PC PES 2014 discussion thread

Yes I explained my self in a wrong way. They shouldn´t be forced to be reviewed about the fact of being a finished product or not. I agree about safety issues and violence rating though.

Pretty much stopped playing this game now. Too little content to keep me interested.

Waiting for the Konami patch and the first good PC patches.

Likewise. To be honest, I haven't played PES 2014 in weeks. FIFA 14's Career Mode/Be A Pro was getting a lot more of my attention. I was pleasantly surprised with FIFA's offline gameplay this year. Haven't played either in awhile as I've been busy playing Pokemon. :P

haven't touched this since my first two days of getting it, just no desire to play it really, especially with the patches being way off.

Software piracy is stealing , simple as that.
Whether a game is good or bad is purely an opinion, not a basis for taking it

No further discussion on that particular topic please.

Releasing a game that is unfinished is fraud. We pay for a finished product not some half assed version. If anyone has noticed there is no review of PES 2014 online, only offline.
If I buy a car and it comes with only 2 wheels then I should be able to get my money back.

The online code is crap
The PS3 online code will crash your PS3. When you play PES 2014 without going online it will not crash your PS3. There is definitely memory leak problems with online code.
You can lose games just by searching for games.
You have to use a Konami code to access online, meaning you get less money when you try and trade it in.
Most players faces are not even in the game.

Well I played enough games to know PES 2014 isn't Champions League level.

While the animations are nice, the player delay when trying to pass the ball around is just too bad. This also applies to players trying to turn, it is so slow and clunky it feels like Im not even controlling anything (this is with trying the yair and anderson improved player response patches).

PES 2013 is still the best futbol sim in my eyes to present date.

PES 2014 has amazingly good potential if they can fix these huge issues.

Through ball and LOB shots are all about.. online mode is complete joke with this " bug " or .. i don't know what is it .

Thinking of jumping on FIFA this year. Just need a decent offline kickabout that feels finished. Anyone know of any cheap PC codes?

PES2014 could be fucking fantastic, I truly mean that, but Konami dropped the ball big time this year. I'm genuinely shocked by their lack of professionalism in releasing such an unfinished product and then failing to support it in quick time. They aren't a low budget indie dev studio but they sure as hell act like one. PES sells millions of copies and can still be considered a big-hitter in the gaming industry.

I'm not seeing any progression. Nothing is learned from the past. They need to step up or give up.

The thing is, they haven't sold a million copies as far as I know, the first two weeks the count was 250 000 (hell, there are some indie games which sell better than that!).

It's just ridiculous but they did this to themselves, they shouldn't blame anybody.

I'd definitely give it a go. While PES 2014 gets a lot right and is superior in some ways to its competitor, FIFA 14 is a completely viable alternative. Set the gameplay to slow, use manual controls (I set everything to manual except shooting and crossing which are on semi-assisted) fiddle around with the sliders and you'll have yourself an enjoyable experience. The addition of inertia goes a long way in improving the gameplay. As I already mentioned, it feels good to be able to boot up Career Mode, select a team from a myriad of leagues, play in appropriate stadiums (for the most part) with weather and custom chants. All wrapped up in a pretty slick interface. With that said, I have run into quite a few technical issues with the game. FIFA 14 loves to CTD several times before it finally boots up. Sometimes I can't minimize, and on one occasion I was beating Chelsea 1-0 in my career and my controller just stopped working. I had to quit the game. A few niggles here and there, but nothing too game breaking.

I'm just waiting for patches and for the only person I know who plays PES to buy 2014. I had given up hope on PES 2013, but I started playing 2vCPU over the summer and had the time of my life (despite the rampant AI cheating). I suspect my experience will be even better with 2014.

Guys, is it just me? Please tell me I´m not crazy but sometimes, now and then, I fire up the WE9LE just to feel that nostalgia of past times and, well, I think its amazing.

I think that one key feature on the gameplay was the totally automatic passing system. For some of you full manual might be the way, but to be honest, I never got it. I believe that´s one of the main reasons why Konami lost their identity. I mean, in older Golden Era PES editions, passing was automatic, you only had to aim and tap X and still, most games I ended up with around 55% possession, if that much. The game was VERY based on player atributes, and you knew you had to play with a great player in midfield for those key passes. Now, with the inclusion of Manual passing, players lost most of their individuality. Same for shooting system.

It depends too much on our hability and less on the team rating. It bugs me because after getting the right training, I can loose to Barcelona but still have 65% + of possession. I can make lots of lob passes with pretty much any player on the field etc. That´s why I stopped playing FIFA!

Aaahhh I miss good old times...

I did actually a few times back in the day, you need to open that foil very carefully so you can put the box back in, that upper or lower part is a bit sticky so they won't notice you opened it.

Here is quite hard to do that, because the box comes sealed on all sides. With a bit of patiente probably I could do that, but when I get a so antecipated game I never remember to be that carefull. It´s like, when I get the game I feel :BOP:.
When I realised what I got instead I feel:RANT:.

I agree, wouldn't say it's totally automatic though, at least in WE9LE i feel that way, it's like 1 pass bar support, depending on the situation and how long you hold in one direction it's quite free if you ask me.

Going from 2010 to 2011 was a bit shocking for me, i could L2 spam precisely long (through) balls all over with some random side backs and so on, game lost some of the magic with manual.

I have an issue with the through balls in this game.

The issue is that every time i do a through ball to a player, as soon as that player receives the ball, he automatically tries to pass the ball one touch as if i pressed the pass button!

wtf?

It sometimes happens to me but only when playing online and experiencing lags. Exactly the same behavior as described.

i get fouled all the time, use the right stick

At last ! Thanks Gomito. Glad You said that.

I suspect 50% of those complaining are still trying to play like PES2013.
Or have not yet got a grasp of all the control options available.
The game needs playing like football, getting shoulder in first using right stick
in opposing players direction to unbalance an attacker, You really do get awarded fouls when You are running properly with contact, and penalties too.

The PES2014 discussion thread for xbox / PS3 is way ahead of this one because they actually talk properly about tactics and suchlike.

We have had too many posts in here saying " broken game ",rip off and the like.

Well Guys there is only so much shouting at the wall we can take on a daily basis.

If You like the game, lets discuss it properly.
If You don't like the game, don't bother with the rants and venom because
just like arguing with the ref, it gets You nowhere.

But that's the thing I wrote some time ago, there is already quite some RS use in the game and take the barge which is a huge part of the game into account its a LOT of RS use, i don't like that, i don't like that direction the game is going, like you can do whatever you want to we give you the controls for it, it's like fifa, trying to simulate all the little details about the game but forgetting how the game plays in the end.

While playing I think more about the controls of the game than about the game itself, its just not fluid and not how a PES should play imho.

Well Yes I can see that.
However that is surely just a learning curve?
Give it a month or two and those controls will just be natural actions that You do without even thinking twice about ?

That's what I've been saying too but I guess people just wanna pick up the controller and be good at the game riight off the bat! Some of them even judge the game after they play it for a few hours and say how bad it is. That's just plain wrong.

That's quite presumptuous, wouldn't you say? I realize you said 50%, but I've been utilizing the RS since the demo was released. I understand how to "draw" fouls and use my body (in both a real life and video game sense). The fact of the matter is, the game does does a very poor job of detecting fouls from collision based contact. The RS doesn't even come into the equation if I dink the ball past a defender, and then said defender proceeds to manhandle me.

I'm sorry, but this notion that, "The perceived lack of fouls is due to you not grasping the game's mechanics!" is a bit much. Besides, it's not as if this is a new trend. Lack of fouls has plagued this series for years. The PES 2011 (or 2012?) demo was probably the closest we've come since PES 5 in terms of a "realistic" (if nothing else, at least it was frequent) foul system. Unfortunately they decided to tone it down come release.

Starting using the right stick alot more last Monday, always forgot to use it and even to hold off a player I was pointing it in the wrong direction( point towards the player that's tackling you to push him away, need to read things better)Its totally changed the game for me. I hold on to the ball much better and when the AI try to pressure me( which is a complaint I hear alot. too high AI pressure) they back off and it slows the game. also the double tap for speed burst to beat a player or to keep ahead of a player for longer. Also about the catch up bug, if you time your bursts you stay ahead of the defender for longer. Plus when he catches you(and he will) you can hold him off while sprinting or normal running with the right stick and when you get inside the box if you push him off for a sec, this gives you the opportunity for that perfect shot. love this game. Bar the lack of faces, transfers, proper chants and certain things in the masterleague(16 year old evra on 88, purple arrows, goalkeeper stamina)stats and tatics which will all be sorted over time with the brilliant modders from this community

@Panthera1 You were late but welcome to the party man. You are right R stick is a must. In fact i can say that i use it as frequently as the L stick for movement. Both on defence and offense

:OOOH:That's Your opinion Redhat, nothing wrong with healthy debate.

Presumptuous no, I just plucked that figure out of the air to see what response it got. At least You have shown real understanding with Your comment though.

Seriously mate, this thread needs to go in a whole different direction,
change its mood, focus on the game, stop the moans and rants and troll type posts.

You read the thread , it takes just one to say "game breaker" and Baa! Baa!
a flock of sheep for the next several posts.

Have had to warn people for routinely checking in and spamming same
repetitive negative stuff on a daily basis.

Just want to refresh this thread a bit, and at least some constructive
posts coming back.
