sorry, ML has a totally frustrating gameplay.
exhibition mode is a completely different game

Always been the case in PES. I don't understand it either. It's Konami logic. Exhibition matches are varied, free-floating, balanced, exciting in a good way and with the general feel that you are in control of your actions and you lose because you played bad.

ML-matches on the other hand, are grinding, repetitive, infuriating and scripted affairs in which – after you worked your butt off for a slouching 1-0 lead against an unnamed team of never-heard-of-players which nonetheless dribble like Messi, sprint like Ronaldo and pass like Xavi – the engine seems hell-bent on sticking you yet another injury time equalizer just to piss you off. You lose because you played well and the computer doesn't like it.

If ML had the feeling of the exhibition matches, this game would be heaven.

ML is similar with exhibition but of course form is more prominent. Also i think it's just psychology, you're using the same team over and over again in ML. Sometime it feel jaded, a slight difference make you easily to conclude the game suddenly turn against you.

i can't but agree with u that i like pes 2011, it had no bugs, no superhuman AI gameplay,each team had it's own character shooting was very good, but it was easy to master i guess, after a while i was winning all of my matches, dunno maybe the game was easy, i wouldn't mind playing pes 2011 again.

it was way too easy, you build up the ball then you hit a thru ball to a striker for every fuckign goal. Was a good game but pes 2014 is much better IMO. More variety of goals.

I notice two things happen since pes 2012 and 2013:
1st has certain times when we have a player closer to the ball, but the game selects another player that the ball farther and I can not change!
2st In some releases of my opponent defenders abandon the marking out of the play for no reason!
3rd In pes2014 aso times the ball goes in front of the players and they do not catch, stand still!

Anyone else noticed this, I play human x human, and notice it easily. What email support Konami to report this?

It makes more impact than just words. At least they will be SHOWN what to fix.

I did it with defensive lines, GK glitches, chipped shots and advanced shooting being "glued" to hit post/bar LOTS of times (more control, ye?).

Sorry, but you want to play the game like OLD PES games. That is NO GO this year. Re-learn how to play it. Abandon OLD PES mindset and you might start to enjoy it.

respect your opinion, and I have always respected, well I learned to play, draw game, attack, defend

GK and defensive line (answer, movements) is a gamebreaker for me, has no solution. 2 seasons ML, over 50% of games lost because of GK bugs, it's frustrating. I'm sorry, I have no desire to return to play

Agree, it's unfinished but it's certainly not unplayable. Far from it.

I've already done and seen things in this game that simply weren't possible on the old engine. Going forward, the potential for PES using this new platform is massively exciting.

it is but really the game is frustrating coz everytime u play it, u find an annoying bug, many things that ruin the way u feel when u score a great goal, i'm not hating on this game, but it's simply sometimes unplayable because of those things, the first important thing, every team feel the same against u, every team has a messi or pedro or ozil etc... it's not right...messi doesn't feel like messi, ronaldo isn't ronaldo, player individualism doesn't exist..this is bad to start off in any football game..

You don't know what an engine does then

A game engine has NO impact on how a game plays. Most engines today are built very modular and expandable and thats why the FOX engine is a big deal because of the potential growth it has compared to the old engine.

That said, even the extremely limited current gen fox engine looks better than fifa ng.

2012 was worst pes for me so i had time playing other pes
pes5/6 and WE LE(K) Versions of it

liked 011 best tbh with 010(COM AI offensive destroys the game, crossing all the time running outside pitch ..)
beside the offensive ai in 010 i like 010 best, after that 011 for NG titles since pes6

I'm playing 2011 game honestly surprised me, control of the players is very good, the only thing I do not like so far is the physics of the ball is very fast
the game far better than 2012 in general

There is more to player variety than animation they use.

you feel Ronaldo is not Ronaldo because game catches up to you fast? Have you tried pulling skill moves with auto-feint off? Ronaldo is able to do ALL sick moves, which Alexis/Pedro from Barcelona CAN'T pull off (because, they never did it in real life).

This is the problem with mentality. I knew we might get unfinished game due to pushing of release date (late October/early November -> to mid of September).

Also knew that even when there are niggles here and there, KONAMI, will DO all they can to FIX the issues. They did it before, they will do it again (must I remind you that until final patch for PES 2013, the game was unplayable for me).

I do feel 1.02. patch will bring HELL lot of improvements overall to what is good game (for me it is GOOD game which DEMANDS from player to BUILD up play and seek occasions to score). I have already lost games, drew games and won games I shouldn't have won (going 3-0 down at HT, turning it around to 3-5 win = most amazing feeling you can get from football game ).

When I lost, I never felt cheated. Never had AI scored from low cross into box (plague in PES 2013) or through miraculous run through the middle when you couldn't tackle them (again, sounds familiar?).

The AI has to play according to HOW you let them play. If you pressure them all over the place, they will play long ball forward. If you're unlucky in defending against that (Barcelona for example plays with high defensive line) and your defenders don't clear the ball with their head (if for example they face the like of Ibrahimovic), you're in trouble. I played vs PSG and Ibrahimovic and Mascherano is SHIT as central defender. A little bit too short to cover Ibra, Ibra knocked the ball down to wing, himself running to the box, cross, Ibra heads the ball in. 0-1 down. It was MY mistake that led to goal. Not AI cheating .

Similar situations are THERE to be found. Play like Norwich vs Arsenal and you might see Arsenal wiping your ass on possession, etc.

Word of advice, if you're willing to press abuse teams like Norwich, you'll definitely run out of steam near 70min mark. Stamina, tiredness do play massive role this year. Learned the hard way .

This game fundamentals are AMAZING. The execution is a problem at times.

KONAMI and PES Team definitely know what FOOTBALL is about, unlike EA Sports and FIFA who is going down arcade, end-to-end action game.

What it needs is polishing touch. Something I feel will come with 1.02. patch...

And yes, I am also very critical when PES 2014 needs it, however, some people are overreacting .

I jumped to fifa after pes went next gen and if truth be told in the Playstation 2 days i had every copy of pes available. Used to get the pro evolutions when they were released then the winning eleven imports and even the american MLS games in between

I tried pes 11 and 12 hoping they would be like the olden days but honestly untill this one they havent even come close.

This pes reminds me of the first time Fifa introduced there new engine and physics. It wasn't perfect but it was the best so far at the time. This pes isn't perfect but its still the best football game made so far and blows every other football game out of the water.

People need to bear with Konami its there first time on a new engine so it wont be perfect but with patches the improvements will come.

didn't play PES 2014 for a week now, thought I'd give it another try online and hope I'd get a decent connection with an opponent, nope laggier than any match I've experienced in FIFA (and the smallest of delays in FIFA) screw up your game as I'm used to near seamless connections on there.

They need to sort out their online experience with that next patch or it won't be getting played much come November.

To be completely fair, I didn't even play demo. Ordered it blindly.

After 2 weeks, I started to see dents in surface and regretted buying it without playing demo (I would know about responsiveness issues, optimization faults, etc.).

I wanted to give up on it, but thought: hell, I bought it, I will do all I can to help and improve it. So started to record bugs/glitches, player awareness issues, goalkeepers being bad in certain situations, overpowered chipped shots and GK not reacting to them AT ALL, advanced shooting "glued" to posts/bars, reported videos to Adam showing problems, etc.

Hopefully he will show them to KONAMI and PES Team.

However, even with those issues, I can't put my controller down. I keep playing it, it has that one more game feeling I missed for so long in PES.

Sure, it isn't perfection in every way, but my God, this plays so nice and gives you so much control at your fingertips, it's a sin not to give this game so much chance (and jenkey tool did fix some problems in my case).

Off to play some more.

Regarding Online, I believe the issues with this mode, come from simple fact, their servers are absolute garbage quality.

Can't compare this to EA really because EA has beacons ALL over the World. KONAMI is basically, Japanese bound.

I can adjust to the lag, the catch up bug and I almost can live with the direct hit difficulty, but the fucking goalkeepers are killing the game for me.

I play online most of the time. And every game I score or get a goal because of the goalkeepers. I loose because of the fucking goalkeepers. How am I supposed to play this game, when there´s always the chance I´m ruined by the last man?

I know, the goalkeepers have never been one of PES strengths. But this is far beyond that!

Try LB/L1 + Right stick to control GK. Run carefully towards the CF if he's coming alone with LB/L1 + Y/triangle (it runs very fast). If the ball goes to CF when he is already in the box, and defensers can't do anything, just select GK and wait for the striker's decision, the GK, in a some way and at least, will be smarter than usual and will not accept a goal like a moron.

This game really gave us a lot of freedom. Sometimes you will be able to know when is the time to control the GK and when is not recomended. After all, all PES games has scripts, besides this version has a lot of freedom and possibilites than the others.

Very good that in PES 2014 we FINNALY can control GK in online. '13 version would be possible avoid 40% of goals with this.

But in crosses, I don't know what to do yet. the GK automatically gets close the first bar SO MUCH and has no time to back and cover the goal, receving a unecessary goal of a normal header.


Anyway, I am conformed that PES 2014 is a beta for 2015 :/

Konami are just incompetent.

You can look past the odd annoying quirk or bug but the one thing a football game needs to do right is shooting/scoring goals. PES2014 is a wet fart when it comes to this. Almost all goals are completely unsatisfactory. First time passes are done well, they feel and look real but it's pointless if after a nice move you're left with a 'meh' as the ball floats in after a totally unnatural connection with the foot.

The real problem is that Konami haven't been able to sort it out in over 3 years of development. Are they retarded?
