PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Didn't Adam or Asim literally say that last year or the year before? Something about fouls hinder the flow of the game.
Such bullshit! How are they going to showcase the new free kick system with off the ball runs and the new camera angles.

Having said all this I have a healthy compilation of free kicks from PES 2017 penalties though were very rare and downright broken.

I would like to see sliders in the game. If you want to play on default just leave them as they are. 50. I happen to really like PES much more than the other game I think since they introduced the new engine the game looks and moves miles better than the competition.
However this is a soccer game not NBA2k. There must be more meaningful play in the midfield. In my opinion this game suffers the same fate as EA's hockey offering. No play between the blue lines and in PES there is very little play in the midfield.
I would also like to see them offer different types of referee styles from easy to very strict and for God's sake please do something about the stumble animation.

I cant believe nobody is talking about this.

To me there is an absolute game breaking element still in the game. Ive seen plenty of videos of this, here is an example (1:50 minute mark):
The goalkeepers stay on their line and dont rush out one on ones and similar situations. You can basically have all the time in the world to choose a corner which makes scoring goals soooo unsatisfying.

I played old PES yesterday just to check - and there the keeper is way more aggresive when you enter the box. It was a huuuge problem and its obviously still in PES 2018.

Wow, my goodness, just tried viewing that tweet and I can't because Bhatti has blocked me. I literally have no idea why that would be so I've gone back over my polite and friendly feedback from last year and he's blocked me for offering an opinion. Unbelievable Jeff.

That seals the deal for me. If the PR guy can't handle some honest and respectful feedback then, quite frankly, PES is dead to me. I hated 2017 anyway so it's no great loss. Such a shame that I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on ISS 98 through to PES 6, then on to 2017, but it's now come to this. I guess the past belongs in the past.

Wrong. He's not the PR anymore. He's the Brand Manager. @officialpes is the PR.

i dont agree with you, they playing 1vs1 not with AI
i want to control if my keeper goes out or not because if he rush to early is an easy chip goal

I mostly play against the AI - and this is what I´m talking about. Against the AI the keeper stays on his line way too long.

Yeah seems odd. Maybe keeper specific?

I was playing PES 2017 earlier for the first time in a looooong time and the second goal I scored was because Ter Stegen ran out leaving me with acres of space to take it past him.

what's even more of a game breaking element, is that the keeper has to make a save just 1:50 into the game ....
back to goalie ......maybe that's a defensive goalie and not offensive, you can change that in player styles.

Everything is game breaker. What a bad game, huh? And let's always shield it behind "we want the best". I think this is just getting boring. I really think, if you think this game is so unplayable, then don't play it, and do not fill this with so much negativity and hate.

The "fck Konami" and all that things are not needed.

NBA2k18 allows you to create your own team, slider set, arena design, logos and share everything online!

You can also customize leagues, seasons ,competition and trade rules.

Konami just need to add something like this and let us cater to our own needs and focus on their money grabbing arcade for little kids.

That would be cool. Master League Default, Master League Old School(no changing teams :p ) and Master League Sandbox.

There's a good idea for PES 19 maybe.

I think often people's main concern with pes 2018 is lack of shot variety, and overpower shooting.
I guess they will work on it in couple years to get the decent balance in that area (like what they did on passing and all the play testers admitted that is a balance between assistance and freedom).
but what about this time? we need a temporary solution about shooting that give us a half decent balance between variety and assistance.

here is an idea:
we can have an average between manual and basic shooting based of player stats. I explain that ...
I assume input direction (current manual shooting) as Input
and assume fully assisted direction (best and most dangerous point to shot (how about 20cm from post?) ... or something that is almost close to current basic shooting for 99 accuracy stats player) as Assisted
and assume my suggested output as Output

we have an accuracy stats from 40 to 99 (we assume 100 as a perfection which no player can have that)
first, let me explain the method for a middle range player with 70 shot accuracy.
the Output should be in the middle of Input and Assisted. (a random output in the area that I showed by arc ... I will explain the logic of calculating length of that arc)
(that was for middle range player stats, 70)
for player with 40 shot accuracy, random area is around to Input.
for player with 100 shot accuracy, random area is around to Assisted. (I said 100 but I meant 99 ... 100 is only for calculation and programming ... no player has 100 shot accuracy in game)

indeed: b=a(100-stats)/60 ... (unit: degree)
b: the angle between Input and Assisted
a: the angle between Output and Assisted

(in this case: a=90,accuracy stats=70 ... so b=90(100-70)/60 ... so b=45 degree)
now we only need length of arc (unit:degree) to recognize which area should be span of random result

footballfield2.jpg

the length of arc of random area could be: arc=(a/3)+(100-stats) ... (unit:degree)
(in this case: a=90,accuracy stats=70 ... so arc=(90/3)+(100-70) ... arc=30+30=60 degree)
(in this case all of random area is out of goal and the shot can't go to goal at all, because Input is very bad direction)

then better Input(more close to danger area=more close to Assist) will result smaller random area
also better accuracy stats will result smaller random area (and more close to perfect point)

if we assume 20cm from post as perfect point (I called it Assisted), then there is two perfect point for shooting, the game can choose the close one (to Input direction) for calculating.
the formula can be applied for every single direction (including middle of goal direction, and the formula can tend it to near post based on calculated random area)

numbers in my suggested formula can be adjusted a bit, but I think they are fair numbers.

about height of shot variety: I think it only need to be more sensitive based on shot gauge bar.

the same method can be calculated for heading by heading stats.

I suggest it to be default, but if no, at least it can be an option in addition to (basic/advance/manual).
I think it shouldn't be hard to programming this way.

I was thinking... ML need to have a % option with budget for buying players and salaries. That you could add more % at salaries and less to transfer budget. Football Manager thing.

About the award: Konami of course is proud to have this nominations, but they should know that masses don't look at them when talking about a sport game. So no worries if they do not win that prize. They should focus on the World Tour.

why the f*** on 5:59 the player forgot to control the ball after the lobbed pass into the box, those things still remain in the game, like players not doing any control and forgetting the ball near the lines......no comment

i think if he wouldn't have tried to long pass he could have controlled it.

But they did win last 2-3 years best football game award at E3 right? Isn't this it?
I believe it's not the same 'E3 best sports game' award. I'm pretty confident that PES 2015 won that, yet on that site there's NHL 15 listed.

Animation and motion wise the game looks absolutely fantastic. But once you move your attention out of these shining aspects their are reason to be concerned even before actually playing the game. I mean it seems that the game will not be worse than 17 and probably it will be way better than it. But the flow I am seeing in those many video are exactly the one that made me let PES17 down. When I say I let it down, these happened only 1-2 months ago. Before that I was playing exclusively this game 3 to 6 days a week (I only play football games) since I owned it. So that you know I am not a casual PES17 player.

For me the biggest things are positioning (looks identical to PES2017) and AI players situation awareness when defending, the ball carrying side looks great though. I will not extend on that as I feel this debate as already had his time and various opinions have already been expressed quite extensively.

On the topic of the keepers staying on their line, I have also the feeling that not much have been done and it might be an area that have actually regressed compared to 17.

On the supercut video bellow there are few goals where the keepers did not react properly (did not react at all):
- On Coutinho lob around 1:10
- On the next action around 1:19. On that one its timing is so bad that it seems like the lob is eventually the easiest option for the striker.
Have you not been surprised by the amount of lobs we see in all these video?

On that video, the intro is superb. I love seeing the crowd on the background. But as soon as the game start, second pass, what is that? What Dortmund players are doing? Yeah and 4 seconds later is a goal from Messi.

Most of these videos have been recorded on lower difficulty, I get that. But still...
