Was searching for ages last night and found an option file with the removed players made by mantis modding! There’s also one for pes 2021 on his youtube channel, I don’t know about 18 and 19 unfortunately

That's a great find ! I've taken the few faces for my classic UCL file. I've created 70 or 80 young players from free agents for my ML game already so going to leave the rest. If someone is starting an OF then this is where to begin.
 
Here is a Marquee Moon PS4 patch for the 1998 World Cup. I found it recently on YouTube and I don’t know if everyone here is familiar with it.

I found his patch to be of excellent quality, particularly for the following reasons:

  • Well-modeled players, including real faces for the following players: Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Stoichkov, Hago, Kluivert, Frank and Ronald de Boer, Overmars, Davids, Reiziger, Cocu, Van Bronckhorst, Blanc, Thuram, Albertini, Owen, Luis Enrique, Sergi.
  • High-quality stats : weaker teams clearly have appropriate ratings ; matching the players level at the time of the competition (e.g., Eto’o is represented as the player he was at 17) ; details that show great attention to quality (e.g., Michael Tarnat takes a long run-up for free kicks)...
  • Well-crafted formations that match each team’s style
  • Edited stadiums, rivalries included, correct player numbers, banners, coach photos, etc.
  • As a bonus, “World All-Stars” and “Europe All-Stars” teams
I made some changes for my personal use. 95% of the work is from the original Marquee Moon patch (most of the kits, players attributes et faces, coach faces, stadiums pics, teams flags).

Here’s what I have changed:
  • Adjusted the color tones of about fifteen kits that were not accurate (overly bright yellows, inconsistent greens in particular): Saudi Arabia H & A; Bulgaria H & A; Cameroon H & A; Colombia H; Netherlands H; Iran H & A; Jamaica H & A; Morocco H; Romania H & A; South Africa H & A; Yugoslavia A.
  • Formations and tactics completely redone (even though Marquet Moon’s were already very good). I based my work on the FIFA technical report published after the competition and various websites reviewing specific matches. All tactics are fluid.
  • Edited the playing styles of many players to ensure consistency with the tactics used and their roles during the tournament.
  • Assigned a stadium to each team with edited details (not necessarily the same as those chosen by Marquee Moon—this is purely a matter of taste, since the fictional stadiums don’t really resemble the real ones used in the competition anyway).
  • I placed all teams in the slots of the two English leagues, with the 1998 World Cup logo. The teams are sorted alphabetically.
Mini-faces are not accurate, but this has no impact once in a match.

Eh, I don't know about next gen but winning penalties on the PC version was fine iirc. The referees were of course a little lenient at times but in the penalty box they were alright, especially if the player who went down had the Malicia skill.
 
Played this again on PS4 for the first time in probably 5 years and I really forgot how enjoyable it is to play

It's probably the one PES of all that generation (2015-2021) that doesn't have a major broken flaw in the gameplay. Had some epic matches and moments and seen the AI score some amazing goals against me

Om about to start a ML (again) on Pes 2017, brilliant game my favourite one of most likely all Pes games
And like you said , no flaws, I've been on 2013-14-15-18-19-20 lately and they all have something that doesn't sit right with me.

Totally agree with this opinion.
I was liked to play earlier in PES 2018 on PS3 system (played many matches) and later was tryed to play tournament in PES 2018 PS4 version - but as a result - I am very clearly seeing "obvious scripting", that do not allow me control proccess of playing.

PES 2017 with it's unpredictable character and variety is much more interesting for tournaments; this game give you "alive emotions inside".

Im thinking about buying pes 18 on Xbox 360, don't like it on Xbox one
Big difference between pes 17 on 360 and Xbox One, both very good though

I can say from myself, that PES 18 PS3 for me is better playable, then PES 18 PS4.
While I am seeing and feeling "limited gameplay" too, but ps3 version is still better in times.

Same here, though i can play Pes 20 as well, not nearly as good but not a deal breaker.
Tried all my Pes games lately but Pes 17 is really the only one that i see very few flaws in
 
Just finished a project on the PS4. I invested in a Pro to play Pes 17 in 4k with all the stunning kits made by Sakura7729. While I was doing it I decided to go the whole hog and do the editing I always wanted to try. I decommissioned the RWF, LWF, RMF and LMF positions as starting positions but kept as playable positions. Most wingers became SS or AMFs and wide players AMFs or CMFs. These players still retain Prolific Winger play styles etc and will drift wide naturally on attack and tuck in more realistically on defence. I then took time to edit all team formations to Klashman's tactics for the top divisions and then solid formations with the second leagues and the weaker leagues. The beauty of this is the AI will always change the tactics on the fly and the top teams will play similar to their real life style. Every team now plays a fairly high line for the most part and this creates a tighter midfield meaning the ball has to be moved well to create a chance. Counter attacks are now seen more often and all play styles are short pass to stop constant hoofing from poor teams. Aggressive style is the setting for all teams which creates a lot of fouls and yellow cards. In the 9 matches so far the AI has had 2 red cards also. 2 penalties for myself in that time as well as opposed to other games where penalties are like rocking horse shit. As for player editing I used my original PesItalia file and kept as much vanilla as possible. I had the Colombian league and various teams from South America and no USA teams to keep the Libertadores legitimate. All keepers have been made at least 65 rated with a cap at 85 and all are now Offensive Goalkeepers for a more real feel. I'm pretty satisfied with everything so far and have put a lot of hours play testing various styles formations etc prior to this. If it wasn't for Sakura (Many thanks) making all his stunning kits I don't think I would have been inspired to do this 2 month project.

if only someone can port the pes 2018 from the xbox 360/ps3 to pc somehow. i like that version.

Done the same myself with a bit of editing, great modelling for the teams tho for sure....
 
Extremely late to this party but is there an optimal OF that people recommend? Got a PS4 version of the game coming in the post and I'm absolutely buzzing.
