If you've played the demo you should know that the actual football/gameplay is excellent. But, let's be honest, sites like Gamespot don't give high scores to games that don't have great soundtracks, lots of online modes, lots of licenses and fancy menus, etc... That's simplifying it a bit but, you get the point.

i wish i played the demo, now waiting for the game, i think i won't be visiting gamespot anymore, eurogamer seems always have good detailed reviews, it's good to hear that the football/gameplay aspect is excellent.

Things to add to konami triangle this year:
*Realtime speed replays playback. Yes from this year we can only see our greatest saved goals in slow motion or even more slowmotion;
*Attack/Defense mentality bar.

Attack defense mentality bar is now divided into

Quick change by pushing and keep pressing left or right arrow on dpad.You will see a line moving forward or backward showing you how deep the defensive lineis

and it's there in teamplay setting as a slider

Where can you see this line showing your corrent situation about defensive line?

Att/def mentality bar was more than defense line height, it was very usefult if u suddenly want your side backs not to run forward all the time and be more defensive.

Reviews, previews bar a select few just a part of marketing*. I stop caring about them numbers since long time ago. It is the content of the review that matter, and i trust my own judgement above all.

*- marketing doesn't necessarily mean paid review.

it's still there in gameplan
it's a slider you can set and activate by pressing UP or DOWN on dpad to choose the relative teamplay tactic

I thinks too that it's not the same as the old att/def attitude. Also, in the game plan you have all out attack and all out defense but they were there in 2013 along with att/def indicator... no?

I have second PS3 with a broken blueray, do you think it's possible to play without issues a digital copy from PSN of PES2014 on that?
I know that BR should not interfere but, you never know.

What where they supposed to do, give 0 or if he doesnt he is a fanboy? And I thought u was a guy who wanted ppl to respect opinions, even if no one agrees with it? The guy feels its 9/10 and alot of us enjoyed the demo too much, and from what i hear most ppl say, final game is better as it tackled the issue of lags and so on. So nothing wrong with the review is there?

Can't see why not. The disc drive is not used for games 100% stored on the HD.

Sounds like it's a case of brilliant on the pitch, but rather... meh... off the pitch. Note to Konami: You do not need heaps of licences to make ML more like Fifa's CM. Repeat: You. Do. Not. Need. Heaps. Of. Licences! I mean, there's tons of unlicenced stuff in PES anyway - the modders always take care of that - so why not pack your game with content, licenced or not? EA do not hold a monopoly over a realistic football world and by the sounds of it, it's this aspect that is still holding PES back from being the best overall football game package.

I haven't played the game yet (I'm holding fire to see some reviews and preferably to play the demo for myself), but it sounds as though the football itself is amazing, but that's not really enough for me - I need depth off the pitch as well - and I'm sure there are thousands of gamers who feel that way.

Just do it, Konami! Next year, don't just 'revamp' ML. Chuck it out. That's right, I said chuck it out; get rid of it; start (gasp) from scratch! Make an entire new game mode whose sole purpose in life is to knock Fifa's CM off its perch. I know that might upset some PES fans, but ML's very format is dated and in dire need of change. Pack your game with content, Konami - licenced or not (the community will take care of that; even the consoles can use Option Files) - and many people will never look at Fifa again. For me, the second the PC version of Fifa gets Ignite, then I'll be playing Fifa once again (the PC modders always find a way to make the gameplay what it should be) - unless the current situation with PES off the pitch changes and changes a lot. As that review said, Konami's 'nostalgia' is hurting the game's progress.

So just to be clear.

The retail copy of pes was the same as the demo 2, and is now only a bit more responsive because of a patch?

Or was the retail copy improved from demo 2 and the patch has made it more so?

Honestly, It's true. If PES had FIFA 14 menus it would be so amazing. I know it's all about the gameplay, but let's be honest here... wouldn't you mind have a better interface?. I thought FIFA 14 was unbeatable at that. You can even change your teams formation right from the pause menu, with the right stick, without having to get into any other sub-menu. So smooth.

6.0 from Gamespot? Talk about a biased pro Fifa review, it just proves to me how much of a threat they think Pes poses to Fifa this year.

Smoother, better - but still not as good as PES' tactics/formation editing. EA missed a trick by not making that team formation screen interactive. Just imagine being able to select a player and drag/drop him where you wish. In PES you can do that with ease - in Fifa, you have to faff around with numerous different menus and make separate saves all the time. As an added bonus, you can't move a differentplayer into a spot vacated by a sent off player. Huh? That means if your CB gets sent off, you'll be stuck with a huge gap in the middle of your defence. It's nonsensical.

And PES needs more than just Fifa 14's menus - it needs some of its depth as well. Licenced or not doesn't matter - just fill out the game off the pitch, Konami!

Tks mate, I would like to be sure before gift the PS3 to a friend and say him to buy the game from PSN (and a new HDD because I've moved it to the new one).

So I was wondering if someone with a broken BR drive here tried to do it before with some full game from PSN.

Yes, but the review is still very biased, the game is at least a 7/10, and that's the console version without any modding whatsoever.
I love the fact he says that the game is not a major graphical improvement and the framerate drops, but he forgets he's playing on an 8 years old console. :JAY:
The PC version will be a joy for sure, it's very well optimised and the modding will make it a good game, although the modes are limited and the match-day atmosphere is quite bad in terms of audio.
The AI is still not as consistent as I'd like, but I understand, since the game has been downscaled to run on PS3/360.

IGN gave PES 2008 9/10....they just appease the masses. Reviews are worthless, forum consensus is a much better indicator,
