Boring seeing world class defenders look foolish. No fouls being called. But yeah...cool video.
That video was so incredible because in every scenario it looked exactly like that specific player would do in real life. I felt like I was watching a highlight tape from last season. That got me really excited to get my hand on a demo.
Out of interest, which ones would you say should be fouls? I saw your comment pre-watching the video so was expecting to see a bunch of them but there's was probably 1 or 2 max that could have been fouls, otherwise it seemed ok?Quite a few fouls in that Weedens video not given.
It happens though, remember Messi on Boateng? Or Hazard vs. 5 Arsenal players? Or Robben vs. Hummels in the CL final in 2013? World class defenders do get beaten by world class forwards. Besides, in that video it seemed a fairly even mix - Pique's strength with a few challenges was evident.Boring seeing world class defenders look foolish.

These types of videos are 50/50 pro-con for me.
On one hand we get to see how these moves work, on the other hand it makes it seem like all these skill moves are going to be easily pulled off time and time again. For example, last year with 2017, the videos I saw early on had a bunch of overhead kicks or bicycle kicks whatever you want to call them but when I got the game and played for all my time playing I may have encountered 5 or 6 overhead kicks. So the videos gave this illusion that those things happened ALL the time and were the norm. Weedons free kick video that came out all of sudden it was "free kicks are going to be so easy" meanwhile Weedons said his fails video would be long because the free kick system isn't as easy as it seems...but the illusion gives off that it is.
Matt, you are part of Footy United now make us proud and I def look forward to your videos!--but man reading your twitter timeline depresses the shit out of me haha
Whilst playing WE6I last night for the few hours of playing I saw flaws. But those flaws didn't take me out of the immersion and enjoyment. One example, big forums topic right now which I will bring up to Adam Bhatti on the podcast we are doing with him today (I'm a man of the people!) is the A.I. def positioning when having a front 3 consisting of two wingers and CF that they won't track back unless the ball is deep deep in your own final third. My very first game on WE6I last night I played as Barca vs Real Madrid. Barca had a front 3 of Kluivert, Overmars, and Saviola. They all stayed high up when the ball was in my final third. Maybe it's something I didn't recognize back then because the gameplay was so good and I was immersed in it that the flaws didn't bother me I don't know but I was surprised to see that.
Now I love these older games every one knows that!! WE6I & WE7I I still play today over any PS3 or PS4 version of PES so far. I think Konami can look back at these older games for inspiration but they weren't perfect by any stretch. We may look back now at PES5/6 as masterpieces but I also remember at the time becoming bored with those games as they didn't innovate from PES4 enough. Now that I'm older nostalgia obviously kicks in lol.
My point is no game is perfect and constructive criticism is always warranted for improving PES I give it all the time but dwelling on flaws too too much may limit your eventual enjoyment and I don't want to see that happen to you or anybody. A bunch of us have waited too too long for a decent PES gameIf I dwell on the flaws I saw in WE6I I'm sure it would limit my enjoyment but why would I want to do that when I'm having fun? Hopefully I'm making sense here..
I think the determining factor for these games such as PES is do the flaws take you out of the immersion or not? The flaws that bother me, may not bother you or someone else and vice versa.
I do wonder if youtube and social media was around back in those days what flaws people would find what criticisms would arise and how much harsher those older games would be judged...
This isn't an attack on you Matt by any stretch you know I got love for you and I know you love Trump and all which is fine whatever floats your boat. You are a coach and their are things that really bother you from what you see in videos, to each their own I'm not judging, believe me I have things I want to see improved and have OCD about like the tactics system and how it corresponds with A.I. limitations so I get it.
Maybe cause I'm older now and just want to a enjoy a good footy game that I'm ok with certain flaws as long as I'm immersed and enjoying the game.![]()
don't forget that Messi and Neymar have the skills to make world class defenders look average. youtube is your guideIn real life, even World Class defenders can make mistake however less frequently than an average defender. I think they need to really work on how stats affect a defender. That way, world class defender will be a nightmare to play against in PES 2018. Right now, an average defender from league 2 defend at the same level as a world class defender like Bonucci/Azpi/T.Silva/Ramos/Alderwield and it's super annoying.
Fouls won't be sorted. It's been shit for far too long.
Out of interest, which ones would you say should be fouls? I saw your comment pre-watching the video so was expecting to see a bunch of them but there's was probably 1 or 2 max that could have been fouls, otherwise it seemed ok?
So a video comes our about skills and defending compilations and people start highlighting no fouls.
If a video is made about goals you can't determine if the goalkeepers are weak.
Come on guys.
I fact let's ask weedens to make a video on fouls. If he has a free kick compilation he should have a fouls one am I right?
From 00:20 Pique on Carrasco, then straight after that Sergi Roberto on Firmino. Then at 00:56, Godin on Firmino looks a foul, and 1:02 Matip on Gabriel Jesus.
I know it might seem nit-picky, and some will no doubt argue that these incidents aren't fouls, but after previous years lack of fouls, I would've thought the new body contact/shielding system would mean more fouls coming from the increased body contact. With a defender you should be punished if you come in too strong at the wrong angle and at the wrong time (also should apply to the AI).
No.
A bit more questionable but still probably a nope.
Yes.
Literally 95% of the time that will not be called a foul.
Edit: I get your point though, they probably still won't fix fouls
If you look carefully there is one foul called though, the referee gives the advantage during one of the actions. At 1:18.
You'd think that if they're enhancing the set pieces (Which are still embarrassingly not as good as PES in it's heyday). They'd STRESS on showing fouls and showcase their body shielding mechanism which also a new major feature this year.
Most games are having zero fouls so we haven't even seen the new set pieces system in action!!
I didn't know you already played the game. How they are not as good as the good old Pes? How can you understand that from videos? Tell me, i'm curious.

So in your opinion:
the game has no fouls
the free kick system is still embarassing
besides many other things you said are completely wrong just watching these Pes 2018 videos.
It's clear people like you feel the game has so many flaws, why are you even here discussing about it? Are you here venting your frustration about how the game is so disappointing to you?
I don't think that as a good way to have an healthy discussion.
I think it's too much to ask Konami for every stat to matter. It seems that they are still a way off. But one way to approach individuality is to have player "Template" which they actually tried in 2013 i think.
For example you'll have a bruising centre back, A skillfull player, A pacey forward. Sort of like the Chemistry cards of FIFA. But in the game itself you'll have around 10 types of playing styles to model instead of hundreds,Even the goalies can have a trait of coming off the line quickly and so on. And of course the player IDs of the cover superstars can still be there.
Yep. Shooting too, unfortunately.Fouls won't be sorted.
