PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Does the live update automatically apply itself in game and as such overwrite any editing you do?

Or do you have to prompt the game or at least accept the game trying to install the live update?

Im worried that one morning ill wake up and everything ive done is gone :(

Previous versions... of FIFA did indeed have L1 as a very effective close control button. PES has never featured that kind of close control on the same button. I do remember (vaguely) there being some kind of trapping mechanic, i.e. press L1+up/down+triangle or some similar un-PES nonsense that I've never bothered with. We've never clamoured for FIFA-style extra button inputs but they keep trying to give them to us anyway.

Tried Advanced shooting in Free training mode and I hit the bar 8 out of 10 times! What the hell am I doing wrong? Someone wrote here that stats would come in to play more when using Advanced shooting so I wanted to try that but every player, regardless of position, hit the bar when I shoot...:II

Yeah, I'm hitting the bar or the post a lot too with advanced shooting. I tried manual shooting for a few matches, found it too difficult.

turn on the markers for advanced shooting so you can see it move.
i think when you press shoot button during the players animation you can move the marker with left stick
 
Ah one thing that is driving me bananas:
I am losing the game, the opposing team has a goal kick and all my players are 30 meters far away so AI just passes the ball outside the box and start passing the ball around.
This happens even if attack level is max out.

UPDATE:
12 league games played with Juventus, 11 were at night. Funny thing the 7th or 8th started as day game but unfortunately i had to take care of some stuff (wife was a pain) and decided to quit the game (i had saved before), when i came back i loaded the file and the game gave me a "night game"....lol....that's some real bad luck....

So i might for the moment give up the master league, there is hardly any stadium i like at night (the español stadium didn't look half as bas as the others i guess). Or mabye i'll try a different league, but the whole thing is frankly speaking ridicolous.

But i really despise the lack of stadia considering u can't use the latinos in european master league...basically it's the same handful of stadia over and over, kills the immersion.

I also very much prefer top player, it seems the pressing isn't as crazy as superstar. I mean not every team in the world play like barcelona...

If they spend next year on improving game modes, presentation, stadia etc then we have a bright future ahead.

Playing this game daily....still liking it...still playing myclub against COM....guess I´ll try on of those OF´s soon.

One thing bugs me though and I got used to not throwing the ball off the keeper anymore!
Keeper got the ball, I load up the X button to the max, but either he throws it flat or (WTF???) rolls it hard on the ground.
Conceded quite a few goals like that, as the ball got caught by the opponent striker.

Yeah, thanks, I have the marker on, but it doesn't help much. I though I had figured out a technique that works quite well, but the advanced shooting lets you down when you just need to do a tap in, for instance, and your guy just blows it over or something because you don't really have time to aim (first time shot, for instance). So it's better for longer shots (have scored a few times from outside the box), but not so great for tap-ins.

I use the triangle button for some pace on the throws
 
Got to say I'm loving advanced shooting. Can put the ball anywhere you want direction wise and the players ability does the rest. It's difficult to get off show under pressure, but I'm getting better at it...actually feels realistic that when pressured it's hard to door and aim at same time.

If your shots are hitting the bar, then I guarantee it's because you're actually not aiming, next time it happens notice where you've actually got the left stick pointed. Was happening to me and then I realised I just thought I was aiming but wasn't, with advanced if you don't aim properly you're hitting woodwork. Also remember that it's not a power bar but a height bar.
 
I'm enjoying the game a lot, lots of room for improvement but the gameplay is excellent.

I have changed the commentary audio to Italian though, the English commentary is awful.

My favourite line so far (I'm paraphrasing):

JB: "Well I think it's obvious what they're trying to do here."
PD: "...What are they trying to do?"

Jim sounds like a guy who saw his first live game a week ago, trying to impress his mate who's only watching the football so that Jim doesn't beat him up.

It sounds utterly mental when they're supposed to be professional football commentators. First off, Jim's being a dick. "I think it's OBVIOUS what they're trying to do here, in-fact if you haven't seen it, you don't deserve to be listening to me talk right now". Shut up, Jim, you're not even real, you're 0s and 1s on a disc.

Then you've got Peter's response, which makes him sound like he's just been caught out. "What are they trying to do? For the first half an hour I thought they were trying to collect the ball to put it into a Sainsbury's bag, but now I'm not so sure. Does the ball have a secret message on it and they're all passing it back and forth so they can read it without the other team seeing it?"

The tone is the major negative, one moment they're just talking and then Drury suddenly explodes into action because I took an unnecessary pot shot that flew miles over the bar.

It sounds weird but Konami's focus on gameplay is too extreme.

I don't understand Italian and wouldn't be surprised if they're saying the same things as the English commentators but at least it 'sounds' better.

PD: "...what are they trying to do?"

Best part for me, in the commentary is when Peter asks Jim what player he's keeping an eye out for the match or whatever, and than after the long answer, Peter says "Interesting" in a super sarcastic way, like he thinks the player Jim chose is absolute sh*t

3 seasons in.. they are just regens.. Totti retires and is Totti aged 16.


I miss the good ol days of Chapi Schwarz and Kaiser...

I also miss the other way and thats...

This player reminds me of "name" and the player will then have similar stats of said player.

You have to put frontline preassure in tactics

Most annoying part is when you're getting hammered and they score again and Drury shouts .. . . . More and more and more.

Ahahaha, yeah, that segment always sounds weird.

I love the response to him picking a defender, i.e. "are you just picking him because you used to be a defender too Jim?!"

"Well obviously not you bellend, what difference would that make? Do you think I'm in love with him or something? Actually, you know what Peter, I've put up with your orgasmic screaming when someone so much as farts on the ball for long enough, my doctor says I've already lost half my hearing and I'll never get it back again, but this is the final straw, shove your banter up your arse."

cheers, what sort of ratings are we seeing? it irks me to see a load of 16 year olds rated at 75+ still, at least its better than the year we had the bug that players would regenerate with the ability that they retired with :D
