PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

I'm abit concerned to be honest, I can see online being a dribbling fest using one player from midfield to goal, that doesn't get me excited at all, pes 17 makes you earn it a lot more than the pes 18 vids Iv seen so far
All playtesters have referred to defending being a little harder at first so maybe that's why?

I believe advanced instructions should only be applicable if you, or the CPU, have a high Team Spirit. That way it makes sense that teams/players are completely in-sync. Doesn't make sense if you're a crap team, but are completely in-sync with advanced instructions. The perception that talent alone is what syncs up a team is a fallacy, yet that is how these advanced instructions seem to work.

Ouch, that would be terrible.
Well perhaps maybe not if teamspirit would be realistic.
There are teams who surpass theirselves because of team spirit (i'm speaking IRL now). The sum of the individuals is much stronger than the basic worth of each individual added because they are a team (Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Bournemouth, Huddersfield Town, Brighton, Montpellier and AA Gent at times, there are lots of examples like that).

But in the ML you always start with a low team spirit. I remember starting a ML with Atletico Madrid in PES2016. After 3 or 4 matches i had to play Sevilla. That team had a team spirit of 94 and my Atletico had 67...you don't stand a chance then and your players almost dribble the ball in their own goal (i'm exagerating of course, but your players do things time and time again that a professional top player might do once in a carreer).

What you call a crap team (there are no crap teams in PES) can have a tactically astute manager and can be almost impossible to beat. It happens regularly that teams are punching above their weight. In fact to me, that is the essence and the worldwide appeal of football. It's a game and not so much a sport. In sports 99% the best wins (look at cycling, my other favourite sport). In football there is a bigger chance that the underdog wins (money is slowly destroying this, the reason why younger people either support big clubs or individual players and follow them).

And now Matt, i'm gonna criticise you (but with big respect). I think that is the problem with the people who have access to the development team. They all seem to play with big teams. B-man and his friends play the big teams just like Asim and Adam, just like the WENB guys...they play with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Bayern Munchen and AC Milan.

I'm playing ML's with Huddersfield Town, Palermo, Lille (before Hazard), AZ, Sochaux, Le Havre, Southampton, Parma...i think the ML i mentioned with Atletico Madrid is the one and only exception. That is also the reason whi don't want an hyper realistic game. In an hyper realistic game those clubs don't stand achance to win something...

I'm a Spurs fan, but i never played a ML with them, because they are too big IMO.

And that is the essence of video games, to feel yourself king of the wordl even if you know that you never will be irl. The best memory of PES i have was in PES5 (not sure about that, could have been later). Me with Auxerre playing the semi final of the CL against Real Madrid with the first galactico team. I lost the fist leg in Madrid with 2-0, although ihad dominated. In the home leg (in that indoor stadium) they were 2-0 up at half time. I scored 5 goals in the second half with players like Benjani, Mansiz and Espinas was man of the match...

I went on to win the final with 2-1 (that 5-2 result was an exception).
With the game you want i think that is impossible.

Hope you don't see this as a personal attack because it isn't in the least.

In my opinion, this needs a lot more animations and shooting/goal variety to be the best footy game of all time. 2017 had neither and I hated it.

Really... are you guys watch this video ?

These are people from whom Konami collect ...feedback ? Are you serious? People who have no idea and what is PES? If you listen carefully to the things that say ... how SLOOOOOOWWW the game and the players is ...

What build is that? Looks a bit sluggish and feels like there is a delay to everything and is more similar to PES 2017. Running/spriting speed and animation doesn't look natural. It looks like it's on slow-mo mode. Also not much difference in pace between slow and fast players in this build either. *facepalm*

The cherry on top would be the game selecting the language on its own depending on who you play against. :) this game has so much potential!! Oh boy.
ok, your hired! Konami please pay him......:APPLAUD:

yes, because if i play at Barcelona i want their commentary team for atmosphere, this is something that PES could have over FIFA!

This would be a HUGE idea!
It's exactly what I did here while playing @James Beaver's wonderful PES 2015 challenge and I can confirm it adds a whole new level of realism to the game.
And, in addition, it helps make the commentary less boring.

@Bond!JamesBond! see, im just a tittle light and want no money. Just contribute. There are a lot of PES fans (I guess it's the older gen) more professional that would help out for free.
Same here. I've been ceating textures for PES for over a decade now (I started in 2004 making kits for PES 3, and went on till PES 2015 with a little stint in "FIFA land" in between) and I've never asked anything in return.
If I only had enough time again, I would jump back in no-question-asked.

Love the contextual shielding at 00:46 to hold off the defender, in PES17 that defender would make it ahead of the static forward every time. it does worry me slightly that it was followed directly by a backheel mind you, in fact that backheel is in far too many of those clips.

the section of keeper saves is great too!

just played PES 3 today for the first time.
First off, i laughed when i played as Juventus and commentary called out Buffon "i thought what he's playing her too" the mans a stud! he's played sense PES has been alive.
PES 3 plays a nice and tidy game of football with fair play! Hard as hell to shoot a good strike for goal.
I got pass a defender was running for goal and the defender fouled me...smart play i didn't score!
It's got a very fair foul system unlike PES 2017....... why can't the developers just give us fair play today?

Pes3 still my fav, i sometimes play a game or two on ps2.

History wise things became real bad after pes5. Problem being after that pes defense became non existent, in old pes u had to time ur tackle right, wrong timing meant fouling or kissing the player good bye. These day u just run into a player at full speed and steal the ball. People complained about too many fouls in pes 5 and konami changed the system. That ruined the game forever.

Second issue is ball control and pass, these days all players feel like messi when controlling the ball. Back in the days u needed to think to who you were passing the ball.

Player indiviuality has also gone "fifa way", all that matters now is how fast a player is. They can all send passes like zidane even on manual.

Finally ball physics, i think pes5 had the best ball physics i ever seen in a game, ball felt alive, difficult to control with mediocre players, u just could not play barce style like u can do these days. These days ball is very scripted.

And IMHO, all these options about manual controls made the game worse, think i preferred the simple stat system used back in the days.

Don't think we'll never get a game as good as the old days for the simple reasons that customers wants a ping pong games and tennis scores.

Nostalgia over nine thousand.

In PES 2017, you must do a perfect tackle, or you will foul your opponent. Yesterday I just checked that with two more friends.

Ball control and pass is nowhere Messish with players 65 / 70 rated from original Master League. Add some rainy weather and ball control is a mess. Playing a ML with Real Betis and fake players. Woah.

So, of course, no, this players can't do Zidane passes.

I think it's boring right now talking every day about PES 3 / 5 / 6 vs 2017.

Totally agree that the rot set in after PES5.
All the people who are nostalgic about PES6 are so wrong...never understood that.

All the issues posted on evo-web can be remedied with improving as a player or getting into the edit mode and making edits.

The game is fine (pes 2017). As for Pes 2018, it is a new stage 1 of 3 game, so it wont be as balanced imho. We'll see.

My 2 cents.

Couldnt agree more. I even gave my PES6 away after about 2 weeks because for me it was a backward step from PES5. All a bit over powered, too easy to score, and no fouls.

@Deco, yeh im finding PES2014 quite good at the moment. Yesterday though i tried PES2017 with @curdstar's camera and it plays better. But went to do a little video of the match but then i see all the CPU shots from 20-25rds all hit true and powerful from about 4 different players.

The build up is great but the shots are killing me. I know im sounding like a long playing record (probably the b side of Chris' broken one), but this really needs to be addressed in PES2018. For me i would actually be happy with just that inprovement.

So Deco i will probably play a bit more PES2014 today. Its just a shame that its harder to record.

You are confusing "sliding tackle" with "tackle". Ever after pes 5 tackling has been ridicolous, you keep r1 press and go against the opponest and you steal the ball, no whatsoever skill or timing required. And on the "sliding tackle" issues don't let me start, pes has always been a sliding tackle fest where you could still a millon ball that way, very unrealistic. Probably the one and only aspect where fifa got it right.

I understand young people like you like to play this arcade games, if you haven't play ISS back i the days you probably don't know how good the gameplay was back then.
