Well I grabbed a copy this morning and after several games here comes my opinion:
- Game feels more similar to PES 2013 than the demo did. Not sure yet why, but it does.
- PS3 version suffers of severe framedrop and stuttering in cutscenes. I only saw stuttering once during gameplay... but I did.
- It seems in my totally unscientific experience that Champions League games are more subject to framedrop and sudden freezes than regular games.
- Faces, in general are a shame. Faces of the best players are stunning. DLC can't come soon enough.
- R1 "double-tap-to-sprint" seems a bit nerfed to me - ball runs further than it did in the demo, harder to use. Better IMHO.
- There's definitely a feel of inertia (M.A.S.S I suppose...) that prevents you from playing "the usual way". A bit toned down from the demo, but still game changing. No 90º turns without momentum, this is the real stuff.
- Combination play is the best thing since sliced bread to me. Totally changes my buildup, you use it as a diversion from your real play or as the real stuff, depending on what you want... Works like a charm, easy to use and hard to master, as it should be.
- Crosses are über-hard to head. I surely need a tutorial somewhere, only hit one header in a bazillion crosses.
- Keepers are much improved to my perception, better than the demo code. Still, there's a stupid move or freeze here and there, I guess up to this point we're stuck with them.
- Long range shots feel good to me. Balotelli, Ronaldo, Boateng, Messi, Bale hit total screamers if the position, timing and spacing of the ball is correct. Montolivo, Modric, Pirlo, Iniesta hit softer but with loads of swerve and effect, equally dangerous in their way.
- I love the fake GK pass.
Will post more as I notice. Impressions are good so far...
