@Panthera1 You were late but welcome to the party man. You are right R stick is a must. In fact i can say that i use it as frequently as the L stick for movement. Both on defence and offense

agreed for attack and defence. the controls and tactics in Pes have always had certain nearly hidden element to them. Hidden in the way that casual gamers never took the time to figure them out. The reason for me not using the right stick until recently is after going through training and learning the new controls I would just forget to use it but then get pissed off when I couldn't get the ball off a player or keep the ball.

Well Yes I can see that.
However that is surely just a learning curve?
Give it a month or two and those controls will just be natural actions that You do without even thinking twice about ?

I would be glad, but the thing is I am having no issues with it, as i wrote once the new barge feature is way too effective for me, I just don't like using it, we have the left stick already and thats enough for most of the time, i don't like to shake both analog sticks during the whole match like crazy.

There are certain "pillars" konami build upon PES imho, easy yet deep control system is one of them, if they go away from it step by step its running away from it's roots.
I know off course technological progress is relentless and nostalgia plays a role here, but i wish they would think more about new features and see the "big picture" more, in general play their own game more, lets have a closed beta in the own house in the last weeks of production, stuff like that i don't know.

Just played F1 2013 with all settings on Ultra, Anti Aliasing at the highest setting, and the graphics are unreal and it runs at 60fps smooth as butter, same cant be said for PES 2014, SO badly optimised its unbelievable, really hope this patch is going to fix that.

I rarely make a rant here so.. here they go..

# The game needs more spontaneous action for me, for example: you know the feeling in older PES when you dribble and wrong-foot the opponent. It fades away.

# Do i see only 1 vs 1 available in heading ? especially inside box is less fun, less challenging, less unpredictable.. Nonetheless the animation is nice.

# Faster player vs less one. I have a mixed feeling about this

# Oh and defensive line. The ability to properly set up as we want is reduced since PES 2012. I need to play zonal defense sometimes. Not zonal marking ffs

I suspect 50% of those complaining are still trying to play like PES2013.
Or have not yet got a grasp of all the control options available.
The game needs playing like football, getting shoulder in first using right stick
in opposing players direction to unbalance an attacker, You really do get awarded fouls when You are running properly with contact,and penalties too.

The PES2014 discussion thread for xbox / PS3 is way ahead of this one because they actually talk properly about tactics and suchlike.

Well Guys there is only so much shouting at the wall we can take on a daily basis.

If You like the game, lets discuss it properly.
If You don't like the game, don't bother with the rants and venom because
just like arguing with the ref, it gets You nowhere.

You dont notice how delayed the player switching is?

How this affects turning and close control when recieving and passing the ball ?

This is basics in fubtol, and PES 2014 cant even do this...

Guys, is it just me? Please tell me I´m not crazy but sometimes, now and then, I fire up the WE9LE just to feel that nostalgia of past times and, well, I think its amazing.

No, you're deffinetly not crazy.

Although it depends on totaly where you stand. Some guys will call people who still play we9le (or pes5) as those who just are too sentimental old guys who can't get "accustomed" to the next gen pes, so take it for what it's worth.

Seriously speaking now, no, we're not "accustomed" to the way the old pes was, nor we're afraid or incapable of handling the next gen pes. It's not rocket science you know. I try the new pes every year, not for long because I instantly notice when the game can't touch(still) we9le, but I give it enough time until I can assess the core of the gameplay and realism. If the new pes was closer to realism and gameplay than WE9LE (2 things you can feel instantly when you play the game, you don't need 60 hours+ to figure that out, as that is basic stuff) I would play that game, I would stop playing WE9LE. To get all the nuances and details, yes you need lots of time, but not to see whether the cores of the game are done in the right way.

Any person who still plays WE9LE from time to time will not call you crazy, while others who think 8 direction gameplay is archaic and that it is the only factor by which we determine of which football game is better, might. I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Keep on your gut feeling, because if you like the way we9le plays, you're on the right track my friend.

The only reason I can't play WE9LE is because I got way too used to the freedom of 360 and the pitch feels a bit too small, making the game a bit too frenetic.

One thing for sure though, this game has the best ball physics in a football game, ever.

It happen only in online with advanced through ball selected, especially when the latency is high. A well-known bug.

About the size of the field, very hard to get a conclusion. I think it depends on the resolution you use. In my laptop, field is too small for my taste, almost no space at all. Same camera settings but in my 32" TV and it looks way better. Same for WE9LE.

Ok this is the thing. Everybody here talks about placebo when changing certain aspects on settings. Latelly I´ve been playing in a lower resolution, wich gives a stretched image. Pitch looks bigger wich gives a sensation of freedom. It looks like players have more space to run and to pass. The flow is quite diferent of what I was used to, and maybe it makes me play in a diferent way, I don´t know, but most bugs don´t seem to happen often in this setting. Passing has more zip, shooting physics look way better and I´ve seen things on the field I´ve never seen before.

Could someone one please try it out? I would like to see other opinions about this. I think there´s a serious issue about resolution here. I just can´t enjoy the game in my screen´s native resolution.

Even if by some miraculous way it actually makes gameplay much better, i don't look forward to play like that because by streched image everyhing looks very unnatural ( wider bodies, ball shaped like egg etc.) .

True, it has some quality loss, but the main thing its not even the wider effect, as I don´t think its that bad, worst thing is the blur that the image gets. Still, I prefer the gameplay. Maybe its just a think for a couple of days until I get tired, but right now, I like it.

Yeah I´m still testing. Using latest Yair patch also seems to have a good effect on passing and shooting.

Well, the gamplay is very nice, but : Why is Barca not able to play any possession football at all ? That was my biggest issue with PES 2013 and really wished they could change it. The gameplay may be the best ever made in a game, but i am an offline gamer who wants matches where the AI teams play as there real counterparts, at least in some way, and today most of the top teams play possesion football for at least some parts of the game....

I dont want Barca to have something like 60%+ possesion ( even if i dream of it), but playing long balls ( not even through balls) to Messi and Neymar so often ( even with the custom tactics from this forum) is just ridicolous.

I tested FIFA 14 also, and even the gameplay may be a little worse it is still great and the teams manage to have 85%+ passing accuracy by playing possession football, really nice as you can change the things so easily with the sliders. Problem is nearly all the teams do it, but i guess its easier to change it this way round with the right tactics...

So i guess i will wait for the patch and for the gameplay fixers like jenkey oder yair, but with little hope...

Changing the way you defend and also the dificulty level makes the AI play diferently. But also I can´t expect them to replicate their real life counterparts.

I wonder if Konami is aware of the AI shooting "bug". CPU players always shoot the near post when they are in penalty box. I hate it, no variations, even they shoot the same height and because of this "bug" my keeper always react with the same save animation. So boring to see the same situation over and over again...

You can get it from the official digital distributor, UK Gamesplanet. Though probably it will be bit expensive since the conversion is done in GBP.

-the Simple Crowd/Staff Disabler Tool by sxsxsx (empty stadium but with crowd noise. no more lag on PC
-Port.Brazilian commentary with Silvio Luiz.
-Klashman69 Tactics
-Yair gameplay 0.4 patch

Finally the perfect combination is coming together.

Is there a fix for shooting as of yet? My friend and i play offline and every game has amazing chances but the broken shooting lets it down and its the same for online its got to the point where i wont play it until the new patch is out.

Don't get me wrong i am not hating the game in fact i love it and its the closest PES has come to the glory days yet but man the shooting is so broken its impossible to score from anywhere outside the box and its a real gamebreaker for me until fixed.

there is no noticeable difference between High and Medium setting....only crowd resolution is a bit low may be....its joy to play with crowds on custom camera setting by MxSonic...there is no frame rate problem on medium but everything looks same as High !

Is there any way to save the controller settings in the PES settings program?

When the controller settings are made once the computer has restarted then they aren't there. You'd think in a 2014 game that you would be able to save the controller settings.

Isn't PES region dependent in terms of online play? As in, you can only play with people who own the same version as you? He might run into some trouble there.
