PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Yeah, only looks like it but it's not real simulation

I watched the video of a french youtuber who was invited by Konami at the Nou Camp, and almost all the comments on his video are just hateful towards PES. IMO, Konami shouldn't have invited such guys to play the game. I don't want to criticize, but let's face the truth : some people just hate PES, they don't like it, period. It's very unlikely they'll change their opinion on PES that easily.
.

"lol nobody plays PES"
"can't wait to play as London Red haha"
"looks like robots hurr durr"

I see these every single year and I've realised that they're still talking about PES 2010/11/12. People who didn't spend 5 minutes in any PES after 2014 but say it sucks because it doesn't have X team or Y competition. It's actually great, I love to see all the triggered fanboys going crazy with these remarks when someone like Barcelona or Aubameyang is promoting the game on their page

no real simulation on hair movement = no buy, obviously

Literally unplayable! :SMUG:

55 pages deep and we've still got 80 odd days till the game comes out! I've really enjoyed the variety of clips, gifs and videos that everyone's been sharing so far, it's hard to see the game for what we want until we finally are able to play it. Either be that with the online beta at the end of July or the demo in August time, until then I don't want to get my hopes up too much...

Plus I'm still really enjoying PES 2017, I genuinely think it's the best PES that's ever been released (please don't crucify me).

agree with you buddy. With Nesa and Juce gameplay adjustments, its sublime

Going to struggle with playing either FIFA or pes17 after seeing these videos. I just LOOKS So so good.

That video was far less end to end as well.
it's your intention on how you play, and if you can defend or not. PES needs a more realistic first touch to penalize long passing. But these quick passing rush to goal players need to be penalized some how. First touch and stamina improvement would help.

I love it too... I'm also convinced that it's the best PES ever, and I'm really enjoying it like it hardly happened with any other PES before.
But (don't put me on the cross now) I'm still in love with PES 2015 too. Technically it's been a step backwards from PES 2014, but I'm replaying it now on Xbox One and it plays pretty damn good (despite it looking somehow "blocky", I don't think it's FullHD).

The perfect game will never exist: it's just a matter of finding the game that suits us the most. PES 2017 goes pretty close to that (at least to me) if you ask me, and so did PES 2015.

PES 2013 had the same issue with end-to-end and it started because the players were too small on the pitch(which I think is a realistic size). Now that in PES 2018, the players have small size again, the end-to-end issue that was present in PES 2013 is back. It's like PES Team can't calculate the positioning and spacing code when they have smaller sized players.

catch-up bug is out (11:58 video)

Good stuff here.
The GK at the goal @3:49 looks so good. He is in bad position and jumps fully stretched to the left and it looks like he did that with a lot of effort. Never seen that before.
Also nice save @4:20.

The stuff I don´t like here is due to the way these guys are playing it, for example passing in a bad position...looks awkward.
Also the last video PRO_TOO posted looked good to me.
Good enough to assume that I might enjoy it a lot on full manual, as I still keep enjoying PES 20017.

Can´t wait putting my hands on this game.

Btw, about shooting:
To me shooting (basic shooting) is fine in PES 2017. Whenever I shoot rockets it´s comprehensible, for example with Bale´s left foot (kicking power 96). Someone with a lower kicking power never shoots that hard.
Also...with Bale I can´t shoot always like that...he needs to be in a good position and not being disturbed.
Also...I never performed those shots with his weak foot.
Same goes for other players of course.

But someone here made me curious about advanced shooting. Never ever wanted to touch that, but if you say it adds extra random shots....mmhhh.....but well....the learning curve of playing manual was high enough.
Don´t know whether I´ll be able to go through that again :P

I was sceptical at first, but after watching many videos I really appreciate this PES. I personally think it can get even better animation-wise but it's rather satisfying as it is.

Anyway, I just wanted to mention one thing which shocked me. It's not related to the gameplay itself, but I was really shocked by all the criticism and hate towards PES coming from all the FIFA kids/fanboys on twitter and youtube. Ok, we all know the game isn't perfect, but for God's sake, why so much hate?

I watched the video of a french youtuber who was invited by Konami at the Nou Camp, and almost all the comments on his video are just hateful towards PES. There are "geniuses" at Konami UK and their "friends" who think this is brilliant exposure.

I mean, this is a joke, right? He has to be joking. Please be joking.
Nothing to joke about, mate. Just look at the videos showing faces, there's clearly no real movement to the hair, just a weird motion blur effect to make appear like it's moving. I don't care much about this, I simply stated what I saw

..gotta love the last few pages on this thread.. took a while to catch up but have to say: great reading, particularly with the conflicting views. I'm loving the passion that PES invokes in all of us, particularly during this part of the year. I'm totally in agreement with the tactical guys who think that Konami really needs to work on things like positioning, defence awareness and midfield tightness before its release this year. I'm also in agreement with those who simply want the game to be better, eg. more variations, particularly with passing and shooting errors. All in all, these wants (if fixed by Konami) would make PES more simulation than ever before.

However, I do think we need to consider that this is no doubt the best, most realistic looking PES to date. The videos (particularly the 60fps ones) and gifs we have seen over the last week are extraordinary. Finally, I can say I'm no longer annoyed by poor player physics. No more big shorts or sleeves. Finally players move and run like they ought to thanks to the new animations/transitions. The game is slower than ever before and ive never seen a football game with better ball physics than what ive seen with the pes18 vids. Squinting at the screen, it finally looks like youre actually watching a real football match. I think the mega effort of getting the asthetics and animations finally right, totally out weights anything else, including positioning/tactics or variations (not that I dont think this is incredibly important) - as all of the extras can now be worked on. Put it this way, id much prefer a game that looks and plays like real football (on the ball etc), than have a game that tactically gets everything right, but looks and moves like crap. Don't wanna make this a fifa v pes, but fifa still cannot get player physics right, and based on my experience on ps4 (referring to fifa16 and 17), it just doesn't move as smoothly (ball though air and panning) as pes which is incredibly important in a ball sport.

I'm just so relieved that its plain obvious Konami have finally got a fantastic base to work off.... just moved to the front carriage of this so called beast of a train!!!!! Choo Choo!!!! ;)

This also has to be a joke, right? Please tell me gabe is joking?

Honestly how can you get excited about having the same shots over and over? I cant.

I hope the contextual shooting animations will tie in with ballphysics so you will see much more wayward shots and IF it goes 1 meter close you will appriciate it! Not to mention hitting the target.

That was PES. Variety. Risk & reward which not applies atm for shooting. Its either hitting the target 8/10 times. Other 2 is the 1 meter miss. Again weird because headers have their diversity.

As I play 90% of pes online what needs fixing from last year is the teammate pressure firstly as that ruined the game, turning most games into a ping pong fest as you're relentlessly chased down by 2 players at a time the whole game. Crossing / headed goals need turning down too. The pace online due to both of these seriously affected how long I played the game longevity wise. A few extra animations won't make me play the game any longer. Apologies for the negativity

A couple of fifa YouTubers playing PES2018:

Thanks for posting this. :)

I have to say that for me this is the best gameplay video I have seen so far. I know that they are not the best players but it was good to see a few wayward shots, especially the Griezman effort near the start and then the one that was the last kick of the game. Some good deflections in there as well which adds to the variety. Less end to end too.

Still needs to have more fouls though and the crowd seemed oblivious to what was going on in the match.

Really hope it plays well against the CPU.

I might be over optimistic after seeing these videos but I have a good feeling about konami tweaking shooting. They've supposedly taken it on board and there really isn't much else to change other than the tactical side but I'd imagine that's too big a job before launch.

Adam just said that build is 4 months old...could they!?

I'm watching @Matt10 pes 3 YouTube stream and loving every bit of it. He started ML with Rangers and the first game against Lokomotiv, you can see all the horrible first touches. So beautiful. I was cheering every time barota got the ball and just couldn't control it well. The heavy touches all over the place. When ivarov saved the penalty I threw my fist in the air. The spaces on the pitch were mostly covered and there was no end to end. It was just beautiful to watch. All the fouls too. Also footplanting much better than the skaty shit we have now.

I'm honestly more excited and entertained watching this than any of pes 2018s videos.

Edit: lol at castolos bad game. Izmailovs near post goal was so refreshing too. And that horrible bad strike from the left side of the box that flew to the corner flag. On supposedly assisted shooting. Stats mattered!

Can't believe I'm raving about this more than 2018.

And yes @Matt10, they don't make them like this anymore.

Yeah plus the AI playing very varied and not really an empty yard on the pitch bc of bad positioning.

But still Lami....how dare you. Its just nostalgia and its just a video as you havent played this since ages.

:P
