decision.
Should be simple, love that in the other game.
Hate how the refs give red cards for nothing in the other game as well

What a absolutely cracking idea.

I thought Konami was on to something with their stadium editor. Had they kept developing that since it first came we'd able to make all kinds of stadiums now, and no one could be talking about copyrights and what have you. But doesn't seem to be happening.

When is the demo out? Wednesday?
