PC PES 2014 discussion thread

Just got around to installing my copy and it's running buttery smooth on my Asus Laptop - i7, 4G RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 5730 with no modifications or setting changes.

Mainly on the training ground so far, trying to work out the moves. Like previous iterations, it all seems a bit strange at first.

Of the few exhibition games I've had I can see where some gripes are coming from, but I feel that these will be overcome with practice.
Barging and Jostling are big this year I see.
Not sure about shooting yet - it's either extremely subtle or broken. I keep hitting the crossbar with Advanced shooting!
Jury still out on keepers, but seen no major blunders so far.
Passing (1-bar) is fine but the ball can seem a little 'heavy' at times.

OK, back to training...

On the detail level setting, does it let you select between Low, Medium or High?

Im it playing on a laptop with Intel HD 4000 graphics, and the only setting it will let me select is Low. It says the graphics has 32 MB VRAM, but it has 1.6 GB RAM.

Intel HD chips has very low dedicated Vram. That 1,6gb is being taken from regular ram which is much slower process.

Even if it actually had ~1 GB dedicated Vram it wouldn't do much good since this gpu is too slow and not built for gaming at all.

Hadn't played in a while, really like this game! Didn't piss me off as usual today, but that may be down to my winning online form. Also, I hammered the 34th best in ranking mode 5-0 (Lazio-Everton) so I'm happy about that too! I don't mean to boast, I suck IMO. :P

Why are you defending Konami when they are indefensible? Do you work for them? :P

I guess it was inevitable that someone would mention this. I actually interpret it as you didn't have a proper response and this is your resignation confirming that I'm right.

Also, I don't see the point of complaining about this because I'm pretty damn sure they already know that some poor decisions were made regarding this release. My 5 cents is that it was rushed out because of £ and there aren't really any good arguments against that that will sink in anyway.

I'd prefer if we tried to pinpoint what actual gameplay changes we want. Something solid that they could work towards and the only way to reach that is by playing the same game and give feedback thereafter. What I mean by 'playing the same game' is simply that we need to focus on ONE difficulty setting since the game changes incredibly in character depending on setting and we must use VANILLA+OFFICIAL game files only.

If the game gets balanced @normal difficulty then the other settings will become more and less extreme versions of that setting.

Why you say?
Well it's simple, really. Person A says the game is too frantic and the AI pressure is too massive over the course of "90" minutes. Person B responds that he wants MORE pressure and that he disagrees with basically everything person A said.

Person A is playing Superstar and person B is playing Professional.

PS. Since Top Player and Superstar is completely broken at the moment, those two are out of the question to judge the game by anyway but you get my point.

Why top player difficulty is broken ?
I find it best difficulty setting. Professional is WAY too easy, cpu no matter the team just give up possession too easily and Superstar is ultimate pressure all game.
Top player is kinda sweet spot between the two

On Top Player the AI easily ends up with one man attacks that you can easily fend off and they (it?) never try to settle down the pace of the match and build up play unless you give them space and time to do so. You can easily force them to end up in this fruitless circle and it's easier to win games like that than it is to win on Normal setting even. On professional they will start passing before you can continually force them to counter and hoof the ball.

Personal record on Top Player in ML is 16-0 against Bayern with Spurs (CL).
On Professional I am still at 5-1/ 4-0 at least.

PS: I play 15 minute matches.

cpu doesn't build up on any difficulty.
On professional i have 75-80% possesion on every game and opponent end up only sending occasional through ball towards striker. On top player atleast i have to work harder to control the game.

Its matter of perception i think, you can't tell one or another difficulty is broken for granted.

Konami doesnt know or doesnt give a fuck how to make football game anymore

- BUGS BUGS BUGS BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGS EVERYWHERE, this game wasnt tested by anyone IM SURE! if we would force Kei Masuda to play this only for a day, he would be bagging me to let him go play anything else
- bugs still fine, we are people they are fixable, WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE PATCHES?! TWO FUCKING MONTH REALLY????????? There is internet on the world! Gather the FUCKING INFO in 2-3 weeks, make fixes in 1 week and upload the fucking patch!
- live rosters like in any other sports games(for years) today???
chris-bosh-face-gif.gif
- there is an edit mode so customers will do that instead of us but ofcourse its limited so they had to buy the next game anyway and why we would wanna make a perfect or decent game at least, we had to sell something next year aswell!

make-it-rain-guys.gif
we shouldnt buy PES games, im glad i havent did since 2011 but that was a mistake too

so first i need to buy a beta and then i can complain?
stupid..
thats EXACTLY why there are illegal copies and all this, konami proved it
dont like the truth? not blame others, blame konami, and all the blind buyers, nuff said

Did i hit the bull's eye? Didn't know you're one of them, sorry. To me words, opinion, feedback coming from people that only rely on other people words, hearsay and couple of Youtube footage are irrelevant. Unless they tested the game extensively via preview copy or by some other mean, their opinion should not be weighed in too much. If i were the developer, i know which one should or shouldn't be taken on board.

you don't got anything don't ya?
i played the game enough, if i wouldn't do you think i would have made so many posts here about the game w/o even playing it myself, o rly? :CONFUSE:

no demo, unfinished game, no money until i am satisfied with the game, if i am not satisfied well then i am not playing the game
true mans logic, i did it this way
not buying "blind" for years now, for a good reason as we all can see

reading between the lines from your end will do the job to understand, i hope
konami is forcing me to do it this way, its sad

CPU passes it around a lot on professional

So, Konami still havent released a PC demo? Still no game on Steam? oh Konami..... xD

Couldn't care less about Steam. The farther they distance themselves, the better if i'm being selfish. I dread the day of PES become a Steamworks. Don't need 3rd party bloatware just to run my game. Beside, it's not just about selling the game, but also providing support and special treatment for Steam users as the patching and verification system are different than retail. It's more akin to PSN and Xbox Marketplace.

Gamesplanet is fine as it is. Install, activate and forget. Unlike Steam, you're free to keep the installer.

Steam EULA is enough to put me off.

..or cross toward first post.

oh yes, i know how to defend and the only thing the com is doing is to do this crosses, so boring

if they at least would change the crosses, or do a cross fake move, turn, pass back etc.
but most of the time its pure cross first post and on my end here its 9/10 low cross

serious issue, reminds me a bit of 2010 com offensive ai, with these crossing

About to stream online play if anyone wants to watch. ;) Link in signature.

Man I hope nobody watched that!
Played absolutely shit! Lost 5 games, 4 of which with players in the low 300s and 200s. When I start losing I don't stop. That's probably because I lose my temper, which results in shitty football and lack of patience. Man that was crap! Then I play people with similar ratings or higher and win, wtf?

Konami isn't forcing you to do anything. Either you wait for a demo, or you BUY THE GAME if you want to try it. Saying that it's buggy as a justification for piracy is a cop out.

The fact that you say you've been doing this for years also means this is multiple games you've not bought, which means less funds Konami has had for future development. In a small way, you yourself have contributed to the bugs in the game (as resource is almost always a direct correlator to mistakes in most professions, although I admit there are limiting points to this).

PS. I believe there are rules on here about not using txt speak. I for one would appreciate it if you used a capital letter once in a while (in the right places of course).

im not condoning piracy nor am i condemning it but I believe companies should go through an independent review before releasing a product and if it is unplayable it shouldn't be allowed for release.

This is clearly what happened with PES 2014, it was and still is an unfinished bugfest that may never be completely fixed so asking people to pay full price for it is wrong. Not that is justifies piracy but it certainly doesn't help the cause to abolish it.

Software piracy is stealing , simple as that.
Whether a game is good or bad is purely an opinion, not a basis for taking it

No further discussion on that particular topic please.

fair enough , but i dint say it was good or bad i said it was unfinished and there's a difference when asking people to pay for it

As a fan of the series and if i want to play and try the new title i need to play the full game, if there is no demo and all the talk about issues how do you think i should do this?
Its even better for konami because i care, some other dude would't bother at all so there would be not even a chance that he is buying that game, for me there still IS a chance that i do.
Simple logic here mate, oh, and there will be no demo for pc, old news..

My justification is not that its buggy, should be absolutely clear after this post, thats just ignorant from your side.

The fact that i am doing this for years means that i bought every game i did this, so your points are invalid, i just want to make sure what i buy.

edit
ok saw that post by leeds, lets end this

No company should be forced to be reviewed before launching products. But they should be forced to give us back our money if there were enough legal reasons to. In PES 2014, there are more then enough reasons. They are seling something that it´s not what they say. I mean, any other product that has bugs or construction faults can be returned. Why software can´t?

It´s clearly a way of getting funds to finnish the product, but I´m starting to get overwhelmed by this game´s malfunctions in a way that I can´t believe anymore that they will sort them out. PES needs another year of development to get fully operational. Lets pray they don´t get focused in more features before they fix the ones already implemented.

No company should be forced to be reviewed before launching products..

Of course they should and for multiple reasons depending on what they are selling, safety reasons is an obvious one if your product could cause harm to the user. Not relevant in this case but consumer protection is.

It is similar to going buying a new car that won't go into 5th gear because of a ropey gear box...you wouldn't say its fine because the other 4 work..yet PES fans except it.

I actually loved the game for the first few days then the flaws stood out massively. The no PC demo was always the plan because it wasn't ready to be released.

You would also think Konami from a brand protection point of view would want it tested independently properly, as the way it was released will destroy the brand slowly but surely. Saying that they obviously were well aware of the flaws and thought fuck it lets get people to buy it anyway
