PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Going back to that review, this comment made me LOL:

"Score a screamer from outside the box and see how good it feels"

It would feel great if I wasn't scoring that same screamer at least once in every match I play.

I just want to score scruffy tap ins and boring headers now and again but it doesn't seem like I can. Unless that's something to do with the way I play?

Are you seeing this on the demo?

From what I've read, people tend to complain that you can't score from outside the box any more, even with players who are capable of it.

If you were talking about PES 2016 I'd agree with you, but I'm not seeing this.

No offense, but I don't think I've seen you post a positive comment about 2017 (which is the best PES in eons) since you've signed up. I've scored scrappy goals, headers, etc. Very rudimentary stuff. Same applies to the CPU. On manual shooting I'm certainly not scoring screamers every match. They happen from time to time, but it's still a fairly rare occurrence for me. I've scored a few long range worldies in the demo, but with the likes of Pogba and Suarez.

I remember the CPU played a short corner, played it to the edge of the box and had a shot. It got blocked, went back to the CPU who then shot a low driven shot that was going right towards my keeper, and it would have been a relatively easy save. Instead, my defender stuck a leg out, and it deflected off his foot in just the right manner to deftly chip my keeper. He remained crouched as he helplessly watched the ball float over his head. I thought it was beautiful.

Goals like this are fantastic in the sense that they are spawned by an error on my part (again, this is the benefit of playing on manual) and developed into quite an interesting goal. Fist pump moment. My God awful cross was deflected, fell to Messi who attempted to Sombrero the defender, but it inadvertently became an amazing assist to Suarez.

I know backheels aren't that rare in recent years, but I thought it was a cheeky goal by the CPU. Again, it all came from a fortuitous deflection.

This is my favorite goal from the demo, and it's up there as one of my favorites of all time. Mainly because I decided to try to back heel it to myself and it actually came off. I try this a lot in FIFA/PES, but it usually doesn't come off. Again, another benefit of manual passing.

My point is, I've witnessed a lot of interesting, and enjoyable goals from myself and the CPU that go beyond the typical, "I just scored from 35 yards out on assisted shooting!" Most variety in goal scoring I've seen since PES 2013. Though, when you do manage to score one on manual it's a hell of a feeling.

I reckon if you went at 5 to post office it would be there. I never wait 24 hours or next day. It should be there from when postman returns
I can't even get them to pick up the phone, I don't think there's anyone at the depot... It's not a big-city one, the form says you can collect parcels between 7am and 1pm each day.

No offence taken. I am struggling to see how people are finding this so different to PES 2016 is all?

I haven't played the full game so hopefully that will be better. But the demo just feels like PES 2016.5 to me.

I will buy both this and FIFA 17 and give them both many hours of gameplay before forming a proper opinion - I just don't understand why I am not enjoying this as much as other people seem to be.

Sounds like the small depot near my house where my friend works. They have 2 people working at it half day, then they go to the main depot near town for their second shift.

That's fair enough. Different strokes, for different folks. All I know is I actively dislike 2016, and I really enjoy 2017. Maybe it'll finally click for you, or maybe not at all! Such is life I suppose.

I hope so mate. Not feeling this demo yet but that could change.

I doubt the package is your PES2017 from ShopTo. The only way it could be is if you paid extra for expedited delivery and the courier service picked up in the wee small hours from ShopTo, which is unlikely considering it's Royal Mail. Otherwise it's 1st Class post, which means it’s probably being processed with the rest of them (including mine) right now at ShopTo's local sorting office, for arrival tomorrow. That card you had left puzzles you because it's for something else.

All i want from this game is ai variety in attack, i dont want anymore low bottom corner goals against me, is this fixed in pes 2017? Can anyone confirm that cpu attacking and goal variety is there?

I got the full game and it seems like they changed the manual pass a little bit. It was perfect but they have to change it regardless. I feel a bit of catchup bug. But other than that and the lazer guided passing by the CPU, it's the best PES this gen. The variety in team and player is pretty realistic. However there are certain scripted moments in Master League based on team spirit as I thrashed Man UTD by 4-0 being Leicester City and got beaten by Bournemouth by 2 goals to 0.

If the demo is anything to go by then definitely, unequivocally , undoubtedly, emphatically . . . . Yes
Played the demo but vs a friend offline i didnt play vs cpu, all i can say is that the pes feeling of build up play is back, you have to earn your goal by thinking of the build up,of how to find space and exploit that space, and its definitrly harder to score , reminds me of pes 5 and 6, the pace is great aswell we played on 0 gamespeed and it felt good, so i am positive about this game so far, as far as ai variety in attack and goals, i trust zemeister reply just now that it is fixed.

It could well be something else - I'm just assuming it's PES because I've not ordered anything else, and because the game was showing as "posted" late last night (I was thinking that might mean they'd posted it in the morning, and the status hadn't been updated until later on).

unless @Chris Davies has the thinnest letter box ever I cant see why this wasn't posted. You don't have to sign for Royal Mail 1st class stuff.
How dare you bring the size of my letterbox into this! :P

It's been sent signed-for, but I definitely selected "first class". Either it's something else or they've used the wrong postage. :(

Okay, so my age was tested last night as I claimed as soon as I got the game I'd be up all night. I made it to 2 AM, but still, I had higher aspirations :) .

So much good about this game. However, yes, the issues I discussed are definitely not fixed.

They are:

- CDM positioning not releasing from Defensive Line
- No transition from Attack to Defense Levels

But...it can be fixed...or at least made better...

Go to....

Edit > Teams > Gameplan > Preset Tactics > Fluid Formations "On" > Formation Change > Make "In Possession" match "Out of Possession"

Defensive Instructions > Frontline Pressure (All out defense results in instant retreat)

Video :)

Are there more adjustments that can be made? Absolutely. However, this very quick change gets the positioning in tact and players much more engaged with what's happening on the pitch, versus what their designated, robotic, positions. I'm enjoying it, and I hope you all try it!!

I've got the full game and sadly the AI is very repetitive, The same sequences when attacking and most of the goals are identical (Chipped ball into the box, Rebound, near post cross) and everything goes into the low bottom corner.

They also miss absolute sitters when they're up in the score to give you a chance in the game lol

Playing be a legend is a such a lifeless chore as well.

I'm optimistic that some tactical tweaks to the ai would fix these things *fingers crossed*

My order from simplygames arrived a few hours ago (I did DPD delivery instead of Royal Mail).

Loving the game...one minor annoyance though, (hopefully a bug that can be fixed) is when you edit a player in any way, even just changing the boots, their face is doesn't show up in the game plan screen anymore.
Also, you can no longer edit the hair of players who have proper faces which is disappointing!

The change to manual passing is what's ticking me off. It was close to perfect in the demo, and now it feels totally wrong to me. It's still a great game, but the passing is driving me nuts.

I love how old we are around here (many of us), I find it charming.

Anyway, has anyone seen or read anything about the ML youth team and the dreaded regens? Have they finally changed that horrible system or will it be more of the same old?

I want to know about the youth too._. I miss the days of Chapi Schwarz uptop with Orlando and Kaiser in midfield
